  Hmm, I think that's not possible because of the audio chip Conexant.
  As far as I know it supports stereo-in.
  I have a u400 with Conexant audio chip too and I can't record music using tool no. 23.
  But my other laptop A210 is favorable because it s equipped with the Realtek sound card.

  By the way; to be 100% sure that this is not available, you can check the Panel of-> sound-> the Read tab. Here, you must right click and should mark the option; view hidden devices, see the disabled devices.

  I recommend checking out the settings first.
  In Control Panel-> sound, you should check the volume of the microphone.
  The volume must be set to the highest level.

  In Control Panel, you should also find the Audio from Realtek Manager. There you can change some options too.
  On the right side (right column), you'll find options called advanced settings. Here you can change the settings for the headphone and microphone Sockets.

  By the way; don't forget that your external microphone to which you connect to the laptop is ok

  It has been possible to record audio streams on the net with Audacity.
  After an upgrade to Windows 7 and updates for the drivers it is no longer possible. The sound has disappeared. Of course, I can always save the stream off the card, but only at a very very poor quality.

  It is a problem of Toshiba and sound card. I can still save on my other computer with another sound card. As I need to register to work, it is a serious problem for me, and there should be warnings when customers update.

  Is there a way to get around this? Are there patches?

  Before you start a lengthy discussion, can you please put the number of exact model of your laptop?

  If you have this problem only with the new sound driver you should go back to the previous version of the driver ;)

  To save as you describe computer must have the ability of full-duplex sound and it

There's a hum in the background and it has always been like that. For my work, I have to use the line. Also, I need to use other sources of input in addition to just my mic, so I need the mixing table, and of course, this requires line in.

  If I've understood your problem, try this. Create a shortcut to "soundrecorder /file outputfilename.wav" (without the quotes).

  Then start soundrecorder via this shortcut and start and stop the recording, it will save so (hopefully) as a wav as before.

  I think the problem is, W7 soundrecorder, by default, saves to wma.

  If not, try a 3rd free part program such as Audacity (which seems like overkill, but should do the job).

  I followed the procedure in the Audacity forum:

  • Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

  1. Right-click on the icon "by the system clock" speaker, and choose recording devices to open the recording of "Sound" tab

  A web page can be defined a "accesskey" for an item. Unlike IE/Chrome/Safari, who use the Alt key only, Firefox requires pressing Alt and Shift to activate the element. In other words, try

  ALT + SHIFT + S

  and see if it works.

  I don't know of any way to change this so that the change is not necessary. There may be an add-on?

  Something is hijacking your system.

  Run your anti virus and anti malware.
  Download the latest audio drivers for your device from the site of the manufacturer. Do not install yet. Also download Ccleaner (Google it).
  Remove all references from your audio device (software and drvers).
  Re starting and running ccleaner, registry bit - but back up your registry first, and the value of a restore point, just in case.
  Re install your software and audio divers, re boot, everything should be ok.
