Sometimes the HDD IDMS2 failure is transient (heads of disc may get out of sync prolonged usage without counters). If this is the case then you can pull the blade from the chassis (only the way to actually turn off the hard drive), wait 30 minutes and then reinstall the blade and try again. If that's not enough then the hard drive has permanent damage, so you will need to contact Cisco TAC and ask them of RMA of the blade.

I put two new hard drives SAS I want to initialize and create another virtual disk of Raid-1.

  • When you try to initialize hard disk i/o device error.

I'm under the home edition of windows vista with service pack 1. I use an eMachine. I have an AMD athlon processor 2.60 Ghz. Recently, I connected a western digital 250 GB hard drive which has already been used in my old xbox. I was hoping not to have to lose all the data currently on the disk, but it is not as important as the implementation for storage on my computer. The WD drive shows in both the BIOS and in my computer management, but not in my computer. After research, I found that I needed initialize and then configure the partitions on the disk. When I try to initialize the drive however, I get the I/o device error. I tried to enter the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and then changin settings to PIO only, then on DMA. It does not say if Transfer Mode. I wonder if I miss something, or maybe if there is a way to format the drive in the hope that it will initialize without problem? Or if all goes well, there's just something that I'm missing now and I won't have to format the drive?

If the drive is not recognized by other computers, that's the case, it is dead or the drive itself is dead, or both. Contact Western Digital for methods of data recovery if the drive is still under warranty. Alternatively, if the drive is out of warranty, break the case and put the drive in a different disk enclosure. This answer if it is just the case of WD failed. If you're lucky, and that this is the case, just keep the drive within the confines of substitute.

OTOH, if the drive is not detected even in another forum, then it is dead. If data is critical and expense is not a problem, to recover the data, the reader should be sent to a professional data recovery company. It is a fairly expensive step. I use savers by car . • Cannot remove HARD disk configuration PERC 6i with use of the SAS drives foreign. Existing data are not important. Scratch reloading to redeploy the server.

Dell Poweredge 2950 III with serial number note from the Admin: have the label removed according to the TOU > receipt readers traded since an identical poweredge almost eliminated. In the configuration of the PERC controller 0 6i utility, disk groups show as foreigners. Messages following the procedure to import the configuration, then remove before was not effective. The prior configuration appears in the menu.

I would like to simply clean configurations of VD for the readers and the controller. After it is deleted then next step is to set up a configuration I want. My new Setup is not relevant for this post. The goal and the only question is how to clear existing shared disk configurations.

VD0 clear addition to figure 2 SAS PD/hard drives as virtual disk unique. RAID levels 0, status is offline, SMART status not = no error, County VD = 1, PD = 2 count, operation = none

    Is a similar to VD0 VD1

    other berries are currently empty.

For initial troubleshooting I have removed all the HARD drive except a single disk on the server. This disc shows also as stranger.

In the PERC 6i config utility:

VD MGMT doesn't show CONTROLLER0 - no configuration is present. Choice of the F2 are Config. Foreign config based on availability. (Create new VD and manage preserved Cache are greyed out) Right pane of the screen indicates "foreign Config present, controller prop.: DG = 0, County VD count = 0, County of PD = 1".

PD MGMT shows only the formatted Mo 139 K SAS single, foreign = State, SMART status not is no mistake, operation = none

VIEW FOREIGNERS shows DG0 = foreign, Virtual disk 255 with DG count = 1. County of VD = 1, County of PD = 1

I installed 3 of the disks individually rotating as a single HARD drive with similar results.

WITH 2 HDD SAS installed only difference is VD Mgmt shows County DG = 0, County VD = 0, County of PD = 2.   View foreign shows VD255 prop: Raid 0, Raid = foreign status, size = na, operation = none. | Disk prop group. : VD Count = 1, County of PD = 2, Ded HS = 0 (because it does not exist).

Thanks Chris. Problem is solved. I would like to Flash the firmware as precautionary measure? Still confused why initial in the VD Mgmt tab procedure has failed.

    BIOS 3.8

Installation of Vista properly with RAID, but XP installation drivers won't work for all that. I try a lot of drivers (versions even for Vista), with integration of nLite, with SD-start 16-bit back, DriverPacks. I bought no change - disk-USB, the laptop cannot see HDD. I try also with the USB-SATA external enclosure, but this without success, but I can see the HARD drive

    Any ideas?

  • Problem with external HARD disk - cannot mount the mac partition and can't unmount the partition windows

    Hi all

Need your help. I have problems with my external hard drive. I worked on it yesterday when the cable is a little detached and disassembled my intestinal HARD drive.

    Here are the specs:

1 Macbook Air 11.5 "running on El Capitan (10.11.1)

2 Buffalo Ministation external (1 TB) HARD disk divided into two: a Mac partition (for time machine) and the other a windows on FAT32 partition.

Before the accident yesterday, it was working OK.

Now, when I connect the HARD drive, it turns on but the Mac partition cannot be mounted (it does not appear on the Finder. I opened disk utility... just load forever and does not work) and the Windows partition is visible... but I can't take it apart without turning my computer.

I can assemble and disassemble a USB stick very well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Maybe you can explain a little better.

I would like to make some general comments before having your replay.

It is not wise to use TM on a disk with apple unformatted or partitions, it is preferable to have a dedicated TM drive also.

For TM, the rule is that the drive is about 3 times the size of the boot disk.

Normally you 'survive' a good step disassemble the drive external, but in this case with a another partition formatted on this subject, I'm not sure if that do not corrupt the disk, especially since the Windows partition is bootable. I have suspct the partition GUID on the TM partition table is corrupt.

I propose to start the disk completely: in DiskUtility select the 'higher' level (name of manufacturer) and the Partition, one OS X Extended (journaled) partition table Partition GUID. And use it only for TM, is not too big for this.

Could someone help me with this!

    Concerning

    Hello!

Have you looked for a bit in the forum for this problem? You will find a large number of threads.

However, you need the SATA drivers if you are installing your notebook computer with the Microsoft installation disc.
I put t know what laptop do you have but for laptops equipped with Intel chipset, you need Intel Storage Manager.

Download the drivers on the Web from Toshiba or Intel site, copy it to an external floppy drive and load it with F6 after booting from the CD.
Or create you your own installation with nLite [www.nliteos.com] disc.

I can't initialize the disk for my new external hard drive because the drop-down list in the Disk Management Console does not give me this option. I'm logged in as an administrator and running Windows XP.  The driver for the new hardware is not digitally signed because I can't initialize the disk.  So I can't get my new hardware to run.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the option "Initialize disk" in the Disk Management Console?

    Hello Honduras1,

Can you simply right-click and format everything first?  The drive must be formatted before use, make sure that you format NTFS.

  • Cannot start Windows, Windows Setup does not detect the hard disk, Bootmgr is misiing

I have a few problems on my laptop [Acer 3810 t]

    -The first problem
My mobile give me screen "cannot start windows' who have 2 choices: run the Startup Repair tool and boot normally. I chose to fix it, but nothing happens and stuck "starting windows" and gives unmountable boot volume 'blue screen '. the Dungeon of blues screen appear (for laptop is a not restart). So I turned off my phone and turn it back on it. the "could not start" screen again and I chose to start normally. but the result is negative. My portable Dungeon cannot start windows. Because of that I am using the advanced boot option and choose all the boot type such asit cannot load the safemode, last configuration etc, but the result is the same, you cannot start windows. in safe mode, its stuck in loading fileinfo.sys. I do not give up to try again with the advanced boot option. until I have a bad situation. My laptop can only 1 file in safe mode and blues screen do not appear again (my laptop only return at the beginning of start or restart)

    -The second problem
because it cant solved, I want to reinstall my laptop. My OS is Vista 32 bit (pre-installed). I want to install the new operating system, windows 7. I use Dsik Flash bootable USB to install Windows 7. But in the BIOS, it is detected as a USB HDD. So I set my BIOS to load USB HDD to the first order. the installation can be done, but only until the "start Setup" screen and its deadlock. I have it wait up to an hour, but nothing happens. So I'm going to BIOS, change SATA mode to IDE mode AHCI. Then load the USB and go "installation program start screen. but the new problem is the installation of window does not detect my hard drive. So I can not choose the place to install the operating system. I have to load the driver, but I did not. Again to load the configuration to AHCI and IDE, until I get my HDD can detected in IDE mode. So I think I can move easily, I choose custom installation and choose the hard drive to install the operating system. But unfortunately, at the beginning of the process, after choosing the OS, the Installer gives error if installation location the installation failed. (I forgot the error message)

    -The third problem
So far, I can't spend 'startup begins' as well in mode IDE and AHCI. Also bootmgr in my hard disk is missing, so I can't go to move the startup repair or the startup option in my HDD as before

What is the error code that you got with blue screen?

  • FAT32 option not available to format the hard disk during Windows 7 installation

I have a computer of Windows 10.  The owner wants to put on Windows 7.  I change the hard drive on the mbr to gpt.  But with the BIOS to TPG, I read that it, the bios would accept FAT32 hard drive.  I don't seem to have this option only NTFS.  Question: How to format a drive in FAT32.

    Hi John,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

Before you begin, note that the FAT32 file system has size limitations. You cannot create a FAT32 partition greater than 32 gigabytes (GB). In addition, you cannot store a file greater than 4 GB on a FAT32 partition. If the partition you want to format is larger than 32 GB, NTFS format may be a better option.

However, I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.
    Reference:
    Format

    Important notes:
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Converting a hard disk partition or volume from NTFS to FAT32 requires that you reformat the partition, which deletes all the data on this subject. Be sure to back up data that you want to keep before you begin.

I tried to connect the hard drive to another pc via sata-usb cable and the other pc has detected hard disk read errors

How do I return the recovery partion so I can use it on a new hard drive

    Hello:

You will not be able to.  When the disc is dead, it took the recovery with her partition.

You will need to order a set of recovery discs, and they can only be used if you buy a hard drive of the same size or more large storage capacity than the one who died on you.
