IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks
Hello
Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community!
You can't use the wireless connection and the message that the DNS server is not responding.
The problem may occur if the computer is unable to connect to the DNS server.
To check, I suggest you follow the steps:
Method 1: Re-register the DNS
a. Click Start. Type cmd in the search box and press ENTER.
b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
It will display the message properly emptied the cache of DNS resolution.
c. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
d. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
The command ipconfig/all command displays for all your network adapters, TCP/IP in Windows settings.
If your IP address of your Local network connection is 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x (where x is a number any), then your computer does not receive an IP address from router.
If this is the case, try this:
i. enough at the command prompt ipconfig and press ENTER
II. ipconfig / renew in command prompt and press ENTER
The test again by typing ipconfig/all to see what is the address? (If you are on a router, it should start by or 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x 10.x.x.x)
Method 2:
a. click Start and then click Control Panel.
b. go to the networking and sharing Center and then click on change adapter settings.
c. right-click on connection to the Local network and select Properties.
d. Select Internet Protocol Version 6, and then click Properties.
e. choose the DNS server to obtain an address automatically , then press Ok.
f. Select obtain IP address automatically.
g. Repeat steps for Internet Protocol version 4 as well.
I hope this helps. If the problem persists, or if you have problems of Windows in the future, let us know and we would be happy to help you.

Hi there I have an acer aspire one and I have a problem with my wireless connection.
Hi there I have an acer aspire one and I have problems with my wireless connection.it is connected, but I can't use internet.any thoughts? Thank you
A look at the "front" face, under the lip of the keyboard, similar to where a lock would be on a laptop. There is here a cursor that is not a lock, but it is a switch that activates / deactivates him wireless on and outside. Slide it on until it turns on the light above it (with the logo of the antenna), indicating wireless is turned on and drag it again to turn it off.

So, recently, I installed a new router. After restarting my modem as indicated in after connecting the router to the modem, I was surprised to see that the wireless network has been renamed to (name) 2. I continued with the installation and soon found that it happened too much to the network from the router, and none of them does not seem to work. They tell me that the DNS server is not responding. for the last ive tried day every last problem I can be downloaded on the internet and nothing seems to work. pls help
Original title: renamed networks and will not work
Check if your modem has a built-in router. If so, it should be disabled until your router works. If this is a new router, contact the manufacturer of the router. They will help you.
It is not likely a problem on your computer.

DNS server does not not with new wireless router!
I've just set up a new internet connection via a cisco wireless router turned my my ISP. Since then, I was not able to access the web pages. I am connected to the network, but continue to receive the message that the DNS server is not responding. Other laptops that use older versions of windows have no problems.
I tried in many of the solutions provided on other posts, but nothing is done and have just restored my system to hopefully undo changes so that I can start again.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Jack
I am well connected via UPC which was formerly NTL, and I watched Hostmaster Chello Broadband and it seems to be part of the UPC also. I don't know if I have a network manager.
However, my problems seem to have been resolved, I deleted the files and programs that were downloaded from the internet, including protection against viruses and a program called utorrent and have replace my virus protection with microsoft security databases. Ran malware bytes, I know not if I have to run this next to most of the security.
I hope that my problems have been fixed, but I'll be back if they occur again. Thanks for your time and your help.

Hello, I have a desktop PC and a laptop (DELL Inspiron N-4050).
I have problem with my internet connection cable which is working fine on my PC, but does not not on my laptop giving an error "no access to the network. When I troubleshoot it says "your computer seems to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS SERVER) is not responding."
I said to many technicians of microsoft online response, but they could not solve my problem and said this is my DNS problem and advised me to contact my Internet service provider. Guess it's because of my internet so why it works on my PC not on laptop?Yesterday, my ethernet cable pulled out my cell phone and I couldn't connect to the internet more. But on my desktop PC, it works perfectly fine. (I do not use wifi, if this information is also required) I have studied several threads with similar situations, and I have tried different methods to solve the problem to no avail. I did a system restore, but I'm having no luck. Also, I did not of the latest changes with my anti virus software and my LAN card drivers look to date.
When I remove my cable from the laptop and again connect my cable then it works but only after the PC sat for awhile.
1.I did flush DNS by typing "ipconfig/flushdns" in the command prompt.
2. my IP address, DNS, subnet mask etc are set to automatic.
3.I also added physical address taken from command line giving "ipconfig/all". for the properties of the network driver settings.
4.I ' installed the drivers to date of 2014 on my laptop.
5.I did a lot of searching the web, but they do not solve my problem. Please help me to solve it.
I appreciate your help.

