Import storage folders in Windows Live Mail

I'm the data transfer between an old hard drive on a hard nine.  I have all my messages, which included a large number of records of the old "exported" disk drive storage  Now I'm trying to "import" messages and he tells me that the records "are empty or currently in use by another program".  They are not empty... I see clearly that the date transferred correctly.  How can I get the messages and storage records are imported into Windows Live Mail on my new hard drive?

Thank you

Problem solved.  As it came from WLM, I said that the import program just WLM.  When I said that he was from Windows Mail, it transferred OK.

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for posting the query on the Microsoft Community Forums. You have reached the right place. Let us work together to find the cause of this problem and try to solve.

A quick view is view a selection of messages in mail folders. Any message that you see in the Quick views is actually located in one of the folders that you can see in the files pane. Windows Live Mail only 'auto delete' whatever it is. If you are facing the same question next time, hear is the procedure to enable or disable the quick pane.

Open Windows Live mail > toolbar above, click on view > click on filters > should be the point of view quick return at the top of the folders pane.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have other problems with Windows in the future.

  • Transfer from Windows mail Vista to Windows live mail on Windows 7

I've recently updated my PC from Windows Vista to Windows 7. As my computer is slow, I decided to format the drive before proceeding with the upgrade. I backed up all my files on an external hard drive before the format. Once the format was complete I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the new Windows Live Mail e-mail program I've read that Windows Mail will not work on Windows 7. Now I have difficulties to transfer my Windows Mail e-mail in Windows Live Mail. Hoping you can help. Regards Alan

    Hi Aland298,

All imported messages appear under storage folders in Windows Live Mail. There should be an arrow next to the icon "imported". Expand the arrow. You should probably see your emails.

However, your message will be more well adapted in the following forum link.

  • Where on my drive "C" are stored the files I saved in the "store folder" in Windows Live Mail? I want to save my external hard drive but cannot find them.

I saved important emails in the "storage folders" in Windows Live Mail and I want to make sure that they are saved in case something happens to my hard drive.  I have an external hard drive where I do a regular backup, but can find the files so I can move them and include them in my scheculed backup.

  • Windows Live Mail 2011 - import E-mail Mess

Before installing a new hard drive in my laptop, I exported all my messages from email in Windows Live Mail 2011. I installed the new hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows Live Essentials 2011 which includes Windows Live Mail 2011. After you import all my e-mail exported, I noticed that a lot of messages not correctly appear in the reading pane, or pourraient they be open by double-clicking.

When I saw the contents of the following directory: 'C:\Users\Clint\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail' I saw all my *.eml files, but many of those messages would not preview or open it from the Windows Live Mail 2011 application. This was the case even after the file > Options > Mail > Advanced tab > key Maintenance > Compact the database on shutdown every tracks 1 > output > restart the procedure.

I discovered that Windows Explorer, if I dragged an e-mail "not readable" among the "storage folders" and moved to the "Inbox" folder and then reopen Windows Live Mail 2011, that the email would be visible in the reading pane and that it could also be opened by double click. The e-mail could then be extended to a storage folder in Windows Live Mail 2011 application.

However, following this procedure changed how the 'From' and 'To' names were displayed. Rather than showing just the name of the person as the sender or recipient, e-mail list would show the name of the person as well as the email address in quotation marks and parentheses like this format: 'Name' * address email is removed from the privacy *>

Is there a way to fix the way the name is now displayed in the registration e-mail so that it appears without the * address email is removed from the privacy *> address?

Also, is there a better way to solve the original problem of imported enamel is not not readable in Windows Live Mail 2011? Cleaning up my email using the above method took several weeks of hard work.

(Please note that all my email registered has been contained and organized in folders nested 'storage' within Windows Live Mail 2011 before export.) My email is set up to be deleted on the mail servers when it is moved from my Windows Live Mail 2011 "inbox" to one of my "storage folders". Also, I use multiple e-mail accounts, a being * address email is removed from the privacy * and being * address email is removed from the privacy * . Before the export and import of e-mail, I never had problems with Windows Live Mail. I have compacted as frequently the database.)

  • Installed windows 7 and windows live mail. now I want to import my messages from windows mail, and they will not matter. I really need the messages because they have a lot of important information in them.

Would be really happy for any help.  The application tells me that they have been moved to the storage area, but they are not there.

    Help.

Is your username mentioned in the tab security for storage files and all subfolders, and has 'full control '?

If these files are really empty then the transfer/import routine failed for some unknown (to me) reason.

Have you tried to copy all old messages from the Windows.old folder, put in a file in your user name for example Documents and then import from there?   It is perhaps necessary to remove to another location in the current storage folder in Windows Live Mail rather than simply delete before rerunning the import program.

Have you tried to temporarily disable your anti program virus and other security programs to see if that blocks emails appear?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  First try checking not be (read-only) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If this is the case, start by checking the two boxes, in no other rerun.

  • Import contacts from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail

I just bought a new Dell computer and it has Windows 7.  My old computer has Windows XP.  Can I import my list of contacts from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail and, if so, how can I go about it?

I selected files, folders and search under the heading Windows as I couldn't see Windows Live Mail in the list of topics.

    Thank you.

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

For WLMail 2011: Switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

  • How to import Windows Live Mail storage folders in Thunderbird

I am trying to import the .eml files that I have in storage files in WLM in Thunderbird. Of the help section on Thunderbird:

Windows Mail (.eml files) in Thunderbird import is enabled by ImportExport third-party add-on tools. Download and install this add-on to transfer messages from Windows Live Mail into Thunderbird.

However, import Tools is an as file and my computer (Windows 7) cannot open it. Although I found an online program that convert into something readable, my software virus identified the program as malware. Does anyone know a way to safely convert a file as something Windows can recognize and run?

Or y at - it another way to get this add-on to run?

You should have a new tab under tools at the bottom that says "import/export - tools".
You can watch modules / Modules to see if
ImportExportTools is installed and activated. The choice of installation it is probably fine as it is.
