  A program is defined as default does not mean that it has considered all of the default roles available.  In the case of Outlook 2007, there are 13 total default values that can be assigned, and it should have each of them.  It is possible to default Outlook for e-mail, but not the default value for write links in web pages.

  Hello Karena R, yesterday, I downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail, and I must say that I prefer Windows Mail Live Mail program. After making sure that Live Mail is the deafult for all messaging functions and that the entry "Mail Protocol" was now back to the list of saved files, I checked the problem mentioned in my original post. He is not fixed! Another small problem is fixed now if. In my "drafts" mailbox I have some e-mails stored there and when I click on one of them upwards now comes an email with the appropriate address inserted in the address line. Who could not before.   When I access the microsoft update web site, I get a message saying that I need to update windows update and I want that allows. No matter what I said or after 30 seconds have elapsed if I do nohting I get the message:

  The address is different from one attempt to another, but both are still the same as eachother.

  I tried to download and install the latest windows update manually, but this does not solve the problem.

  I am unaware of the date of the last update because I'm unable to access the update log.

  I use a current version of McAfee Anti-virus.

  I think my windows is a clean install, but I didn't do it, so I can't be 100% certain.

  There is no way that anyone might be able to help without more. My initial guess and it is just a guess, is that you have to update Internet Explorer .v8. Click HERE and download IE8 and install it. Try again updates once the installation is complete.

  You have apparent dbx file corruption.

  Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

  With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

  After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

  Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  General precautions for Outlook Express:
