Impossible to uninstall Works 8.5 on an OEM installation

Original title: remove Works 8.5

How can I uninstall Works 8.5 when it was an OEM installation and I don't have the original disks?

Sorry for the delay.

If, you can't remove without inserting the disc of MS Works, I suggest that you are looking for a 3rd party software removal tool.
There are several you can find this should work for you. Most are free that you can download and use on Windows Vista.

I hope this helps.

  • Impossible to uninstall Works 8

My wife bought an Acer Aspire 5515 recondidtioned July 5.  It was delivered to us last Wednesday.  It came with no manuals nor the support of the software.  It has a hidden partition that contains the default recovery software.  The first thing I did was make two DVD backups.  I then started to uninstall all the programs, there is no need or want.  I've also updated various things like Vista itself to SP 2.  The last item I need to uninstall is works.  We don't need since we have a licensed copy of MS Office Home and Student 2007.  When I try to uninstall Works it it gives me the following error:
    ---
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network unavailable resource.
Click OK to try again or enter a different path to the folder containing the installation package ' WORKS8. MSI' in the box below. »

    [OK]
    [Cancel]

    Use the Source:
    c:\acersw\office\cd2\ [go]
    ---
I don't have the CD of works 8 nor have I not the acersw directory.  I tried searching the Works8.msi my computer file, but it was not the case on the computer.

I called Acer refurbished phone support.  They looked to the top of the Acer Aspire 5515 and there been no 8 works listed in the included software, while they were unable to give me the CD of 8 books.

Then I hit the forums and many positions said to download the file KB955428_en - US.cab.  I extracted to a temporary folder on my desk that makes this file in a .msp file.  I right click it and applied.  The forums said it would update Works 8, so that I can uninstall it.  However, the application has failed.  Yet once, he asked me to Works8.msi file.

I also read a post on the forum who told to look for another file and renames works8.msi.  Forgive me, but I can't find that post now, so I don't know the name of the file.  I did, however, find the location of this file and couldn't find it anywhere or drop to even rename.

A lot of people have said to use an uninstall program, but I would like to remove this the right way.  Is there a way to get the works8.msi file?  Or is there a better way?

    Thank you!

    -Stacy

  • Firefox tab disappeared, have mysearchdial. No program of mysearchdial in installed programs impossible to uninstall. no way to manage add-ons with or without tab firefox orange

Could not find a way to get rid of mysearchdial. no tab orange browser firefox so can't get to manage no Add ons and any program mysearchdial in the installed programs in Control Panel, so it is impossible to uninstall.

tried to change the home page but no matter what I do, mysearch dial remains there. went to mysearchdial web page, followed their instructions, no use. Tried to run malwarebytes anti-malware and it has not seen anything like that. my browser opens really slow. The Microsoft Security Essentials is not helping either. I tried booting from the ERD, start did not find any problem. the search on my computer for mysearchdial or something unknown shows nothing. ran put utilities at the point in the registry, found nothing.

What should I try next? Thank you very much.

    Hello

The easiest way is probably to make a Reset of Firefox. This will return Firefox to its default settings. Your personal data (bookmarks, history, etc.) will be saved, but you will have to reinstall all your addons.

Firefox - modules to reset and refresh settings

If you don't arrive in the Firefox Orange menu to do the reset and then close Firefox and then hold down the SHIFT key while you open it. This will bring up a menu that gives you the ability to reset Firefox.

The problem is that (as you've identified) there is a chance that Firefox will get hijacked again if you are unable to remove malware from your computer.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

I also suggest looking at the list of programs for starting and turning off one you don't want to or don't recognize. All that is originally from the diversion of mysearchdial is likely to be listed in the startup list, because he wants to run as soon as the computer starts.

I hope this helps. Let me know if not.

  • Impossible to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection after system restore

    Hello
a program has been uninstalled (Symantec Endpoint Protection)
After have rebooted and still have problems to install a newer version, I decided to do a system
Restore prematurely, I uninstalled the original version.
(Since I couldn't find the installation files or my license info)

The old version worked again.  Now I am able to start the
new version, the old version will not uninstall.

