Impossible to Vista Home Basic to Vista Home Premium. Don't want to do a clean install. How to get around this problem?

just bought an upgrade to Vista Home Premium with service pack 1.  I'm upgrading to Vista Home Basic.  The program tells me that the upgrade has been disabled and he wants to do me a clean install.  I really don't want to do a clean install.

If your installed Vista Home Basic has recently installed Service Pack 2 > uninstall Vista Service Pack 2 for him >

Do your upgrade to Home Premium Service Pack 1 > then redownload/reinstall Vista Service Pack 2 again.

And make sure your Vista installed and the upgrade of Vista are the versions both either 32-bit or 64-bit, depending on what is your Vista Basic.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > Info is if your Vista is 32-bit or 64-bit Vista.

    Hello

    1. what troubleshooting steps are carried out to solve the problem?

2 were there any hardware or software changes made on the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to return the item and check if it helps:

    Problems with installing updates

    Method 3:

I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state and then try to open the program and check if it helps.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

1 Quicken uninstall using the Windows Control Panel

    2. run qcleanui.exe and clean all versions.

    3. restart your PC

4 Quicken resettlement to a new distinct and NOT in the Program Files folder in the folder where your Quicken data resides and install as administrator (if on Vista).

5 update Quicken at the last updated R6.

See the response of Mike Hall, but also, note the following:

What virus do you have? How do you know if you're a? Reinstalling Windows due to a virus is almost never required and is usually exaggerated way. It is normally much easier and much less likely to cause you problems if you delete the virus with a good antivirus program.

  • I have Vista Home premium and you want to install Windows Defender, but however get the 08x800106ba error message.

I have Vista Home Premium sp2 and you want to install Windows Defender, but however Gets the 08x800106ba error message.

Where should I go from here

    Hello

You cannot install Defender in Vista; It is already part of the Vista operating system.

    Read about Defender:

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-security/how-do-i-manually-start-Windows-Defender-in-Vista/dab845b2-9ba5-47F3-9518-c4c6781e7d5b

"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.

Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.

Once modified, click apply and OK.

Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"

    .

If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:

Or the program Autoruns for FREE:

The download link you are trying to access has expired. For further assistance, please contact customer arvato

Where can I get? Or do I need to buy it again, even if I already have?

    Hello

There is no available free and legal Vista download

See how you can use this information:

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    ____________________________________________________________

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

    __________________________________________________________

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • The upgrade of my hardware invalidate my installation of Windows Vista? How can I solve this problem?

I recently started to get the message "this copy of Windows is not genuine", which is a little disconcerting for me. I have recently (April 20, to be exact) installed Service Pack 2 and I also recently installed new hardware, but everything worked without problem until today. Let me include some details on my system, and also what items of equipment have been replaced:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
Recently replaced hardware: motherboard, RAM, processor, power supply, chassis

As stated, things were aired as easily as they always until today, when I noticed that my office is transformed to a solid black color instead of the wallpaper I had already. Then I noticed an icon in the system tray indicating that I could click it to activate my copy of Windows; When you click on it, I gives me the message "the product key of Windows Vista Edition Family Premium you typed is invalid for activation."  I've been running this copy of Windows for four and a half, and it has been installed on the PC that I bought directly from Dell, so I know that it is a legitimate copy. As my Dell OEM chassis has been replaced by a generic box (the new motherboard did fit properly into the exclusive Dell chassis), I do not have the sticker with the information of Windows, so I can't post it. I'll post the MGA information below; any additional necessary information is available, but I don't know what else could be required to post.

Information copied to my Clipboard of the MGA diagnosis tool are the following:

Well, it's a disappointment. If this is the case, it would be possible to purchase a license upgrade to Windows 7, or should I get a full version? I prefer to get the version if possible upgrade from $80 it's cheaper. Cancellation of my driver's license means that it is no longer an option?

"I suggest you buy a Windows 7 license, that Vista is no longer sold."

As I recommended you it to my 1st answer you need to buy a Windows 7 license.

And the reason is that you now don't have a Windows license to upgrade qualification, as your Vista license is void for the reasons I have already explained to you in my previous to this topic answers...

And before you buy a license of Windows 7, follow these steps to check if your hardware and software is Compatible Windows 7.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    "Windows 7 system requirements"

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:
