iMac (27-inch, late 2012) shut down

Hello

I contacted AppleCare 4 times now with the same defect and have nowhere fast, I can't dispense with the pillar to post so decided to post my problem on here hoping someone may be able to shed some light?

MY iMac has recently begun stop intermittently, sometimes it would last 10 minutes, sometimes an hour, completely random. The only way to turn the computer back on is to unplug the unit from the outlet for 20 seconds then plug it back, the computer would then turn back on until it shuts down again.

Make a small fishing, I read that this could be a hardware problem with the system management controller who said the Councilor in support of AppleCare. They seem very reluctant to book me for a visit to the Genius Bar and have me was reset, by unplugging over and over again. The last recommendation was to charge me OSX on my iMac, and even though I told the agent that my computer wouldn't stay on long enough to do what he told me to go ahead and everything would be OK.

Of course, the recharge did not last long until I lost all its power again.

So now, I have an expensive computer that is no longer start, and stay long enough to load any software and a Genius Bar that is so fully booked that no appointment is available in the foreseeable future.

Does anyone else have this problem? I feel like I'm banging my head on a brick wall.

  • iMac won't restart or shut down after having been 10.11.5

He said title. My iMac was fine before the update came through yesterday. I went to reboot tonight because the RAM used was realllllly high and I thought a solid reboot after update from yesterday could be a good thing (don't ask why - just my logic)... and surprise! -He has authorized the menu bar and leave viewfinder, but would not closed at all. I could always use the dock to load and use applications. I saw another thread that mentions deleting stuff from Wacom. I went and emptied all of my items found from Wacom. Still will not be closed. I have reset several times VRAM. I can do a forced shutdown, and he'll sleep ok. Activity monitor shows nothing super weird, even if it always shows Wacom and Tablet drivers running.

Anyone else running into this? Or have an idea?

    Please?

    Hello..

Safe Mode boot removes the system caches that can help after an OS X day or level.

Upper left corner of your screen, click on the Apple  > Shut Down.

After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key. You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

Once you are in Mode without failure, return to the menu Apple . In the drop-down list, click: reboot

  • My 2013 iMac 27 inch runs very slowly

My iMac (27-inch, late 2013, with a 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 processor) has been gradually slowing down for a while. I get the dreaded beach ball a lot, sometimes by what seems to be really simple things. Today I left it on when running only Safari. I woke up, I got a message from the system that I was running on the memory of the application and must force quit some applications. With 24 GB RAM available, which didn't make sense to me (I had recently installed 16 GB of RAM (2 x 8) OWC in addition to the original 8 GB (2 x 4), for a total of 24 GB of memory).

I am running OS X El Capitan (10.11.2). I think I can inadvertently installed some malicious programs. AppleCare is still in force.

As conditions gradually got worse ovewr the past few months, I tried:

    • Drive 4 Pulse, indicating, I had critical hardware issues, but I never got their thing Bootwell to work, even with the help of their support team. They recommended that replace the hard drive.
    • Apple support. Thay suggested I run Apple Diagnostics, but when he finds nothing wrong, they couldn't do anything. At the time it wasn't that bad and I didn't really drag a 27-inch iMac down to the Genius Bar for help.
    • SpeedTools Utilities Pro. It seemed easier to use than driving impulses. Running a live scan, he finds 54 501 bad sectors on my hard drive of 1 TB. But still, nothing showed on Apple Diagnostics.

Your office is frozen?   If not, stop or reboot can wait for something to finish - you close all open applications?   Allow you your system to connect to the internet (these pesky background downloads or you are not always aware of synchronization)

As for hard shutdown - with button / stop

Have you held in the power button for about 15 seconds to stop hard - otherwise he's asleep.

After unplugging - press and hold the power button in for 15 seconds to evacuate the power of mac - that can help.

Before giving up the 10.11, let's see if we can find what is the problem... Download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information
