Impossible to create recovery USB Drive After Win 8.1 pass on Lenovo Twist

After the upgrade to Win 8.1 and try to create the recovery usb disk, I get this error:

"We cannot create a disc of reccovery on this PC. Some required files are missing. To trouble shoot startup of your PC problems, use your installation window or media disc»

Can some give me a clue as to how to solve this problem? THX.

I contacted Lenovo who sent me a series of 4 recovery disks. These drives solved the problem, but it meant wiping the hard drive and reinstall the same thing from scratch. A new recovery partition is created and the disc reinstalled Win 8, which was to be updated. So to win 8.1 can be installed. Now, everything works as it should.

I used my x 220 laptop for a year now and I am trying to port my OS on to a new drive mSATA I recently installed, but cannot create recovery disks to do this. I use rescue and recovery 4.5 for windows 7, but I don't see any option to create recovery/usb disks. I see only options to create a backup of my regular HARD drive and "create recovery media", which only seems to copy the service program of rescue and recovery, thinkvantage on the USB. I know that data that are installed on the USB key is not correct because it is about 500 MB, while I've read online that the complete recovery disk should take about 8.4 GB. I also know that I never created before recovery disks. Y at - it something that I'm missing is not let me create these disks?

is there an easier way to do this?

It's been a while since I've done it, but it worked in all situations where I tried: call Lenovo support and declare that you are unable to create recovery discs. There are several legitimate reasons to do this, for example from my experience...

    1. my X61s did not come with a DVD player and I don't have a DVD USB drive connected.

    2. my T60p reported all kinds of program errors when I tried to use the utility provided to create diskettes.

    3. an another ThinkPad (don't remember the model number) had a HD crash under warranty. Lenovo sent me a replacement HD but I had no recovery discs. (I had backups Acronis full score but Lenovo didn't and I didn't volunteer).

    4. one of my friends refused the license agreement for Windows on its ThinkPad. Instead, he decided to try Linux. After a few weeks of frustration with Linux, he decided to return to the Windows fold. Since he had not accepted the license to the first start agreement, it had been unable to create recovery discs.

If your system is under warranty in my experience that Lenovo will send you a set of toll-free recovery disks. You may need to be a little persistent, but as long as you keep it clean, you should get them. Note however the last time I did that was at least 3 years ago so their policy may have changed. Also note that, in any case, my request is legitimate. YMMV.

  • NB100-125 - I can copy recovery USB drive?

    Hello world!

First of all, sorry for my bad English.

I have a Toshiba NB100-125 that came with installed perfect Windows XP Home Edition. All good, but I decided to install Windows 7 on it.
OK, he ran on this subject, but I think it was a little heavier than XP, so I decided to go back to XP...

    And here's the interesting part:
I've not yet seen an external CD/DVD, so I won t be able to do with the recovery disk.
I tried to copy the files from the recovery on a USB flash drive disk, but it didn t started from it :(
Tried about 10 different methods and nothing worked, didn t want to boot from the flash...

Please help me, I can t find an external CD/DVD and I want to reinstall XP using the original recovery disk that came with it

    :(

    Hello

In my opinion, this will not work.
Of course, you can boot from a USB key, but I think that you can not copy the simple of a disc of Windows XP on USB flash drive and then boot from it

    But you can do this:
You can create a USB bootable using BartPE or WinPE flash drive.
Then you could start the NB100 using the USB flash drive.
Then copy file i386 disk Win XP on the HARD drive.
Finally, navigate to the i386 folder and start the installation of Windows XP by using the winnt.exe command

  • Creating recovery USB disk

I'm doing the recovery usb disk and it will not be exceeded the stadium to choose between creating DVD or usb drive.  I use a new usb key.

    Hello

It may be down to the type of flash player, you have.

If the flash drive is listed as "Windows compatible 8" may not be used - the reason is that the creation of HP recovery media software is seeking a device marked Win 8 compatible show as internal drives flash drives and external .

In the example below, the 32 Gb flash drive USB 'Dave G' shows as a drive hard internal who can not be used, while the USB flash drive "Removable disc H" would work.

  • Dell Backup and Recovery USB drive

Recently, I bought an XPS 8700 and running Windows 7 Pro with service pack 1.  I was going on the creation of a backup/recovery disk only to discover, you can't actually create disc and it must be done via a USB flash drive, or in my case, an external hard drive.  I don't care to have my partitioned external HD when I thought I was going on the creation of the recover 'floppy '.  Is it possible to redo on a USB flash drive now?

    Thanks in advance!

There are several partitions on the hard drive of a laptop including the system partition, the system reserved partition, partitions of data and for some manufacturers like Lenovo, they even create a partition of OneKey recovery on their products. To save partitions much one is really annoying. In this case, you can just do a backup image for all of the hard disc instead of backup of all of the partitions on this disk.see more

  • NB300 - error creating recovery USB stick

    Hello

I just bought a NB300 and have now tried twice to make the Recovery Media Creator with a 8 GB USB and it totally destroyed two sticks of memory new!

I followed the instructions, it gets to the bit on formatting the memory stick then comes up with an error with the creator of media software and then close the program.

Memory sticks are then useless and won't reformat.

Everyone knows this problem or have any ideas?

    Hi pedrochellie,

I doubt that the recovery media creator has destroyed your new USB
You find the USB key in Windows disk management? If Yes, delete the current partition to this topic and create a new.

In addition, you should test another brand of USB. Maybe they are incompatible I have good experiences with the Transcend USB keys.

If you have an external RATING, try to create a disc.

  • Pavilion 15 laptop: Recovery USB drive: size adequate, can it be calculated from used space

    Hello

I have a workbook (new), and the system has just updated to W10 threshold release 2. I had the laptop with a 1 TB drive. Is there a report/calculation of compression that can tell me if I have so much disk space used = size of the flash drive to buy?

I want to buy a decent flash player, there is a quite a price difference between 16/32/64 GB.

    Thank you

When you start the HP Recovery Media Creator, he will tell you what storage capacity must have the USB flash drive.

It will be a requirement of storage 16 GB or 32.

  • Failed to format create recovery media

I am trying to create a recovery media for new R30 - 1GZ and opted for USB Flash memory. Inserted a 16 GB Sandisk Cruzer module and said OK for reformatting. Message appears: "Unable to format the drive Windows" (or words to that effect). The module is now unusable.

Once the module is reinserted, message "need to format the disk in drive I have." In addition, "I:\ is not accessible... How does not contain a recognized file system... ». Failure to put in shape while as before. M/c still able to read and write ordinary data to other flash modules.
SanDisk Forum is littered with users having similar problems - some argue that the lack of equipment, other Windows 7 problem. No definitive answers.

Tried another module, different brand (I think) - now I have 2 modules unusable!
Helpline called Toshiba - never heard of the problem. "Maybe the software module 'create' is corrupt - try to rebuild the system from scratch" (not plausible, I think). Or take back the machine to the PC world...

Anyone out there who has met (and solved) the Please this problem?

To be honest, I never heard talk about this. Last month I ve bought Toshiba NB550D for my daughter and I ve created recovery USB stick using 8 GB SanDisk Cruzer with no problems.

USB key has been recognized by Windows starter, by creator Toshiba Recovery tool and everything worked perfectly.
In my opinion, your problem is not typical problem of Toshiba and I recommend you to check if the same thing will happen in using another USB.

    Please post comments.
