Impossible to define as 'Primary monitor' laptop screen

I'm having a problem with a configuration dual monitor that does not allow me to change my laptop to the main screen and the external monitor as the secondary. Currently, my Samsung 245BW is automatically set on the screen by default whenever I connect it to my Toshiba Satellite via a VGA cable. When I go to the menu "Display settings", there "This is my main monitor" the box grayed out for the laptop screen... My in my laptop graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470, if it matters. Thanks for any help.

Scott

All my drivers are up to date but I managed to do work the other day. I closed my laptop for a few minutes and when I went to open again as if by magic screens changed. Now my laptop screen is the default value. :)

  • HP G42-415DX: in a Setup dual monitor, perhaps armored secondary monitor white screen?

I have a Setup dual monitor, where the laptop is tied to a 2nd monitor (TV) via HDMI. I mainly use the 2nd monitor. Can I empty the 1st monitor (laptop screen) screen, yet still use the 2nd monitor with lid open to access the keyboard?

(I noticed with parameters changed in the Panel of Win7, I can close the lid without cutting [sleep, Hibernate or shutdown] computer and had to lower the monitor display 2nd to adapt to the screen.) But to use the keyboard, open the lid of the portable computer, which involved the 1st screen)

    Thank you

    Hi Kalad,

I think the same as you do sometimes, especially when I watch a movie and you want that it will display on the bigger screen and the simultaneouly have the laptop screen is off.

As you need to use the keyboard of the laptop and want the second poster only, which suggests to select the "Projector" only option in the pop-up menu by pressing the Fn + F4 key.

& to come back again having two screens or single screen press Fn Key & F4 on your keyboard and select "Extend" or 'Unplug the projector' options respectively.

  • Monitors of switching with a laptop screen

Ok. I have a HP Compaq Presario V5000 running on Windows XP and the screen is broken. When I turn the backlight turns on but that's all. I don't know if it has to do with the inverter or whatever, but is it possible to change my default display to an external monitor without the screen of my laptop?

    Hi Yo-Yo123,

It is not possible that the laptop screen is broken. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the system for more support options.

As the laptop does not start, try to run by using the last known good configuration to restore it to its last working state.
see How to start your computer by using the last good known Configuration .
    b. check to see if you are able to start the computer.

Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee the party a 3rd screen saver feature.  If you would please test it with one of the included native screensaver in Windows, I would be very happy.

  • Touching laptop screen affects the connected monitor. I don't want that

I have a monitor connected to my x230T do an extended desktop.  When I type on my laptop screen, it does not 'click' on this place, he clicks on a task on the monitor.  For example, if I tap the Start button on my laptop screen, the start menu does not open upward - instead, the left side of the bottom of the screen is clicked on.

I want to touch on my laptop screen.  How can I fix it?

You can setup the configuration under Systemmanagement-> Tablet-PC-configuration?

There, you can choose which screen is the screen stylus and touchscreen.

My laptop (Dell Inspiron only 3 months old) is displayed on an external monitor, but not on the laptop screen. I am running Windows 7. It was running and display very well last night. When I turned on this morning the monitor lit up but show just a gray-white screen and no office. When I attached an external monitor, I could see desktop and all other programs and Windows 7 routines seem to work very well.

Press the Windows logo key and the p key, and then set up the PC to display on the built-in monitor only cycle through with the arrow key.  You can make this Store if you want - key Windows-p, right arrow once, paused for a few seconds & the laptop monitor should then appear normally.

You can do so at the end of each session using the external display while you are ready for the use of the laptop on its own later.

  • White screen after you disable the primary monitor and secondary on Satellite

    Hello

I tried to connect a LCD screen on my laptop, in the first place, I went to the Panneau--affichage--controle--avancees--controler--proprietes--device use settings: disable!

This allowed secondary LCD screen but the most stupid thing, it is that when I wanted to return to the screen of my laptop that I followed the same procedure with the LCD.

The result is that now the two are empty. Laptop screen turns white as soon as starts to load windows. Combination Fn + F5 didn't help. I also tried to get into windows in safe mode, but it has not been possible.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    PLEASE, I BEG YOU.

    Thank you

During startup in safe mode, the laptop charge only a current drivers and it should be able to see something on the screen.
But if it is not possible and you are not able to deliver internal display on the screen, then I guess you need to start form the recovery CD and reinstall the OS :(

The new facility is scheduled to replace all the display settings and the laptop should work.

    Hello

You want to display on both monitors to be same?

When you drag and drop an element from one monitor to the other, it will not be placed at the same position as the first monitor. If the element should be placed at the same position as in the other monitor, you will have to do it manually by dragging it to the location.

  • When I connect the HDTV office moves to the laptop screen HDMI TV.

Original title: taskbar with HDMI output

When I plug my TV in my HDMI output on my laptop, task bar of the window (with the start menu and open programs) always defaults to the TV screen instead of stay on the laptop screen.  Someone knows how can I change the default location for the task bar so that it stays on the screen of the laptop?  Thank you!!

    Hello

The HDMI TV is defined as the main display on your computer monitor. To change the same to your laptop.
    Here's how:
    a. right-click on an empty space on the desktop and click on the screen resolution.
    b. at the top, you will see the current main screen with the Start Menu in the lower left.
NOTE: If you are unsure which monitor who is, then click on the button to display the number on the screen to match with identity.
    c. at the top, click on the numbered display device (ex: monitor, projector or TV HDMI) you want to make your primary display to have its established border highlight.
    d. check the brand that my hand display and click OK to apply.
NOTE: You will notice that when you check this box, the Menu start now we in this numbered display.

    I hope this helps.
