Import Outlook Express e-mail and addresses

We install the mail Tbird on xp client. Question: if I import my willingness to data (address book, emails, folders) they always remain on Outlook Express, or they will be gone? Is essentially importing a MOVEMENT or a COPY function?

This is a copy and translate the action, the former do not get affected at all.

Old system: Vista & Windows Mail
    New system: Windows 7 Ultimate (64) & Outlook 2007

Prior to installation, we have saved copies of records of e-mail and address books for the two users on a disk partition.  These same files are also still available in windows.old.

I wish that prospects to find them and convert a PST file but can't seem to make it work. I tied each combination in the functionality of Outlook 'import' and even tried to drag the old emails in the outlook Inbox (just create a new email with the .eml attachment file)

What should I install Windows mail, that he could recognize the old addresses / and then inport to Outlook?  Maybe then Outlook will look for them in their actual location?

You cannot import data from Windows Mail directly in Outlook. See...

In your case, you must first download/install Windows LIVE Mail and then import data from Windows Mail in this e-mail client. After that, you can EXPORT data from Windows LIVE Mail to Outlook (compared to import the data into Outlook).

Yes, this is all very confusing. Adding to the confusion:

    1. you must set Windows LIVE Mail as your default for mail in CUSTOM (<>) item Set Program Access and computer by default in Win7 before any function send to or MailTo will become available.

Looks like something aside server.  Not to mention that change IPs and when you go to IPv6, the whole game changes.

What email client you use that gives you this option now?

You can block entire domains...  (Outlook in any case, not sure about the rest.)

  • Outlook Express main identity and Comcast email server

I use Outlook Express (Internet Explorer 8) in Windows XP Pro.  A year and half ago my main identity ceased to be able to access the new emails through my Comcast email server account, but my other two (not main) identities Comcast can download all of their new emails.  I just get a message "unknown error", said that the main identity account cannot access the server.  PS. I can send emails, but I can't receive them.  I tried to look at all the POP and SMTP elements and they do not seem to be wrong Comcast took me through several steps but said the probel in my OExpress program and they were no help at all after that.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Tip: Create an identity third to replace the main identity. Import messages and address book and if it works well, remove the main identity.

Make sure that the SMTP port is set to 587 and my server requires authentication is enabled. (Many Comcast Tech don't even know it).

Close the scanner software and then open OE and compose a new message and attach the scanned file.

    Multiple e-mail accounts

How can I configure two Time Warner Cable Road Runner under Outlook Express e-mail accounts? I wish I could separate emails for each account, but the access or the other at any time.
You can use two different identities, or if you want to have access to these accounts in identity, set up your accounts and use message rules to move incoming messages.

First, create a local folder to be used as a second Inbox and name it anything you want.  Use it to one of the accounts, as well as the default Inbox for the other.

    Then create a message rule.

Where the message comes from the specified account.
Move it to the specified folder & stop processing more rules.
Click: specified account and enter the account name for the second Inbox.
Click: specified folder and select the folder that you created.
    Name the rule.

Move the rule to the top of the list of rules, and incoming messages will be separated into their respective folders.

Outlook is an Office program. Outlook Express is an email client that has been built into XP and previous versions. If you click on "help |" On... "in Outlook, it will tell you the version.

I know almost nothing about other Outlook versions prior to the 2003 version are not compatible with Win7.

  • Problem importing email files from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail. Not all the imported outlook express folders are visible

I followed your instructions and now have "storage folders" visible. However that a single user account recorded message records showing if you keep double clicking and scrolling down. There are 3 other user accounts whose records are not visible. I tried as well by importing and using Windows Easy Transfer for all alphanumeric codes in Outlook Express. I signed into Live Mail using the other our of the user, but this does not solve the problem... Please tell us how to transfer files from my old computer Windows XP to the new W7 mail.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

V-2011: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

For WLMail 2011: Switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

  • I have Outlook Express e-mail Icon stick on opening and does not end is there too much mail, how can I fix it?

When you click the icon to open my Outlook Express icon (envelope) sticks on the screen of the monitor and does not open. Is there a way to get into the program to remove at least half or the whole of all the e-mail. It was not opening now for several days if I'm afraid it's risk of stuck with e-mail. I have been looking for a job online and get a ton of e-mail. I can get through the control panel and I think I saw the problem, but I don't know how to remove it. Help!

    I welcome suggestions. Rosemary

    Folders.dbx is probably damaged.

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.

Error 0x800CCC0E = unable to connect to the server
The Socket 10051 error may be an SMTP port is blocked.

Some ISPS prevent their users access to conventional servers SMTP 'outside' using e-mail programs like Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape.

To verify that your ISP is blocking SMTP (port 25) connections, you must Telnet to the SMTP server of the command prompt (DOS prompt):

    1. Start-> Run-> enter 'command'-> click on 'ok '.
    2. type 'telnet mail.yourdomain.com 25' back guest

In the case you receive the message "Connection refused" or the time-out period, you should contact your provider to demand access to open port 25 in their firewall or proxy. Or ask if they have changed the port number.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to import Outlook Express 6 directories?

I am currently using Outlook Express 6 with Microsoft Office 2003. How to copy the address book in Mozilla?

There is no cut and paste. Simply not possible.
There are a few changes you can make for Thunderbird to use the windows address book. See http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/windows-contacts.html

Note that the windows address book is stored in a WAB file and you will need to move to a new computer because it does not part of Thunderbird. Later versions of Windows do import the contacts folder to the very simple windows point and click action.
