In Windows 7, don't right click on programs in the Start Menu gives no option.

I just installed Windows 7 on my new PC.

I want to be able to right click on the programs located in the Start Menu and different options available.  Now, if I click on a program listed in the Start Menu I get nothing ~ no menu appears.

As a result, some of the things that I can't do are (1) pins a program in the Start Menu, pin (2) a program to the taskbar and (3) run a program as an administrator.

If I right click on the same program located in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs".

the right click menu is displayed and I can do all the functions that must be available by right clicking on the version of the program in the Start Menu.

How do the right click on the programs located in the Start Menu works correctly?

  • Cannot access Internet and all programs on the start menu. How to get rid of a virus on windows xp

I was recently given a hand computer (compaq I tthink) so I'm not clear about all the fancy stuff to the extent of the ect CPU... but I know it has windows xp pro. in any case, a friend used my computer and for some reason any felt the need to download a program called 7-zip. Now, my computer is screwed... In the start menu > all programs, everything has disappeared! And I can access the system restore in normal boot and safe mode, but the window remains empty, we never really gave me the opportunity to use it. Oh and I can't get online in normal or safe boot mod either, what can I do?

Original title: how to get rid of a virus on windows xp proremove a virus from windows xp pro

    Hello

    1. Why do you think that the computer is infected with the virus? See you pop - unwanted ups or odd behavior of all programs?

2 have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

    3. did you run any online scanners to remove infections?

    4. What is the antivirus installed on the computer program?

Method 1: Run a scan antivirus on your computer.

    www.Microsoft.com/Security/Scanner

Note: If infections are detected during the scan, there is a risk of data loss because infected files will be deleted.

Method 2: Safe mode with networking

Step 1: Check if you can browse the Internet with success in Mode safe mode with networking.

Networking Mode safe mode starts Windows in mode safe mode and includes the network drivers and services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

Step 2: Put the computer in a State of boot is a way to know which application is causing this problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

Step 1: Follow the steps in the link below to do the same thing:

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as shown here:

Step 2: To configure Windows to use a Normal startup state

After you have used the boot is a way to solve your problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. Type msconfig and click OK. The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
    3. Click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

    Method 3:

Create a new user account and verify if you are able to access the program in the start menu.

Try to connect with a different user has administrator rights account and then create a new user account.

  • Missing programs in all programs on the start menu in Windows 7

I have Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1 installed on my laptop. In recent weeks, I noticed that a lot of programs have disappeared from all programs in the start menu. If I dig up the program on my HARD drive so I'm able to find but it causes a lot of problems that the programs are not visible in all programs. Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I had most of the programs listed in there, but some programs were missing...
Such as PowerPoint and Word, etc were missing from the list of all programs...
So what I did that I dragged the original MS Office program into the specified folder...

  • What are the programs in the start menu in Windows 7

    Hello

Assuming that I get a new computer and I just installed Windows 7 and nothing else. What are the programs will then be in the start menu?

As the current state of things, my computer starts very slowly, so I don't want to uninstall something if it is vital to start Windows 7.

    Thank you

    JIMOA

While nothing in the Startup tab is vital to win it can prevent vital programs from functioning as expected.

And if you buy a new PC, it would normally win pre-installed and the manufacturer will have also included all kinds of utilities/Add-ons not less a trial anti-virus program

  • Disable a program to the start menu Windows 8

I have a desktop HP Pavilion last month. I have a search engine, searchconduit.com, invading my OS. I ran Windows Defender Quick Scan and full Scan, do not show any threat. I want to check the start menu to see if it's there and turn it off. I went to tools and tried to remove it, but the "Delete" button is not active.

If she is not there, what everyone would say that I do to get rid of this problem?

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

There is a good guide on this withdrawal on the following link.  I would just say using the method 1 related to ccleaner and MBAM - also please note that you must use the versions free of these 2 applications.

