  So you need to check if the BIOS so the CD/DVD drive is listed. It should appear on the first page of the BIOS.

  If you want to boot from the disk and then switch on and you press F12.

  My recommendation would be to restore using the image of MR (Macrium Reflect) you did.

  But then, I used Mr. on all my PCs for years and am a big fan - having had it Miss ever in the years and years of use.

  You will need boot from the boot of MR media (you did that right) and, if you photographed all the required partitions for the operating system, restore it on the new drive should take a few minutes, and when this is done, you reboot and everything should be OK.

  Okay so if please bear with me and be patient.  I'm not tech savvy.  I know enough to be able to remove an old hard drive and put another one, but when there are errors, I don't know what to do.

  The Windows installation is not happy about something, and since it gets at least started which is a good thing, but your installation problem can not really be with Windows - perhaps something about Dell hardware or your 1 TB HARD drive.

  If the installation still fails it would not hurt to do the BIOS setting and see if things are getting longer, and since you are going to write the current settings before proceeding with the adjustment you can always cancel the adjustment if things get worse.

Obviously as the hard drive crashed, I was unable to disable CS5 extended before the crash. I have it charging on the new hard drive and in the meantime bought a desktop computer in which I loaded CS5. Updates have been working fine on the laptop. I tried to update the program on the new computer, but continue to receive error messages. I have read in any problems and think maybe computer laptop harddrive that crashed had CS5 yet on it, as I was unable to turn it off because I didn't know he was going to crash. I am only able to load CS5 on 2 computers and if it is still on the destroyed hard drive so I'm not able to turn it off and so I presume that is why I can not download the updates on my new computer.   Hello Hirroshi, it seems that drives hard very little HP only work in an HP computer, or so I said. I think it has to do with some code that HP puts in the Master Boot Record, but that's just a guess. I read on the Forum that this is the case.

  I suggest that you delete the partition on the replacement hard drive, and then create a new partition and format the hard drive. You should be able to use the recovery disk, if they are not damaged and that you have a valid burn.

  But as far as I know the Portege Z830 was equipped with an mSATA SSD drive.
  This means that the laptop doesn't support HDD 2.5 common but requires special mSATA SSD drive module.

  In case your warranty is not valid, you will pay for a new mSATA module.
