  I have a Dell inspiron 15. I had windows 8.1 on my computer. I was took in charge of affairs with services being disabled on my computer. I couldn't access the apps on my computer sounds.   1. once I get this message that I start correctly on Windows and that my system works ok.

  Thank you that worked for me even if I don't have to go to the Microsoft download website.  I checked the history of update and there were a few who failed to update.  He said there was updates had to wait to be downloaded so I clicked on that and then selected the updates, click on the bottom. I think he may have said then or download it now.  It took me back to the update page where I chose to update.  Which corrects the problem.  I have them one at a time incase there was a special that was causing problems, but they fine all the updates and my computer restarted normally

  I come here with a difficult problem... I have a Probook s 4740. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8 and HP security tools. Recently, I decided to upgrade to 8.1 Windows and for that I had to uninstall HP security tools. I did the uninstall and update of Windows. After a day of using the computer hang. I have updated using HP recovery. As the version of the OS was old he himself day after a day or two. The update went well.   I finally solved my problem with the update kb2756872 ("update failed, returning of changes"). It was caused by the reserved partition Windows is not set to active (I dual boot using GRUB). Go to the Control Panel-> administrative tools control->-> computer managementdisk management and make sure that the reserved partition is marked 'Active'. This also solves many other problems I experienced as not able to activate Windows startup settings.
