iMac 5K with ultra wide screen LG

Hello

I just ordered a 5K iMac and I currently have an LG monitor ultra wide 34UC87-C I had to connect to the Mac. My question is which compatible cable should I buy given the resolution 3440 x 1440 p of the external monitor. It is not a thunderbolt port, but a display port & 2 HDMI ports.

I saw a few cables as poster thunderbolt or HDMI port for love at first sight available on Amazon, but I'm not sure that one to choose or provide you with the best image quality.

Thank you in advance for the clarification.

You want to use a Mini DisplayPort Connector Display Port cable.

  • External ultra wide screen not working not not on MBP 15

Hello - Ok, I spent a ridiculous amount of time on it so I hope that someone has had this problem before.

We have a few that ultrawide poster here and each one has a resolution of 2560 x 1080. We also have a couple 13 '' Macbook pro 15. They do not seem to get along well.

Symptom1: When plugged into the ultra wide monitors via HDMI, the resolution is 2560 x 1080 native, but this is horrible... text is blurry, the colours are strange, just terrible.

Symptom2: If connect us via Thunderbolt monitors in a Dual Link DVI cable, image is more neat and clean, but OS X allows only a max of 1920 x 1080 resolution.

More information: this happens on all of our ultra screens wide. When plug us these screens on a pc, it is literally plug and play. These aren't the high-end computers in the slightest... much cheaper than our Mbps.

Anyone run into this and you could provide guidance?

  • 21:9 (2560 x 1080) ultra wide screen Macbook Air does not work after macOS Sierra

I have a problem with my LG 29UM58.-p.

After the installation of macOS Sierra Switchresx (4.5.3) isn't my custom resolution 2560 x 1080 more. I already tried to uninstall Switchresx and took new custom resolutions, but it did not help... First of all, it did not save my custom resolutions and then he said no "installed" or "active - invalid? Also, someone said if you made an additional account on your mac and then define custom resolutions, you can then use it in your normal macaccount, but he also didn't work...

I tried (almost) everything... before the update of the software it was working fine.  Oh and also I use HDMI to mini displayport.

Could someone help me out here?

    Thank you very much!

  • Software monitors ultra-wide desperately need to change!

I just bought 2 x U2913WM. I must say they are very good (I need a lot of space on the screen for my work and I used 3 monitors to cover what I need, the 2 ultra-wides do same work as the 3 regular monitors for me). I must say that Dell has done a very good job by jumping into this trend. I'm almost happy. There is however a small problem and I hope that Dell will fix it up soon (given that it's very new range of monitors and hard to get the stock to the United Kingdom-, I waited 2 weeks to receive). The question is in ease of use. Obviously a normal person cannot use such a wide screen as a regular monitor (most of the time, for me it is 99% of the time) - when you need a few windows on the same screen and you would not bother to try adjust sizes whenever you jump a high window - to keep do not overlap and beautiful and tidy... Right... This is the display Dell Manager... It was a great job for you help organize your desktop. You can pin your windows in small spaces of customizable virtual display... Which is what is needed! However, there is a hiccup I want Dell to resolve as soon as possible... The problem is that whenever you take a window of the header - display Manager starts working and there is no way to avoid once the window is caught. So - you can not move a window without being pinned as soon as you release (maximized in the closest of the virtual screen). It's _very_ counterproductive because there are a lot of small windows that must remain the size they are, and if you want to move them they must leave with this size... I would like that someone from Dell support to spread my comments to team development as soon as possible. I don't know that this can be resolved very easily (for example if you add a keyboard stokes in this image, you can simply have for example Ctrt + Window_Grab to mean - do not pin the window etc.). I use Windows 7 x 64. Thank you

    Can someone have the answer.
    Thanks anyway.

    Hey,.

I think that it s according to the external display what resolutions it supports.
Normally, your computer user manual laptop, you will find a list of the supported screen resolutions and you should check this!

I also recommend to install the last page of Toshiba display driver.

  • How to activate the resolution wide screen to external monitor on Equium A60?

