  Thanks for your reply.  It turns out that I needed to download the Officejet 6500 Wireless on my PC software to operate.  I couldn't use the software that was already loaded laptop from my husband, who works in Windows 7.  If I had the software on my desktop computer, your instructions likely would have worked.  I appreciated you taking the time to answer.

• Installing the L7680 driver will not work with Windows 8.1

  I recently bought a new HP Pavilion laptop and updated to 8.1 windows not long after the purchase.  I tried to install my Officejet Pro L7680 all-in-one today and not failed on each attempt.  The driver/software will download but when I try to install the software I get a message of "specified file not found."  I called HP and spoke to a representative who informed me that my printer was too old and that it was not compatible with Windows 8.1 System.  He said there was no update available for my printer and basically I have to buy a new printer.  Wrong answer!

  The issue is a file missing in the folder drivers to preload: Msiexec.exe

  Yes the anitivirus software could ask questions.

  I'll make sure that it is turned off during installation.

  He worked thereafter. Troubleshooting extensions and themes had instructions titled for XP. The path to the menu for Firefox is a little different for 10.1 rel. It could be updated to the new version.

  Options, Options, advanced, general tab, disable hardware acceleration.

  It finally worked. If there was a fake "Firefox unresponsive message." I was (not) moving pretty fast so the "not responding" message went away and things started working.

  I am very happy because I had loaded Chrome in the meantime and Chrome is NOT Firefox. And I'm positively allergic to IE.

  I am trying to install an old CD ROM National Geographic on my Windows 8 operating system.  Is this possible or am I barking the wrong tree.  Records say Windows 98/95, between other things necessary to be able to install.  Is it possible to install on my computer or am I out of luck?  I would not lose this set because it is intriguing and entertaining.  Help!

  You can try compatibility mode, but if it does not, your best option would be to install on a computer that is running a much older version of Windows such as Windows XP or an earlier version.

  Programs designed for earlier versions of Windows such as Windows 98/95 uses 16-bit installers and uninstall programs. This is not supported in 64 bit versions of Windows 8 in all. If you are running a version of Windows 8 bit, 16 bit support is disabled by default, so you need to activate that before trying.

  I managed to install Windows 2008 server but unable to t the wireless or ethernet to work.  I tried to use the driver 64 bit Windows 7 without success.

  I think return Costco if I can't get the network driver that will work with Windows 2008 Server R2

  The driver works for Windows 2008 Server R2.  I just need to find the drivers for the wireless card.

  My laptop don't would detect not the monitor when I plugged this morning, so I opened the screen resolution and tried to add the monitor after the docking station software updated and now I have three monitors in the resolution of the screen. I can't delete the additional and sometimes applications open in the display "(screen shot of screen resolutions)" and I can't see them. I tried to remove the displays control panel, restart and also through to advanced settings in the display properties and still impossible to remove the extra screen.

  Thanks for the update unfortunately I do not have access to change my user account, as it is an asset of the company. I was able to select the additional screen, then select from several screens: unplug this view.
  That solved the problem of some applications of opening in the screen that did not exist.

  I'm trying to set up an external monitor to Asus to mirror my iMac 27 "new using a HDMI > Lightening connection, but using the monitor preferences, requires both screens at the same resolution. The Asus monitor is smaller, I'm looking for mirror to a proper resolution to the screen (that I can actually read!). From what I gleaned on the web until now, so it should be easy - and now I think it has to do with the HDMI connection on the monitor. Any advice would be much appreciated!