It just sits there in a small box with a bar saying Windows of progression
in the configuration of Symantec Endpoint Protection and it remains as it
for as long as I left, at least 25 minutes.

I thought that the system restore would put things back exactly as they
have been, but it's apparently not the case.

OT: Impossible to uninstall after system restore

    Any ideas on that?
The OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit 64-bit.
I found this, but have not yet tried.

I was able to cirumvent the problem by a selective startup in Msconfig.

I disabled all startup items, all services not MS, restarted and then uninstalled

successfully.  However, I met another strange problem.

After uninstalling old version, I rebooted (the system was still selective

startp) I put a new restore point and installed the new version successfully.

Later, realizing msconfig has been arrived at "selective", I went and

has tried to return to Normal startup.  However, when you select normal

and hit 'apply', it immediately jumps to selective.  I have never seen it before.

I didn't know how to solve.

Instead, I uninstalled the new version of the AV program, jumped to the restore point

I did before I installed, rebooted, open Msconfig and have been correctly set up

In normal mode.  Then reinstalled the AV.

    Everything is OK now.

You ever heard of this problem of msconfig before?

  • Impossible to uninstall older Versions of Adobe products

    Hey,.

I recently updated my Adobe Creative Cloud products to the latest versions (2015.5), however, all the old versions are still there (2015), or at least, that's what Windows tells me in the control panel. Tried to uninstall, but I keep to uninstall error. No error code in particular gave, said simply that it is impossible to uninstall. I ran CC Cleaner and it showed that the old files of 2015 was still there. I ran the vacuum, but the log file indicates that he failed to remove a majority of everything. I decided to rerun the times cleaner, and now it does not show that all files in 2015 are installed... but low and behold, Windows still shows that they are installed. Clicked on uninstall to see to it it erase just displayed, but Creative cloud appears with the error message that it is impossible to uninstall. Should I go in the folder Program files and delete the files of 2015? Just trying to save some additional gigs of hard drive space. If that doesn't work, then I won't bother to face it, I'm too busy. Thanks for reading!

Let me know if I need to view the log file. It's stupid to time, so I won't waste time everyone.

If your cc app shows that older applications are available for the installation, install to restore uninstall programs.

Now completely stuck between the use of the "AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe" who removed the CC app but cannot uninstall the rest of the programs (photoshop, illustrator, indesign) to reach the scene of the new facility.  What should I do next?  I'm not a novice, visited this rodeo a million times.

    What should I do?

I am DISGUSTED that I can't get Adobe on the phone or even in a chat session for this problem.  I pay $700 / year for this and I expect to WORK.

  • Impossible to uninstall program distributed CVI2010

What is the name of the author of DVD?
Have you tried going into Control Panel (Add/Remove programs for Windows XP) and programs and features for Windows Vista and Windows 7 and uninstall the DVD maker?

If you cannot remove programs uninstall, then it may be a virus or malicious software that you downloaded. If it was Microsoft, you have to go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads and locate the program you want to install.

If you don't have an antivirus, you can download Microsoft Security Essentials for free and see if it will remove the program. It protects against software viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

    Hi sarah,.

I suggest trying to remove the printing mode safe software:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

If this does not work, you can temporarily disable your security while in Mode safe mode software and try uninstalling again.

You must make sure that the print program is not running when you do this.

  • Impossible to uninstall registry mechanic

    Impossible to uninstall registry mechanic

    Impossible to uninstall registry mechanic

How have you tried to uninstall?

What is going on?  Please report any message (s) completely, without paraphrasing.

Did you use it to 'clean up' or 'fix' the registry?  If Yes, how long?  If this isn't the case, a long time ago, is there an "undo" function that allows you to get to the State of your computer before using Registry Mechanic?

If it has not been long since you've used Registry Mechanic, (b) you have not installed or uninstalled all other applications, and (c) you have not disabled the system restore, use system restore to go back to a point before you used Registry Mechanic.  I would not use SR to return more than a day or three.