    Hello

I had an Equium A60 with an ATI Radion 7000 mobility grahpics chip in it. Earlier the LCD is dead and has decided to use an external monitor rather than replace it. However, the external monitor is a monitor 22 '' widescreen computer does not provide a display suitable for resolution. Is it possible to update the graphics driver to provide the wide screen formats. I looked on the toshiba updates, but there is nothing new there, and ATI are not ready to support offer it on a laptop.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

You can't choose your preferred resolution because the graphics driver does not support.
Eventually the 3rd party driver support your favorite display resolution, but to be honest I wouldn't use these drivers because it could cause serious difficulties for laptop.
The point is that these 3 third-party drivers are untested and not certified by Toshiba.
Therefore, the use is at your own risk.

  • Samsung Ultra wide angle (S29E790C) Compatibiblity

    Hello

I have a laptop USPHL-LT-1238RG and wishes to buy a monitor Samsung ultra wide, specifically the model S29E790C.  My laptop is useful with this model?  Would there be problems?

    Best regards

    Samantha

DisplayPort is a specific type of interface for the transport of signals from a computer to a monitor. I know that this monitor has a Displayport connection for the input signal. The reason why I need to know the model of the laptop is to see if it supports Displayport out.

    The cable looks like this:

    https://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort

And your laptop has a displayport on it. See page 2 item 2 of the plug here:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04472796.PDF

Samsung also provides the software for monitors ultra wide angle that is useful.

  • Cannot set resolution wide screen on Satellite A100

I have a Hanns G HG216D 22 "(visible de 21,6")) LCD display external, who hails from WSXGA (1680 x 1050) and is horrible to other resolutions. "
I can't select the correct resolution in XP or Vista (I know, because having failed I restored (clean install of authentic Pro with SP2 disc) XP then failed on XP used a Vista Business Upgrade disc to try Vista.)
    But nothing helps: (.)

The laptop is a Toshiba A100 PSAA8 with a graphics processor Intel 945 G Chipset.

    Here's what I've tried:

There is a driver on the disk of the specifically labeled monitor as for Vista 32-bit, so I used the disc have... 'trick' via Device Manager to force Vista to use this INF file, I tried adding EDID (or was - this CSD, something like that) data to the pilot (after driving backward before re - apply incase she thought it was the same driver), I tried PowerStrip, although I'm not familiar with it, 99% some it work well (, one of the first things I tried was using the specially created driver for this chipset that is designed to solve this problem very issue (http://www.Intel.com/support/Graphics/SB/CS-028366.htm)), any ideas?

The LCD has DDC2 and activated but EnTech MonInfo cannot get any data from it. I think I should go back to Linux; never had a technical problem I can't solve there (only DRM related issues, etc.), only problem I use this machine for work and don't mind using virtualization for some things but not for "critical to pay my rent" stuff!

I don't have another machine to test the screen either, as my sister lost with my laptop alternative.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :).

    Hey Buddy,

Then I read a little in some forums on your question. The first question is: have you updated your BIOS? It's really important because many users in the forums Ubuntu has reported that, after that an updated bios updated widescreen stuff work. Since the you´re works with Vista, I would say firstly you update your BIOS, remove all drivers display with 'Driver Cleaner Pro' and then try the drivers from the website of intel again (as an especially for this wide screen problem)

Maybe it works, I confused why it doesn't since this chipset is designed to pull many of the higher resolutions and even all res widescreen 1680 x 1050 and 1440 x 900.

Just give a short answer on your situation. :)

    Welcome them

P.S.: If you try with linux check this thread on the ubuntu forums:

Bought a Monitor wide screen LCD (Asus VE276Q) to replace my existing LCD display.  RGA is an entry.

    Thank you

    Hi clydex2,

    • You try to adjust the resolution via the Nvidia Control Panel or through the Vista display settings?
    • What type of monitor displayed in display settings?
    • What is the highest resolution that you are able to select this screen?

If you had loaded a driver Acer and were able to set the resolution, then you can try to back the driver after that update.

    1. Right-click on the device and go to Properties
    2. Select the driver tab
    3. Select restore driver