The DNS server does not - wired - wireless is OK
Hi all
This problem has left speechless several other computer scientists, I thought I'd try this forum before making a complete reinstallation. Here's a challenge to test your intelligence.
Here's the situation:
Dell laptop (11 months - still under warranty) with Wi - Fi and ability. Originally supplied with Vista, but I installed Win7 in November. I tried to do the clean installation method, but do not know if I managed to 'clean' approach because I thought that my data may be wiped. He was not, he is still on the machine. But W7 seems to work very well, I added Slowey some software. I think I was able to communicate with a wired connection before on the machine, but now I can't be sure. The machine communicates wireless without problem. IE8 opens fine. If I connect the wire and cut the antenna or boot to the wire with antenna, the machine starts and works well, but does not connect using IE8. I get a message "the DNS server is not responding.
The machine can ping and ping just fine on the wire. A chat session with Dell yesterday (Citrix I think) succeeded in transferring to wire wireless when I turned off the antenna. In addition, the MS patch notification came through this morning, but I can't download the patches on the wire.
Here is what has been tried so far:
- Changed cables and ports in the router to check the status of these question: these are OK.
- PC directly connected to the router: same problem.
- Verified services running (Control Panel-Admin tools-Online Services online):
System event COM + (for WZC issues)
Computer browser
DHCP client
DNS client
Network connections
Network location awareness
Remote procedure call (RPC)
Server
TCP/IP Netbios support
Automatic configuration wireless (only XP wireless configurations)
Autoconfiguration WLAN (wireless Vista only configurations) service
Workstation - Verified IPv4 is defined in order to obtain the IP address automatically.
- Reset IE8. No change.
- Turned off the Windows Firewall.
- Tried to access internet using Chrome. No go.
- Wired NETWORK card uninstalled and reinstalled driver. Downloaded last at Dell, they pushed also later. No luck.
- Tried the Google Open DNS. No difference.
- ipconfig/flushdns
- TCP/IP stack repair (run as Administrator: start, all Programs\Accessories and right click on command prompt, select "run as administrator" to open a command prompt.)
-Entries reset WINSOCK to default installation: netsh winsock reset catalog
-Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv4 default installation. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
-Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv6 default installation. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log - While in Safe Mode, disconnected wire: uninstalled the driver for the CARD. Started full W7: installed the latest driver.
- In Safe Mode, the stack TCP/IP repair as described above.
All to nothing does not. IE does not connect to the internet. Chrome is not connecting to the internet.
You people have any ideas what the devil is wrong with this machine? Can you offer any suggestions to try to get access wired for the functioning of the internet?
Thanks in advance!
Hello Stringout,
I said to reset the router because the router is the DNS server and assigns the IP address to all devices on the network. Now, since you get the error "DNS server is not responding. It may possible that this router is not able to assign the correct ip address to all computers.
You can also try to update the router with the latest firmware. Still, Microsoft!

Unable to connect to the internet, the dns server is not responding
Hello
It is the second system I've seen in the last two weeks with this question, I reloaded the OS on the first. The system is Windows Vista Ultimate x 64.
That is the problem. Open Internet Explorer 9 on a Windows 7 PC, you get the message:
Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage
Click on diagnose connection problems, you get the following:
The DNS server is not responding
Look at a detailed information your told to contact your network administrator (this is me - no other XP or Windows 7 PC on the network has a connection problem).
Below that is the message:
Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or does not exist.
Note that this is a laptop that has started on another network with the same problem. I took it to my office to solve problems. My DNS server is a WIndows SBS 2003 server.
Below that is a log file of etl you cannot open (Notepad considers undesirable, much of the use that is).
The steps I did to try to resolve the problem.
Virus system scan
There is no hosts file, I've recreated which.
The static value IP and DNS.
I can ping the DNS server by its IP address, but not by name.
I put the DNS address to 208.67.222.222
Restored network drivers
Reininstalled all network drivers
Disable Microsoft Virtual WiFi adapter
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hello
Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.
According to the description of the problem, I understand that you can not connect to the network on your computer.
I can understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected.
To better understand this issue, I would like to know the following information:
1. What is the brand and model of the computer?
2. did you of recent changes to the computer before this problem?
3. you receive an error during the network connection code failed?
DNS (Domain Name System) translates the URL in IP (Internet Protocol) addresses (and vice versa). For example, if you type http://www.microsoft.com into the address bar in your web browser, your computer sends a request to a DNS server. The DNS server translates the URL to an IP address so that your computer can find the Microsoft web server.
We will try the following methods and check if it helps.
Method 1: I suggest you clear the DNS cache and see if that fixes the problem. Clear the DNS cache forces DNS to query a DNS server rather than using the information stored in the cache.
Follow these steps:
a. click on the 'Start' button.
b b.. in the search box, type "command prompt"
c. in the list of results, click on invite and then click on run as administrator
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
d. at the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns
Restart the computer and see if that fixes the problem.
Method 2: If you still have questions, I suggest you refer to the suggestions of Meghmala responded on 28 June 2011 from the link below.
You can also see the following article for more information:
How can I troubleshoot network card?

Hope this information helps, please respond with the requested information and the status of the question to get help. We will be happy to help you.
