I have a dell reinstall xp home disc one of my computers, I can load this disc in my other dell computer? computers have stickers of legal product key on them, both editions home but one is terribly damaged and is initially loaded with media center edition needs a reformat. Please answer!

Since the COA Dell (license) sticker and installation of Dell CD game (both are XP Home), that's all that's important. Yes, you can do it, and whether or not the corresponding templates is irrelevant.

  • I formatted my hard drive and can't find my windows vista installation disc, can I download it?

    x 32-bit

If your vista is preinstalled and you still have the PK on your COA, borrow from someone different windows vista OEM version.

If you bought separately (not OEM), then borrow another windows vista RETAIL copy.

That would be casual piracy but, there is nothing you can do.

in any case, it won't work if you don't have a genuine microsoft product key.

If you are unable to activate, call microsoft product activation.

NOTE: Make sure that you borrow the exact and the same architecture/version/edition.

for example, the name of the product that is written on your COA is vista Home premium, then borrow OEM de Microsoft windows vista Home premium.

When all else fails, buy Windows 7.

  • Need to find the original product key Windows 8 to reactivate the laptop!

    Hello

I bought the laptop with Win 8 pre - install a few months back. Today, I decided to try to install Windows Media Center, and so after a bit of research I was directed to a Web page that said looking for 'add features' on the sidebar to win 8. She provided a cd key too that the requested Web site would be to activate Windows 8 Pro (including the media) for 90 days as a trial.

To put in this new product key in and restart the computer, I now get the error code: 0xC004F074 on the Activation of Windows program, but also a watermark at the bottom that says: "activate Windows, go into settings of PC to activate Windows.

The trial of course did not work and the product key is not valid. I would go back to the use of the product key of Windows 8 that came with the laptop, but I don't have the box of the laptop and there is no sticker on the bottom with the windows key on it 8. I tried a cd key recovery program, but the only key that appears is invalid I put in today, and not the key ive used since the first day.

I live in the United Kingdom, but the laptop was purchased in a store online in America.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Its likely that your computer came with Windows 8 and not Windows 8 Pro. You cannot add a key Windows 8 Pro Pack or Media Center unless you bought. There is no option available test.

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.

My recommendation would be to restore your computer to its factory settings:

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

    Hello

I would like to reinstall Windows 7 on my X 1 carbon from scratch, whether without all the bloatware. Where can I get Win7 image/disc to do? I tried to install Windows 7 on my friends drive MSDNAA Win7 but the key does not match (I couldn't activate Windows).

    Thanks for the help,

Lenovo do not sell these discs. MSDNAA as in DreamSpark? The image on the DreamSpark are not images of detail. You would need detail picture of the version of Windows 7 to work with serial number only. that you got.

Windows XP disks are no longer manufactured or sold. You * may * be able to find a place with an old stock for sale, but it is not very likely. Close your only choice is to purchase a used copy somwhere (but I would avoid eBay, where any software you buy is probably hacked).

What can I use the installation CD to do and what I can't use it for?

    1. can I use my XP Pro disc to reinstall a file missing in a friends XP Pro?
    Yes, you can

    2. can I use my XP Pro disc to do a repair/install on my XP Pro PC friends?
You cannot run a repair because the product key is different
You can do an install of XP as long as your friend has his own legal product key to use when installing

  • Where can I get a Windows Vista installation disc?

My old Acer laptop crashed about a year & a half.  I bought a new laptop.  The other day I plugged it to see what would happen.  He came & the guest a insert the Windows Vista installation disc.  Where can I get this drive?  Windows Vista came pre-installed with the laptop, so I do not have a disk with him.  Acer does not know because the laptop is out of warranty.  They told me to take the laptop to a computer repair shop.  Well, I don't want to spend that much money to find out what was on the laptop when it crashed.  Any suggestions?

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

As you never received a recovery disk when you bought your laptop Acer here is how to use the internal recovery Partition command which must be...

"How do I restore my computer using the eRecovery Management program outside of Windows?

    http://Acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/2631

    To start the system recovery:

    1. Restart the computer.
    2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the left Alt and F10 keys.
    3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows splash screen, press the Enter key.
    4. etc.

And if you have problems with the help of the Partiiton of recovery and Acer supplies more recovery media for previous models preinstalled Vista, you may need to use this method:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

  • family Windows xp installation disc

Hi, I had my computer lock up viruses, about a month before and under contract someone announced in my local paper to put in shape it... Well, it was running windows xp home edition, and when I came back from the guy, I got windows 7 installed, I never had the installation disk when I bought my computer (dell 8400 dimension), but there the sticker product key on the side of the case.  where can I download a new version of xp family?  I have the ability to burn DVDs and cdrs, so if there is a site I can get this, that should be all that I need

You probably had a restore partition hidden where you would have been able to make a recovery CD. (Don't nobody ever READS the record or the on-screen instructions when you set up a new computer?)

You must go to Dell, cite your Service number and they should be able to send a replacement recovery CD. (For a small fee of course...)

  • Can't download Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Disc Images (ISO files) with the license product key

A few months ago, I bought a laptop with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit pre-installed, used with supplied installation disc. There is a hologram sticker COA affixed to the laptop with a product key. I used this key to activate the phone without problem. I was then able to install SP1 and various other updates over time.

Recently, I decided that I should have a Windows installation disc (Windows Update has slowed to a crawl and doesn't, and I maybe to repair or reinstall it with the disk).

I have entered my product key on Microsoft Web page to 'Download the Windows 7 disc Images (ISO files)'. But I got an error message:

"The product key you have entered seems to be for software pre-installed by the manufacturer of the device. Contact the manufacturer of the software device for recovery options. »

Running 'Winver' shows that my product is authorized.

Running "slmgr.vbs - dli" shows the partial product key and license status "allowed."

If I contact the seller, what what can they give me other than the product key valid I already activated?

How can I download an installation image for the s/w Windows 7 that I activated?

    Thanks for your help.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

No, you will need to purchase an additional license. The virtual machine is considered to be a separate computer.

  • Where can I get a copy of the Windows XP installation for my sister. His was a virus and I had to format the drive. It's a registered computer

Where can I get a copy of the Windows XP installation for my sister. His was a virus and I had to format the drive. It's a registered computer. I have it ready for the operating system but I need to download a copy so I can retrieve my CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drive, so I can then bring to its system and reinstall the XP and then if she wants that we can get a windows 8. I use windows 8 on this system, I bought a few months ago and it's satisfying, but I don't understand why when I got it I could do things like using the keyboard of the screen with my fingers, but now I can't even use the keyboard mouse. It won't work at all. In a way I found it better that way at the beginning because I do a lot of typing and it would freeze until I was constantly stressed. I returned to Windows 7 mode I think but not sure.  All I know is that these two things have never worked correctly, so if they are still under warranty I will bring to the Future Shop and maybe they can fix it. I wish I could turn on and off easily so it does not interfere with my writing and study of a language second.
