Impossible to change display settings in Windows 7

Greetings,

In some of our base of Windows 7 images, we find that we cannot allow users to change their display settings. We tried adding the agent view GPO and setting by allowing users to change their display settings but for some reason any that should not touch. Is this something that escapes me in this? What needs to be done for a user to change their settings to display in a view desktop? Thanks in advance.

You have the settings tab at your disposal?   If this isn't the case, you can take a look at the KB below.

My Windows 7 PC is part of a workgroup, not domain, but still I can't change some settings for Windows Update. I have the menu drop-down gray and set to download updates but let me choose whether to install them. I checked gpedit.msc > user configuration > administrative templates > windows components > windows update. All 3 setting there are not configured and irrelevant. How can I activate this setting?

Please note that I have no problem receiving updates, but I just want to be able to change the settings, and also I don't have answers about the probability of my system compromised by any means.

  • Photoshop CC continues to change my display settings of windows folder

Whenever I have save a PS file in a specific folder on my desktop, the display settings for this folder is reset to the default values.

For example, I like the vision on 'details' and sort in descending by "date modified" order (no 'date', which means that I have to uncheck the field 'date' and check the field "date modified" whenever that happens)

I opened and closed this file on my desk several times a day and the view remains the same, but as soon as I save a file out of PS and navigate to this folder from the backup dialog box, the display will return to "thumbnails" once again. which would be ok if it only showed that way while in the PS, but once that happens, it changes the view even when I open the folder on the desktop.

This does not happen with other programs, Psalm one, I use windows 7 pro 64-bit.

It is interesting to note that if I change the display inside registration settings dialog box, those changes do not appear when I open the desktop folder.

In addition, once I have make changes, PS will keep the settings for all subsequent save operations, even after the closing and reopening of the program. But once that I reboot I'm at square one.

Photoshop has no control over that. It's a BONE setting, and open/save are the OS (not really controlled by Photoshop) dialog boxes.

A few days earlier and starting to run Windows Update in order to set the computer up to be ready for the configuration of the software and customer communication, I found that although I am registered as an administrator, I was unable to run updates manually or change update settings.  Automatic update seems to work OK, however.

  • Impossible to change anything in the "window color and appearance".

    Hello.

Something happened to my computer a while ago, that made me unable to see or edit certain elements in windows.
    Please see image attached:
It seems that my DPI setting is too high so that the text and the content of a window does not.
These windows cannot be resized or scrolled so I'm in a dead end.
I tried to change the DPI setting of 100-150%. Does nothing for me.
Does anyone have a solution that does not involve a complete reinstall? What can I do with the registry to bring any default return?
    Thanks in advance! :)

  • Impossible to change the wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter.

original title: Windows 7 Starter wallpaper!

Seriously one you can't change the wallpaper on Windows 7 starter. Of course, that I understand that this version of Windows is expected to be very light on has to run smoothly on netbooks... but F---ing screen? Microsoft remembers that they always write operating systems right? My dinosaur, Nokia cell phone from 5 years ago allow you to change the wallpapers.  They left the gadget feature but no background screen! This really proves to me that Microsoft has absolutely no idea of what they do.  Windows 7 comes on just about all netbook now from this current holiday season.  So here's my question... Why would anyone want a netbook windows 7 when XP (earlier than prior windows operating system 7) had more features it does? Apple is looking for better and better. I don't even have a netbook for Christmas, and even though I really wanted one, I'm very happy that I don't have. I'm not going to get one at all now if its windows 7 on it.  I'll wait for the Apple tablet, and that's all.  What do you mean Microsoft?

    Hello socratesman,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

In Windows 7 Starter, you are not allowed to change the wallpaper. You can't even replace the image by default by another because the system compares the hash of file of your background desired with the hash of the file of the default wallpaper.

You need to upgrade to a more full version of Windows 7:

  • Impossible to change the settings for virtual memory by using Fusion 5 on MacBook Air

I use VMWare Fusion 5.0.3 and I'm trying to start a picture.  The image complains that I need to reduce the virtual memory settings.  I go to settings: processors and memory and reduce from 4 GB to 2.5 GB image. There is no button Save, so I click on the red X.  I tried this several times using several ways to access the settings and that you can save them using any combination.  I started a VMWare image which has 2 GB configured 'work' and was unable to change these settings as well.  My MacBook Air has 4 GB of physical RAM.

Okay - problem solved, but do not really exactly know how; but Dariusd started me in the right direction. I was at VMWare 4.1.x last week and recently updated to v5.0.3. I don't remember having these problems before. When I launched my VMWare image running in v4.1.x around v5.0.3, initially asked me if I wanted to move the VM and I said no.  I restarted the VM today (after having deleted all files and not pumped up the images once again) and responded yes, this time to upgrade. However, just after I tried to upgrade the virtual machine I got the error message "not enough of memory" again. So I then when in the parameters, as Dariusd suggested and changed the number of processor to 1 and changed the value of memory: However, it did not work. BUT, I did it again, changed the number of processors to 4 and then lowered the memory to 1024 as VMWare has suggested. IT WORKED! So I don't know if it was the attempt to upgrade the size of memory VM (which I doubt) or change to 4 processors as well as the update of the memory. Be it, I'm in place and thank you!

My benq joybook liteU107 is in Chinese circles, but I did not under.tand the settings and I can not read it as well.so I wanted to know if how can I use my windows7 to English settigs?

    Hello

    • Operating system is installed in the Chinese language?

If Yes, then you need to reinstall the operating system with the new option of language.

First of all, you need to install the English language to set display language. Once you download and install the language, you can apply the setting on the computer.

Step 1: Install the Language Pack

Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise.

  • Change display language in Windows 8 CPP from Chinese into English

I bought a Lenovo Yoga13 China Amazon. If the inscription says that it is just Windows 8, he did PRC 8 Windows. I knew it will come Chinese, so I read a little on the conversion of language who assured me that it was something simple by using Control Panel. And so I bought Yoga. I learn that the RPC Windows 8 is an exception the hard way. Normal language, process of change does not work as drive option is not available for English. Any idea what my options are? I just want to try to change it before I return it.

    Kind regards

    Thank you, Mary Therese K.

I saw all the links. The conclusion I came up with is that Windows 8 Chinese (the Chinese Windows 8 core) is deliberately limited to the Chinese. I think that, given the issues of piracy, it makes sense for the Member States.

So I just bought the Win8 Pro and installed/updated. I was then able to change the display language to English.

After all this, I fell on a an article that mentions the Chinese version of Win8 is the "SPECIAL" version Which explains the problem to meet.

    Kind regards

  • Windows 8 won't let me change the settings of Windows updates

Hi, I'm changing my Windows Update settings from Automatic to Manual, but the option is not available in the Windows Update screen. I use my Live admin account not to claim, I also have a local administrator account and the same thing is happening: Windows Update settings cannot be changed. Attached photo...

Intended to clarify, I'm not in any network, it is an Stand-alone Windows 8 processor ASUS TX300CA laptop and basically, I try to avoid the nagging Windows 8.1 update pop-up. There are programs that I use and which do not work well, or simply do not work on Windows 8.1 if I ever go back to Windows 8.

Thanks in advance for your support

First of all, you need to remove all that you have done to try to block the 8.1 update.  That is why it is said that your settings are "managed by an administrator", because the administrator (probably you) put in changes in your registry or policy settings to cause this.

Or if you don't, then a virus did.  Because someone, or something, went in and changed your policy and registry settings.

So if you don't, I recommend that you run system restore to undo the change unintentional, then run a full scan.

  • How to change the settings of Windows 8 trackpad

I have an Asus S400C with Windows 8 is installed and pain with my trackpad.

I'm used to be able to scroll with two fingers on the trackpad, but this function seems to have completely abandoned.

When I got my phone a few months ago, that this would work sporadically, but now nothing. I tried to hunt around in settings, etc. to see if it needs to be enabled/disabled, however I can not even find the trackpad settings! I searched touchpad/trackpad etc. and looked through the settings of the mouse, but none seem to control the current laptop keyboard. Instead, it maintains direct me to the tactile features on the current screen.

I'm so use to scroll with one finger on my screen while using the mouse trackpad for other features...

I tried to have some Google around for this online but everyone seems to have slightly different questions and no not to Asus - some answers have to give on the brand of computer - but wouldn't it be bound to the windows software and where touchpad info are stored?

If anyone knows how to change the functions of the trackpad, or at least where to find who would be most appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hello

There are several different manufacturers of the Trackpads. The computer manufacturer decides what trackpad to install based on compatibility with other hardware and software on the system.

The computer manufacturer will include a utility for the trackpad, which is designed for this particular model options. It is usually a utility that adds a Trackpad tab in the Control Panel/mouse component, or it may be a separate control panel item.

You must contact the Asus support for a solution.

    Hi Trevor,

This problem can occur if a certain group policy blocks access to Windows updates.

You can follow these steps and check if it helps.

    a. press the Windows key + R, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER.

    b. navigate to Setup Computer > administrative templates > Windows components > Windows Update.  Ensure that the States of all parameters are "not configured".

    c. make a change here,

Open the node "Configuration of the automatic updates service"
    Select "enabled."
Under Automatic Configuration update, select 5 - "Local Admin allow to choose the settings.
Under scheduled install, select any value.

    d. still once, go to Computer Configuration > administrative templates > system > Internet Communication Management-> Internet Communication settings. Make sure that the State of "Turn off access to all Windows Update features" is "not configured".

Let us know if it helps. If the problem persists, we would be happy to help you further.
