Impossible to update of Windows 8 to 8.1 Inspiron 5537

Hello-

I can't update of Windows 8 in article 8.1; the 8.1 update does not appear in the Windows store.

I downloaded all the updates for Windows 8 (including the KB2871389); I sync my licenses in store a, reset the contents of the Windows store (wsreset.exe), tried to go directly to ms-windows-store: WindowsUpgrade and of course restarted after all these changes.

I'm not under a Volume or Enterprise Windows 8 version. I'm running plain old Windows 8-64 bit.

What Miss me - please advise.

Now that you have the update of KB2871389, it's probably time to uninstall and reinstall. The following steps have worked for very few people when nothing else has worked. It is certainly worth a shot.

(1) uninstall KB2871389 and restart.

(2) download the update of Microsoft KB2871389--> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40098

(3) manually install the KB2871389 update and reboot.

(4) you must now (I hope) see the 8.1 update in the Windows store.

Apparently an involuntary change of administrative privileges or permissions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) keeps me updated Media Player version 9 to 11 v. and updated virus Security Essentials definitions.
For Media Player, wmsetup.log reports access denied error 80070005 and UpdSpAPI.log reports access denied for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding\LowRate registry key. In regedt32, I'm blocked from display HKLM\...\MediaPlayer\Settings and below, and "are allowed to view the current permission settings, but... can make a change." Except that I can't. I can enter the change but get «...» Access is denied"trying to apply them. So this is the first problem that I need help.
But of course it's more than a registry key and the subkeys, because MSE too is affected and will download but not install virus definitions. WindowsUpdate.log reports: failed to install with error 80070643.
My user account (it's the only one!) is part of the Administrators group and all that I tried to verify administrative permissions is positive. This is a new issue. No virus/malware, according to MSE, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, MalWarebytes Anti-Malware.

  • Impossible to update Microsoft Windows Vista SP2

I have a laptop that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 from Microsoft yet. I have not started the laptop for almost a year and I understand that the operating system is no longer supported. I'm just trying to get all the other updates carried forward after November 13, 2015. The update of Windows seems not to be able to get updates or is suspended. In the past when Windows XP support ended, I was still able to update the o/s to the last update available for the well type beyond a year after. I don't see why I can't still not updated for Windows Vista SP2.

I need constructive responses to solve the problem and not the usual, "my computer is old and needs to be upgraded or replaced", remarks. I don't have the funds to keep the upgrade for the latest and best. The laptop, I always work and if I have funds or if I know that it can smoothly run Windows 10, I could upgrade the o/s.

    Follow these steps: Install KB3078601, KB3109094, KB3145739, KB3164033, KB3168965 and KB3185911 manually. Download links:

  • Impossible to update my Windows RT

I currently have the RT for Windows, and it works remarkably well for me! But, I am having trouble updatingit to Windows 8.1. I can go to the store and click on install, but then it does not refresh, and I don't know why. Help, please...

    Hi Emma,

I would check the updates from the office in the first place, because there are several updates must be applied first, before the 8.1 update store works.  There are also a few updates that came out that the problems with the update that Microsoft has learned after the fact.

Here's how to check the updates.  I don't know if you have a keyboard with your Surface, so I'll try to cover all the means to do so:

    1. Open the desktop Panel

      • with a mouse: right-click the button start (bottom left) and choose Control Panel
      • with the keyboard: press X Windows to display the context menu, and then choose Control Panel
      • with a touchscreen: on your home screen, drag from the right and press the search button. Type 'control panel' and open it from the search results.
    2. Choose system and security, then under Windows Update, select "check for updates".
    3. Install all available updates.  Restart the computer, and then check the updates once more (because some updates require the previous first of all, while there could be more waiting).
    4. When all updates are made and either are in the audit, go back to the shop and try to get the 8.1 update again.

Check your updates and make sure you have this a KB2871389.   If she is not there, make sure that download you and check the store.  If the 8.1 update is not uninstall KB2871389 and check the store again. If the 8.1 update still shows no upward, re - install the KB2871389 and look at the store. When you open the Windows 8.1 upgrade store should be in a big tile just in front of you.

  • Impossible to update to Windows 8. 1 * and * uninstall KB2871389 fails. I'm stuck.

Like others, I suffer from problem when updating Windows 8.1 refuses because he thinks I don't have admin rights. It seems that a majority of these cases are fixed by uninstalling Microsoft Update KB2871389 and then re - install.

However, when I try to do it on my laptop, the uninstall process restarts the machine and restarted, continues the uninstall process until the progress reached 67%, after which I am treated for 'Default configuration Windows Updates' and 'change back '.

I've tried about 5 - 6 times. Always the same result. Trying to install just the downloaded KB2871389 Installer fails because the installer says that the update is already installed. So, at this point, I figure that I have 3 options:

    1. Somehow use magic of command line to force the update installer to install on the update is already there, or
    2. Understand what causes the uninstall fails (what newspapers I look? I'm looking for?)
    3. Uninstall the update by hand with a tool command line or in a kind of fashion without failure or something.

Latest version is not signing by TOSHIBA. So, how can I update my display adapter driver?
MW I use laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1 EC

    Hello

The display driver should be used from the Toshiba driver page.
This view is a driver that has been designed especially for the use of the laptop and it s certified by Toshiba.
If you want to use another driver, you do so at your own risk.

The update should not be really problematic. Download the driver package and store somewhere on the HARD drive.
Then go to Device Manager, choose graphics card, then update the driver.
Here, you choose the advanced option. Then choose the last option (called I want to select the driver, or something like that) and point to the driver files that you have stored on the HARD drive.
Complete the update and restart the laptop.

    That s it.
