Importing RAW + JPEG photos files times

I put up my Nikon D5100 to shoot RAW + JPEG files when I take pictures. Photos is to import both, when I just want to import JPEG files. Can I separate the two formats and delete the RAW files in pictures? Also, how can I stop the RAW files to import in the first place?

If I search for RAW files in Photos, the program shows them, but when I choose 'Get Info' on them, they show that the JPEG. Really weird...

Yes you are right - this is exactly how it works - to use the RAW format as the original for editing then editing for a photo mode, click on use RAW original title in the menu image - these photos will have a RAW badge on them, others will have a JPEG badge on them--Photos that are found only in a format do not have a badge on them

And I suggest review you both RAW and JPEG shooting and shoot that you want - if you pull them both, and then import that you'll both in Photos - you can use Image capture and import from the camera on the disc and separate form BRUTE of the JPEG and import only the one you want - but even for me it is just logical to the format you want to shoot not the format you want

  • Develop settings when importing RAW + jpeg

When you import my D700 NEF files, I apply the sharpening preset landscape and I'm happy with the results.  However on my Fuji X 20 I import RAW + jpeg rather than just RAW, in this situation if I use the landscape sharpening sharpening preset is applied for JPEG and RAW format, leading to the already sharp in-camera jpeg being much more sharp.  If on the other hand I have not to use any to develop pr - game no sharpening or noise reduction is applied to the jpeg format and a minimal amount applied to the file RAW, more or less what I want but I want the sharpening of landscape higher applied to RAW files.  Is - this here anyway to change pre-sets frame so that they have only applied to RAW files when importing RAW + jpeg pairs?

    Dave Rosser

In my view, the answer is no, you cannot apply a preset upon import, depending on the type of file.

What you can do is after import you, filter on the Type of file and place it in JPG format and apply another preset that changes the sharpening of the filtered set of files, then go back and disable the filter and works with both sets of images you want.

To filter by file Type, you must go to the library network, activate the filter with the backslash bar-key if necessary, then select metadata and change one of the columns existing filter to tell the Type of file or add a new column of file Type.

Once you have created and applied the filter, you can save it as a preset filter that can be applied by the predefined filter selector to the very good and just above the strip of thumbnails at the bottom, same mode develop.

You could do one for raw and jpg in case you want to swap between the two, and if you shoot jpg with more than one camera model, you can add the model of camera for the filter criteria.

  • Importing and organizing photo files lightroom 5 for the first time. Clean photo hard drive files

I have a trial version of lightroom 5 and would like one once and forall to restore order to my two drives hard and lightroom 5 collection. Some photos in lightroom 5 seem to have lost their way. Some are in folders of Windows 7 and others are 9 elements. I made backup copies of some records and would like to have a more systematic approach to save them in the future. I have a NAS (network access storage) device and an additional hard drive, I thought that it would be better to use my cell phone as main for my photo files working memory such that it would be faster to work with the NAS or external and then again everything down to the NAS and external. I consider that the main challenge group all files and as much as possible to preserve the sides I gave photos; I would like to eliminate duplicats. on both the hard drive and in lightroom. I watched one of the vidios of initial training on the 'library' of the adobe help section and the presenter talked about two ways to import photos. the first and I think that I will use in the future is to open lightroom and import from the SD directly rather than having the Windows 7 import, and then ask to lightroom to find them. If anyone Kow of an exhaustive enumeration of the instructions on how to clean up my hard drives that would be extremely useful? Peter

I doubt that it is a list of instructions to wipe a hard drive, because each starting situation is different and your 'own' is probably very different than my "clean".

But let's clear up a few things first. From your writings, it seems that you think that you have stored pictures in post-secondary education and photos stored in LR. This is not correct. None of these programs to store your photos. All your pictures are on your hard drive, in folders, somewhere.

Regarding the missing photos in Lightroom, when you move or rename your photos and folders outside of the Lightroom, Lightroom doesn't know where they are and bring back them as being absent. To fix it, see: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm related to that, you don't want to 'clean up' things in Windows and also "clean things" upward in Lightroom. Instead, once you import photos into Lightroom, you must do all the managing photos in Lightroom, not Windows, otherwise you'll just create several missing files.

Regarding duplicates, Lightroom has some tools to detect duplicates. He will try to prevent duplicates during the import, and if you are unable to import duplicates, you can use the "auto stack by Capture time" to try to find additional duplicates. But if those who do not work, then're it pretty much on your own.

With regard to put photos on your laptop to work on them rather than on your external hard drive, I think you will find that this gives a fraction of a second speed improvement that you may even not notice, which will be offset by the time you spend moving somewhere else photos when finished. So just put the photos in their final destination on your external HD or a NAS file and don't bother moving them to the internal HD.

Which leads to another point. Once you have done this 'cleaning', your workflow should be to put the photos in a place and then do not transfer! (Exception: not enough space on the disk or moving to another drive/computer) Make your life easier as possible.

One last point: seriously consider using keywords and other metadata for the Organization, rather than move photos/files from here to there, to reach the organization. These tools in Lightroom will give you the possibility of organizing in a much more powerful and flexible organization and what you can do by moving the photos/files from here to there. (Note: If you want all the photos in a sort of centralized location because it meets your storage needs, can do that because it meets your storage needs.) In this collection of photos in a centralized location, using keywords and other metadata to achieve organization and research)

  • How to import raw Sony A6300 files in LR 5.7.1

I use Lightroom version 5.7.1.  I sailed the Pacific in my boat and you can almost never get good internet, so I am totally opposed to the concept of creative cloud.  I bought a camera Sony Alpha 6300 and LR does not Sony. ARW raw format.  How can I import and edit these files?  LR require Camera Raw or DNG converter plugins?  If so, how to make and how to set them.  I can't seem to find on the Adobe site regarding the LR5.

This has nothing to do with the creative cloud.

Your device is too recent, Lightroom 5.7.1 does not have the ability to recognize the new camera raw format.

You can buy Lightroom 6.5 or later and import the raw in Lightroom 6.5 or later. or you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter version 9.5 or later and import the DNG in Lightroom 5.7.1

  • Import raw format photos to PES 12

Can't import Canon 70 d raw format photos to PSE 12.  He said THAT PSE 12 had all the software needed for this.  When trying to download, message telling me that the PSE 12 does not support my type of camera or format.  Do I need to save my pictures with a different extension than the import of cr2before?   I need to download PNG or updated from Adobe software?  Thanks for any help.  Rob

PSE12 comes with ACR8.0/8.1. Support for the D-70 was in ACR8.2. Run help > updates, it updates to ACR8.4 and you will have 70 d support.

Downloaded from where? If you have imported from your digital camera
It may be possible that the files are corrupt. Sometimes this can
occurs when downloading from a photo shooting session when the
    the batteries are low.

Might be interesting to try to change the batteries in the camera with charges
ones and download the photos again. If you have a
internal external media player ir... try to insert your memory card

  • The import panorama fusion photo file size?

Is it necessary to convert files to JPEG when you do a panorama of merger of photo. I keep is said to convert 8-bit to 16-bit and don't know how to do this.

What version of photoshop elements and the operating system are you using?

If these are files camera raw, then most likely the camera raw converter is set to open 16-bit/channel files in photoshop elements.

You can change this by opening a file of the camera, and then, at the bottom of the camera raw dialog thought set the depth of 8 Bits/channel and then press done.

Try your pano again and see if that makes a difference.

  • How to import pictures and Photos files

    Hello

    From the Finder?

    Thanks in advance!

    Carolyn

Basically you can drag folders with pictures directly in the window of Photos or the Photos icon in the Dock.

Or use the command "file > import" and select the folder in the file selector Panel.

The Photos appear in the album last import. And pictures will warn of possible duplicates.

But if you want to create albums for folders in the Finder, use an Apple Script.  Can't stand the pictures to match the folder structure in the finder for albums.  See this tip for the user:

  • Photos wants to import the same photos every time.

Whenever I have connect the iPhone 6, most to the iMac, Photos opens and lists the pictures that have not yet been imported. However, many photos in the list are old photos that supposedly already have been imported. These same pictures appear in the import list every time. Their import * one-more-time * does not help. They reappear next time, too.

How can I get pictures to stop posting the photos already imported? Or are these pictures this importing Photos cannot but is too shy to say it?

  • cannot import raw [Nikon D810] files to LR [4.4]

Suddenly, I can't import the raw files to LR; says it does not recognize the gross AID!

pictures taken with Nikon D810 (just once this camera, normally I shoot with D800).

    LR update is made.

    This works.

You can use Nikon Capture NX - d or View NX - i to make a similar file type conversion.

Using the converter Adobe's DNG is also an option.

  • How to save JPEG photos with their LR adjustments?

Hello Folks, please forgive this probably stupid question from a new user of Lightroom!

I recently imported some JPEG photos in LR, made several changes that have improved the images (well, I thought they did...) but then for the life of me I couldn't work out how to save the results.

Stored files just show the originals, but in LR, they appeared with all the settings. Tried to export, but with the same result. I don't know I am on what is obvious...

    Any help is appreciated.

Take a look at the of gotcha ten albums LR here

    Your question is number 1.

You do not have record in LR (LR, as it goes along). To see that your changes applied you export and create a new file. LR does not change your original file,

  • Lightroom does not matter the raw and jpeg photos of the same image, only the raw file.

I have a Canon 7 d and I can take at the same time gross (.cr) and jpeg images. When I import raw images only images seem to be imported. I unchecked the box "don't import suspected duplicates" but I only see the .cr version after importation in the grid. I use LT6 but this also happens in LT5. What should I do? Thank you.

    Hi BrendanRowlands,

Go to publishing in the top menu bar

    Click on preferences

    Go to the general tab

Check the option "JPEGs regal next to raw as separate photos files.

    Restart Lightroom

    Repeat the import process

    It will be useful.
