Ignore the Welcome screen and goes directly to an account.

My computer, Windows XP Home Edition, recently crashed and I got a virus removed and was back, completely erased.  I have configured all the settings so that when the computer turns on, it SHOULD show the Welcome screen.  However, the computer always connects to one of the accounts immediately.  Can I change username to get the Welcome screen, but it does not start there.

Under the control panel > user accounts > user accounts > the way users log in, "Use the Welcome screen" checked.

I am naïve.  Please help me

This should do it:

  1. Press the Windows key + R .
  2. Type control userpasswords2 in the Open: box and press Enter.
  3. Put a check mark in the box, users must enter a user name and password to use this computer .
  4. Click OK .

  • Peut only the boot without failure; A regular boot freezes on the 'Welcome' screen and fades to black

    I use an ASUS laptop and everything was smooth until yesterday earlier.  I tried to start in class and it took a little longer (stopping at the 'Welcome' screen) but I'm starting up normal and thought nothing of him.  I'm going to the House an hour later and try to start and I can just connect to Windows 7 unless I Boot safe with networking.

    I have no idea how to fix this, I have no CD, I have no Windows CD that's at my parents (and anyway was a CD to upgrade), I spent 5 hours essentially pulling my hair out try everything last night and this morning still will not work.  I am now in safe mode.

    I would like to know all the details you guys need and how to get them and I'll probably get them to you immediately because I really need my computer today.  Thank you

  • Windows 8 does not not to the Welcome screen and the start option advanced

    I met a very strange situation.

    1. I first put my system into hibernation and walked away for a while. Then when I tried to turn on the system, it freezes at the Welcome screen. I tried the strok key (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) but nothing happened. I noticed that the ' FN ' on my laptop works very well! I could turn on and turn off the Wifi with them. But the system has not responded to all other keys and my touch pad.

    2. I tried waiting for the system to respond for a long time. When I noticed that the little light on my laptop showing the status of the HDD stopped flashing, I thought that the system could already went wrong so I hard reboot the system.

    3 then, strange thing that happened:

    (1) first is the logo of my BIOS flashed on the screen and disappeared, which has never happened before.

    (2) then the system told me that he prepares the update. But I remember turning off the automatic update and I had not installed update before the system went wrong. Although I remembered that there is a warning to the login screen that there is some new important updates and I should install them.

    (3) the system is restarted automatically when the increase is 30%. After this reboot, the system maintains hang at as before welcome screen.

    4. I've tried several things and hard reset for many times but nothing has changed.

    (1) I tried to disable the quick start to the BIOS.

    (2) I've tried allowing CSM (disable UEFI in legacy mode)

    (3) I tried to press F9 to start and got into the advanced boot options screen. However, all there hang two! My keyboard and mouse are both inadmissible.

    (4) disconnect all connected to my laptop.

    Then I'm lost. I can't repair or restore my system. I think that my keyboard works fine because I can change the BIOS setting to use. Now, I'm at my wits end with. Can anyone suggest anything?

    Update:

    Turned history that I tried to plug my USB mouse to the laptop. It worked, and when I connect my USB keyboard that works too! But minutes after I logged on successfully to Windows, I got the WORKER_INVALID and restart the system.

    I found this post which has almost exactly the same problem with me (I use an ASUS laptop too!). So I uninstalled my driver warned of the gesture, and then the system has not crashed over.

    But my problem has not been resolved. I downloaded and installed the latest driver of ASUS and always found my touch pad and the keyboard does not. I also realize that even in a different operating system on my system (LinuxMint), my touchpad and keyboard will not work.

    To summarize:

    Now I can use an external device (USB keyboard and mouse). But the built in keyboard and touch pad does not work. The latest driver for ASUS (ASUS Smart gesture) and ASUS ATK Package driver does not work. Strange thing is that when I open the computer, can I use my keyboard and even type in the Linux grub shell. But once the system got loaded, both in Windows and LinuxMint, the keyboard and the touchpad don't work.

    Now, I suspect my BIOS went wrong, but I do not know and do not dare update the BIOS so recklessly. Any ideas?

    Hello

    Thank you for the update on the question and good to hear that your problem is solved and everything works well after the replacement of the motherboard from ASUS. This information will help other members of the community to the same question.

    Feel free to post on the forum if you have any concerns more associated with Windows. We will be happy to help you.

  • A little black box appears at the top left of my Windows 7 login screen just before the Welcome screen and the stalls password when I try to enter. HELP PLEASE?

    Whenever I turn on my computer for a week, I try and put my password and after the first or the second key it stalls. He again entered my password, but I don't see whether registration in the password box. I also have a little black box that is slightly smaller than the size of a post-it note in the top left area of my screen for half a second, then it disappears and continues to my home screen and office as usual.

    I had this problem for about a week, and I can't understand what is the problem. I googled some things, but no one had the right answer. Someone said it was a startup with a defective software program, but I checked and I have the same 4 startup programs I've had there for a year. (DELL Wiireless WLAN Card, IDT PC Audio, Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and NVIDIA Compatible Windows 7 display driver) Everything is up-to-date and I already have Windows Update.

    (password stops around 0:42 and black appears at 0:52)

    Someone help? I'm paranoid that it might be a Spyware... ? None of my passwords and others are corrupted though, everything has been fine. I am making bluescreens (but not daily). I scanned with Malewarebytes and found nothing and I do that again right now. I also tried Registry Mechanic and Windows Security Essentials, but found nothing.

  • The Welcome screen freeze

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
