Increasing occurrence of corrupt PDF files

We are a company in the United Kingdom of digitization, send us the PDF to the offshore waters for indexing, and put them us, (with Filezilla) more more we find the most corrupt. We run a check "sync" with WinSCP, but unfortunately the corruptions are not fixed. The "Corrupt" PDF open OK in WIN8 (PDF X-Change), however they will not open in Win 7. To fix corrupt PDF files literally rotate us the PDF in PDF X-Change and then save them. This seems to fix the problem, but I'm puzzled as to why this is, someone knows something?

Hi Lan,

I understand your concern, but it is difficult to recognize the cause of the corruption of pdf file.  This may be due to: -.

  • PDF was created with a non Adobe program and is not consistent with industry standards.
  • Or the file is corrupted.

However, some methods to repair the pdf file may work like the one you mentioned above.

Kind regards

Nicos

  • How can I increase the number of PDF files that can be open at the same time of 20?

I like the new pdf viewer integrated into Firefox a lot because I'm constantly review sheets at work. However, he seems to have a limit of 20 simultaneous files. The machine I work has no danger of running out of memory anytime soon, so is there a setting I can change to increase this limit?
    Thank you.

Hello michael, this limit is not directly related to the pdf files in the internal viewer, but you can try the following workaround: enter about: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named dom.workers.maxPerDomain. Double-click the preference and set it to a higher value.

I insert a large .u3d model of construction in PDF file (more), very slow when opening it (more than 30 minutes). Is it possible to improve it during the creation of the PDF file? It is acceptable to reduce the precision of the model shape/color/texture when inserting in the PDF. I think that my hardware is OK, THINKPAD 520 with 8G of RAM. It's urgent for me. For solutions or clues, please let me know.

No direct experience of Okino but you won't find many people who say that their PolyTrans is a powerful tool. However, I have tested all other applications that I mentioned in my previous answer by a remark: If you aim to simplify the mesh, they are all extremely complex. Perhaps, the only suitable for the layman is Rhino rhinoceros - downloads; it provides an export utility where users can select several options to reduce the number of nodes. Also look at the script environment: I could quite easily find a way to generate scripts in Blender and MeshLab to process a batch of files without the GUI, but I didn't do it with Rhino, but I see it has script capabilities Rhinoceros - overview and Developer: rhinoscript [McNeel Wiki]

  • How to fix a corrupted PDF file

    Hey guys,.

Hope that's not too easy a question, but I have a PDF file that is damaged and will not open on my site. I did a search and there were a lot of results, but most seem to point to different types of software that you download. If need be, I'll have to go in this direction, but I thought I'd post here until I did it.

This is probably due to the size and the fact that it is not "optimized for Fast Web View'. When I use PDF Optimzer to reduce the size of the file, she went from 10,85 MB to 4.58 MB. When optimized for fast web view, the first page displays much more quickly, then otherwise.

  • A pdf file exported from InDesign, but displays various error messages when the same file is downloaded on the same laptop from the company's Web site

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a pdf file created for my business. It exports without problems and displays correctly on my computer, but once it is transferred to the Web site and you download from here, pages randomly displayed not correctly, images and pieces of text go missing and different "internal error" messages pop up, such as:

    "An internal error has occurred."

"There is an error on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the pdf document to correct the problem.

"Failed to retrieve the embedded police"LICYDR + GaramondMT". Some characters may not display or print correctly.
    "Insufficient for an image.

And when I close the pdf file it asks if I want to save even if I did not bring any changes to the document. It seems that everyone has problems with pages and receive different error messages. It is exported using the smallest file size preset in InDesign. Any idea what could be the cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

One thing to check is if BINARY is used in the FTP client. If a client FTP ASCII is used, it may corrupt PDF files.

Here's another thing to check yourself for you. Find the size in bytes of your original PDF. Now, look at the size of the uploaded file in bytes. Are they the same? If this is not the case, ask your colleague the size in bytes of the PDF file on the server. Is this the same as the original, or bad file?

  • Problem reading pdf files sent by e-mail

I saved some impressions of release of the software for pdf files (software has option for registration in pdf format) and e-mail to a co-worker.  I can see and print very well from my hard drive, but the recipient received only the points on pages.  Should have been numbers and text.  I have Adobe 8.1.2.  You have an idea why it happened or what to do?  Thank you.

Some e-mail servers corrupt PDF files as they use the encoding wrong for them. Try their compression upward before sending.

Hello perdomoff, a fix for this problem should happen in firefox 26. in the meantime, you could also install the current development version of the pdf viewer, which is available as addon from http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/extensions/firefox/pdf.js.xpi and that should already contain the fix.

    Hi mt88,

If you are looking for editable text scans, you can buy OCR software that will allow you to scan to the editable document.

  • Electronic signature PDF file increases the size of the file about 3 MB

We use our Smart badge certificates to sign electronically PDF documents.  This action adds recently ~ 3 MB for each file for each signature.  It is a recent phenomenon.  It didn't last month.  When you do that, you might have multiple signatures on a PDF of 1 page and the overall size of the file was very small, like the size of 200-300kb.  What could have been changed and the suggestions on how reset it?

In fact, I found a possible solution:

    Edit / Preferences / Signatures

    1. Design & appearance: uncheck "include signature's revocation status.
    2. Audit: Uncheck "Require the revocation of the certificate to succeed..." »

    See the screenshots below:

Note, this is Adobe XI and uses certificates from a SmartBadge.  It seems that fairly constant file size (not dramatically increasing the size of the file).,.

Deleted file recovery can recover incomplete files, i.e. the part of these files may be missing.  Recover deleted files is much more reliable if recovery of a backup, instead of using recovery software.

These things depend on the operating system and the file system.

One thing, you can see: open one of these files damaged with a text editor, and then make sure that the constant % PDF is somewhere in the first 1024 bytes.

PS please do not post ALL uppercase; It is very difficult to read!

Print > save as PDF - use an excerpt (part of Mac OS X), so Adobe Reader should have no effect on that at all.

As for the error "file corrupted", simply uninstall the Reader app will not affect it. Follow these steps:

    Mac/HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins

Trash the files AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

    Mac HD/Applications

    Trash the application Adobe Reader

    [user] / Library/Preferences

    Trash the com.adobe.Reader.plist file

To access the [user] / Library, hold down the 'Option' and click on 'Go' in the FInder menu.

    Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe

    Trash the drive (full record)

    Empty the trash.

Download the installer FULL here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Quit your browser, and then reinstall the drive.

Run it from the Applications folder and agree to the license agreement.

You should have no problem with Safari PDF files download.

Unfortunately, ANY PDF file that says it is damaged.... You will need their trash.

  • PDF files download via imap with the incorrect file size and is considered to be "corrupted".

    Hello

I have a computer that is using thunderbird for imap emails. Any time I try to view a pdf, the open used attachment attachment and is reported as damaged. I downloaded a PDF directly from godaddy (mail host) and I can view the file properly. I also noticed that the file I tested was 105K when shown on the godaddy webmail but it was only 103K when appearing as an attachment under thunderbird. I also forwarded the email to myself since the webmail and when I open the email of forwareded, the size of the file is correct and the pdf file now opens. I would like to be able to open PDF files with thunderbird without having to send them to myself since the webmail. Are there settings I could change so that PDF files will be correct the first time?

    Thank you

Try this: open Tools/Options/Advanced/general/Config. Editor, double-click on the mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks preference to change its value from true to false, close the Config. Editor, OK, restart TB and see if you still have problems to open the attachments.

  • Why pdf files fail to download (or are corrupted) after that I upgraded to OS 10.6.8?

I managed to download the same files if you are using Safari. Is there something in Firefox that I need to update since I've updated my OS?

    Hi RNewport-

I don't know how an upgrade of the OS would influence the download of a PDF file. I noticed that you are on the oldest version of Firefox and suggests that upgrading to the latest version here:

    http://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/new/

In Firefox, you can manage your preferences on how Firefox displays or records all types of files, including PDF files. Here is the article describing how to do:
