Impossible to improve server OS 2003-2008 after virtualization VMware
We were unable to upgrade our Windows Server 2003 to 2008 after that that they have been virtualized. After what looks like a successful upgrade it just gets stuck on the screen of Microsoft corporation. No problem if the server was compiled in VMware. We use the same installation for virtual and physical server files.

Windows 2003/2008 server Enterprise Edition 32-bit RAM OS compatibility issue.
We just bought 2 servers architecture 64-bit with 16 GB RAM on each server blades. seller want to install windows server 2003/2008 Enterprise Edition 32 bit OS on these because of the compatibility of the applications server computers. I heard that windows 2003 32-bit server supported only 4 GB of RAM. So, in this scenario, another 12 GB of RAM will be unusable or full 16 GB of RAM will rely on this machine so install us windows 2003/2008 server enterprise R2 32 OSi. Also say us no other solution.

original title: SQL Server 2008
We have SQL Server 2005 cluster (3 node cluster) and if we improve this nodes to 2008 R2, can the databases associated with the named instance remain to the version of SQL Server 2005, I seem to disagree with this notion, but still need to validation of the pro.
One way I can think of to achieve this scenario changes the compatibility level to SQL Server 2005 when the node has been upgraded to SQL Server 2008, so we can upgrade databases to SQL 2008 as and when the vendors provide support for this version.

Can I use VMWare server 2 operational execution Server 2003 / 2008 VM?
Can I use VMWare server 2 to run an operational Server 2003 / 2008 and an another SBS 2003 / 2008 VM? This way I want to run a SBS 2008 Server with a separate server for SQL 2005 and CRM 4.0.
Or should I buy then sphere or VMWare Workstation? I would like to work on a computer with XP pro SP2 64-bit, but if this is not possible I could install a 64 bit OS on this server.
Should I'm way real physical internet access of a virtual machine in VMWare server 2?
WinServ 2003 and 2008 running great on VMware Server 2, which is free. They'll run even faster on ESXi, which is also free, but has no local console (it takes a second machine see the console & vms).
I have an opterons 2xquad @ 2.7 Ghz, 16 GB of RAM and 4 TB of disk space and I can run 4-5 virtual machines without flinch... but my vmware-server works on Ubuntu. I believe that Linux running on the underlying area will give a MUCH better than Windows.

SQL server web edition 2008 r2 SPLA replace with property
Hello
I currently run a web application with my hosting provider on a dedicated server, I have with them.It has an instance of SQL Server Web Edition 2008 R2 installed. They apparently have a contract SPLA from Microsoft. And so I have them pay a monthly subscription to use SQL Server to my ASP.Net applications.I am however able to afford buying a SQL Server Web Edition 2008 R2 license. So no longer need to pay the monthly fee they charge me.The problem is, I have a significant amount of custom jobs & configuration already set on this instance of SQL Server. And my host tells me they need to uninstall the instance, and then I have to install my own instance. As you know very well, a hosting site is a 24/7 operation and the uninstall process, installation and re-configuration has a severe impact on the web application that I offer my clients. If I understand well the problems of licenses etc I get the requirement. However, I think that it is - to be frank - stupid. All I want is to have the current instance left intact and everyone wins. My host does not have to uninstall the instance, Microsoft gets it's money and my clients using my web application may exercise by using the web site as if nothing ever happened.I would really appreciate help regarding this.Kind regardsMichael CarrollMichael

PC XP very slow opening files on network 2003-2008 since 7 days ago
Since Wednesday last (06/29/11) all the xp pro pc on our network takes forever to download files. the network has 4 servers 2003 r2 and 2008 r2. You can navigate without problems, but when you download for example a 300 KB word doc it will take 5-10 minutes.
On a windows pc 7, it is as fast as its always been.
Nothing has changed the wise configuration, but servers are installed to automatically download patches and it seems to have happened Tuesday / Wednesday last week.
Sure that's not SMB2 Preety causing the problem, maybe a patch for the network protocol?
any help much appreciated

In SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 UltraLiteJ synchronization
Hi all
Does anyone know how to synchronize to SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 UltraLiteJ?
I tried this, but there is an error showed.
Detected a version unknown or damaged configuration of the MobiLink system under owner 'dbo '.
I had created a DSN. But when I created the synchronization model, it failed, I could shoot.
When I run the MS-DOS command prompt Mobilink server, an error has occurred again,
[- 10002] "Consolidated database server or ODBC error: ODBC: [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server driver] [SQL Server] Login failed for user (null)".
Reason: Not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved. (State = 28000 ODBC, Native error code is 18452)Could someone help me with the setting and the code maybe?
Hi Hari,
You can ignore the warning 'version' unknown or damaged The synchronization model compares its own set of system tables against what you have in SQL Server and responds with this warning if it detects a difference. The comparison is strict, and it may signal a difference for reasons such as unusual places or different ODBC drivers. The message should have been accompanied by a detailed description, which would explain what he saw different.
Looks like your MobiLink server starts correctly and connects to the database. If it does not start successfully, you should see a message "Server MobiLink has begun" in the server window, and you should not see any entries in the window of the server starting with 'E'.
So if you have deployed your synchronization model, and the server is started, the next question is why your synchronization failed. It would be useful to retrieve the codes of error on the device, software versions and the MobiLink log entries using a comprehensive framework as - v + on the MobiLink command line. I would suggest that we are pursuing in the Sybase for MobiLink newsgroup, where you will find a number of people who are more expert that I am to all aspects of MobiLink.
You can access newsgroups via the web or by using a News Reader. The starting point for the two is http://www.sybase.com/support/community-forums and the newsgroup you need is sybase.public.sqlanywhere.mobilink (http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1009240 ).
I think this would be your best way to go for that matter.
