BEWARE, the recommendation is only if you want to use JPEG and never need to the NAVE, nothing to do with the exception are taking place on your hard drive.

  Windows Explorer cannot display thumbnails for raw files, unless you have some kind of third-party codecs.

  Windows Live Gallery can display the jpeg thumbnail embedded in the raw file, but don't do not convert and display the content of the raw file.

  What happens if you download files directly from your card reader or camera on the downloader withou with ViewNX elements?