  • Explorer Windows in Windows 7, do a right-click in 1 of the 4 causes of hard drives Windows Explorer to stop

Win 7, Windows Explorer, right click in the right hand only, Panel 1 of 4 hard drives causes Windows Explorer to stop.  The disk in question has been removed from my previous XP machine and inserted in it and a lot of files of data on it.  The other three disks were new and white discs.  All are formatted with NTFS and the disk in question worked well in my previous XP machine.  I have noticed no other problems with the drive.  Any suggestions as to what may cause this weird behavior and what I can do about it?  Thank you, gmhope

This could be a problem caused by an incompatibility between the different version of your bios on your xp machine. BIOS not all do the same things in the same way, I was taught that a hard drive from another machine may not work in another with a different bios. The bios needs flashing on the screen when you start, bios award, a commune is an example. If you start them both and they are both the same bios is not the cause, if they're differentmaybe that's the problem . If you no longer have your xp machine then it's not a way to say average ither.

But I suggest that you try to browse the disk using something else then windows Explorer (to avoid problem explorer).

Open the run command on your Start menu and type cmd this will open a command prompt.

Once opened type in the letter of the drive then an example of the colon (e :))

Pressing on enter you will now be in this drive, and then type dir and then press ENTER, this will bring up a list of files. If these steps work for you and are able to see the content of the file on your drive is intact, but there is a problem in Explorer that prevents you to use it.

If it solves your problem, click on the link "Propose as answer" below and vote as useful by clicking on the green triangle on the left.

  • My downloads via Firefox did in fact download - "Open" and "Open containing folder" and grayed out when I right click on downloads in the downloads menu

I had this problem for quite a while. Downloads Download not really. Nothing comes in my download folder (and I checked where they are supposed to be stored, I'm checking the right place). In my downloads through the client Firefox popup if I click on any download, 'Open' and 'Open containing folder' is greyed out. I tried using 18 Firefox and the current client every night and reinstalled several times.

What security (firewall, antivirus) software do you have?

So "open" and "Open containing folder" in the menu contextual in the window Download Manager are grayed out then it means that the file is no longer in the original download location and they have been removed by anti-virus software or cleaning.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupt downloaded files or otherwise interferes with the download of files.

Try disabling analysis in real time (live) files in your software anti-virus temporarily to see if that makes working download.

    1. do you get an error message/code?
    2. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?
    3. which antivirus program is installed on the computer?

This problem can occur if a third-party program or application prevents the computer to shut down.

I suggest for the link and follow the steps in the article:

You cannot log off, restart or shut down your Windows XP-based computer
-Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
-ATTENTION: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

In addition, the link and follow the steps in advanced troubleshooting.

Your computer stops responding when you try to shut down in Windows XP
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/313290#top
-Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
-Note: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
-Note: Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

  • Recent programs on the start menu is not - don't know why?

I read the other posts and have not used "CCleaner", but have used other registry cleaner products. Any ideas how can I fix?

    Hi K_Wallett,

There may be not much that can be done for this, if the registry has been modified or corrupted/damaged. You can try one of the options is to perform a repair installation: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917964 however, before this just so that there is no other issue you will want to make sure you have all your programs, files, folders, and everything you don't want to lose saved on an external device. (just to be sure that your data are safe).

  • Windows Fax and Scan does not appear in the start menu

: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and you want to (a) send faxes via a modem local fax and b scan docs from a local scanner. I mean, there should be a program Windows fax and scan shown in the start menu. I clicked all programs on the start menu, and it doesn't always show. Suggestions?

    From: Hal

Fax and scan is available in Windows Vista Business and Ultimate editions, it is not available in any of the Windows Vista Home editions.  Since you have a version of Windows Vista Edition family, the only option of fax is a third-party product.  These products work under Windows Vista:

    Snappy Fax

    http://www.snappysoftware.com/

    RKSFax

    http://www.rkssoftware.com/rksfax/overview.html

    VentaFax

    http://www.VentaFax.com/

    FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 7.5

    http://www.FaxTalk.com/products/ftfcp/index.htm

I have seen reports that the free version of BVRP also works with Windows Vista:

    http://www.usr.com/BVRP/bvrp.asp

    BVRP PhoneTools

Given the above comes with the new USR modem, I don't know if it will work with no - USR modems.  Alternatively, you can send faxes via your Internet connection provided you are willing to pay for an Internet E - Fax service:

    Hello

Sounds like the shortcut has been damaged (do you use a registry cleaner on this system?). Try this: right-click the taskbar, click Properties. On the start menu tab, click Customize. For music and images, check the radial box to not display this element. Apply/ok your way out, then restart the system normally. Now, reverse the steps to add them in the menu and see if there is no change.
