Index - search

Is there a way you can add a key word in the index, and designer when a user performs a search outside the tab Index, topics related to this keyword displays? For example, when you search for dogs all breads displayed when searching on the Index tab. If I have an overview on a dog that does not contain the word "dog", this topic does not appear when you perform a search on the outside o the Index tab.

Advice on how to enable all sections show without having to type any combination of key words in the description of the topic?

Hi all

I couldn't agree more that a very good clue is what is needed. Those who have been here awhile will probably be moaning when I tell that story again.

Once I built a very large system of WinHelp. (250 + connected. HLP files). This system had a pretty decent clue and people were well accustomed to it. Largely because of my constant evangelism of the use of the Index and to be highly responsive and receptive to suggestions of keywords.

Enter the world of the web.

Due to the popularity of the system, I was, uh, how to say it. "Strongly encouraged" by our LAN service for this convert to HTML format and place it on the company intranet. (LAN guys were sick to death of create mappings of special reader for every Tom, Dick and Harry who saw my system and wished to have access to it)

To make a longer story, WebHelp was not ripe yet. I used FrontPage and framesets galore to imitate the WinHelp system. But he was missing an Index. One thing led to another, and I had to get out because of the political wind shifts. I finally left and moved to another company. Then I was invited back. What I was told was that people "wanted the research/the research/the research wanted wanted" (song ad nauseam)

so, I got this wonderful Index. BUT I did use smoke and mirrors on them. I modified my WebHelp skin so search wasn't even an option. I understand not all means of research either. What I DID do, it was to replace my image index with the image used for the Search.

Bottom line was all they had was the clue that I have provided. What they thought they received was "The Search." Users were happy/PHB were happy / I was happy.

See you soon... Rick

When I link to my html main project file A and then click a link to return to the main html table component file contents/index/search remains on the screen. How can I remove it?

I work with RH8 and Windows 7. I generate Webhelp.

I can link the files generated or published very well. However, when I start moving around in the files/projects, the components of the table of contents/index/search are still visible.

I'm not sure you can. It's like any link on any Web site, if the link opens another browser instance or tab, it is up to the user to close.

Merged help would just open the other topic and keep the user in the same tab. When they click on the links to various projects, the first topic closed and the following would open up.

  • RH7 - size of the font of contents, Index, search

    Hello group,

I work in RH7 version HTML version 7.00.145.  WebHelp, we use for our published entries.  Is it possible to increase the size of the font in the table of contents, index and search (not the buttons - the actual text)?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

    TW

    Hello

The easy way is to open the skin editor and go to the tab Navigation. At the bottom of the tab, you can set the font family, size, and color of the navigation pane, including the index, search, and glossary.

If you want a little more control, say the different font sizes to the table of contents, Index, or search pane, you can change the font size in the output files.

  • I do not see the table of contents, Index, search & amp; Glossary when the call for help on a topic

Does anyone else have this problem? I use webhelp with contextual sensitivity, and I appeal to the table of contents, Index, search, and glossary to display. If I go to the welcome home page, they are exposed. But when we ask for help on a particular page, these areas are not shown, but they can be opened using the view link. I much prefer to see the exposed left pane, rather that ask the user to click on this link. How can I do this?

You ask about Windows 7 or Outlook?   Big difference.

In Win7, when you click on the starting planet, you'll see a text box pop up.  It's the search system for 7.  You can change it by typing indexing options in this box.  Select it from the list that appears.  In this window, you can change what the indices of the indexer.

The search in Outlook system is independent of that.  I do not use this product so I can't take you to that answer.

  • Error JavaScript prevents the table of contents, Index, search view

I produced my RoboHelp HTML project webhelp and got an error javascript (this.maCom [...] (' is null or not an object) when you view the result. See the full error text below. So the table of contents, index and search are not displayed. We'll find the javascript error in the status bar of the browser that says "error on page". I found that if I saw the result of robohelp, the browser that launched shows the table of contents, index and search, but has a security warning about a restriction of running scripts or ActiveX controls. However, when I move the generated webhelp on my production server, the help doesn't have the security warning, but produces the error so that the table of contents, index and search do not show. I had done the same process to generate webhelp about 8 months ago but had no error whatsoever. In fact, this version is still in production and works very well.

In my search for the problem, I found that it is the same error as message of the forum 4063663 (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4063663). I didn't have a second system with RoboHelp to be able to get other whphost.js, however, I have diff had the file generated with that found in template_stock and found only two different lines. These differences were only to replace a couple of variables with static text so I do not replace this file will solve any problem for me. That is the message of only forum I could find who addressed this issue.

I was originally on RoboHelp 8.0.0 when I first encountered the problem, but has expanded and patched to version 8.0.2 and still had the same problem. I even created a new simple project. Once I moved the simple project on the production server, it also would display the table of contents, index and search.

The strange thing is that only 8 months ago, I used the same process to generate webhelp without any errors (on 8.0.0). The only thing I can find is there is a Windows XP patch which affected the generation of webhelp. Furthermore, I also tried chrome and also produces the error.

I don't know what is causing this problem or how to solve the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

After further research and testing, I found the update of security for RoboHelp 8 and 9 (http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-23.html) posted as an ad that I had not seen before. I used the feature updates of the product, but that said I was informed and did not include this update.

Both javascript in this update files solve the problem. The table of contents, index and search now appear.

    Update:
As I studied the problem further (when writing this reply), I found files that are newer than the latest security patches, I was aware of that. In addition, I discovered that my security organization decided to patch with APSB12-04 I don't know. This patch is why my 8.0.0 installation magically stop working. I see the announcement of the security, the bulletin was not all the required components for specific, that the patch can be applied to 8.0.1 and 8.0.2). (8.0.0, Adobe, please give more information on the ballots of so that organizations that deploy auto will be forced to find out what is running before the update. Information such as whether they apply to all versions of Robohelp 8 or simply a specific version. If APSB12-04 was supposed to apply to all versions of 8, then it did not work. In fact, he broke my installation of 8.0.0 for the generation of webhelp, but a later installation of 8.0.1 and 8.0.2. It seems that they have done a better job for APSB11-23. Maybe the security updates should be a kind of service pack that has a plant and a cancellation process. Right now, my security organization has replaced the files based on the specification in the security bulletin.

I'll try to patch with APSB12-04 new since I've updated version 8.0.2 database to see if I still have the webhelp. If I can't view the table of contents, I have to take off once more and be 'in non-compliance."

  • 6.3.1 Department does not not indexed search.

    Hello

I would like to use the access log to monitor the use of research not indexed. I think not wrong in saying that these should be always connected, as a result, with the text "notes = U'. '. This text can then be monitored by using the logconv utility report.

However, I ran several tests where I specifically search attributes indexed and only the unindexed attributes. All these searches appear in my access log, but none have a nonindexed indicator.

I'd appreciate any help to work on what I need to do to enable the logging of research not indexed.

    Thanks for any help.

Searches are probably indexed. If your database has less to allidsthreshold (default: 4000) entered subordinated under the container dn that you specify as the base for the search DN, the index system (parentid/ancestorid, depending on whether you use one or void) will cause your search is indexed regardless of which is the filter. Try to add enough entries under the base dn for the token allids put in the index system.

  • Index search does not work

I created an index in my HR project with several keywords, but when I search a keyword, it can't find it.

Is it possible that I am supposed to be marking which will make available for research?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think I understand what is happening now. Thanks for the photos. They helped a lot.

Here's the deal. There is research (with its own Search tab) and it has Index.

In search, the box is empty until you make a search by typing what you want and clicking a button or pressing ENTER. At this time there the WebHelp scans all topics and returns a list of the topics that contain the terms you searched for. You click on the links and see the topics.

With the Index, you have a list of pre-programmed keywords. Key words often also exist within the themes, but they do not have to be. For example, perhaps you sell a product that looks like an albatross. Or maybe a special symbol in the software looks like a happy man. Now you wouldn't necessarily have a descripton in the text that actually reads "Happy man" or "Albatross", but you could program a few key words, allowing the end user to find topics related to them by typing "Happy man" or "Albatross" in the Index field.

In your case, you seem to subject that the Index is not automatically adjusts as you type so that the set keyword is listed. Using the example I mentioned earlier, the user can type H A P and they see float magickally 'Happy man' at the top of the list. In this case, they see what they want to, click on the entry and they leave without having to type the full on 'Happy Man' term.

The Index field is actually how it works. But here's the twist. This type of automatically adusting to match what you typed against terms of Index in the list will be for a term of "Primary" level The terms that you pointed out to appear to be the terms level "secondary." What you need to do in order to allow the Index to work as you seem to want is too much to also have the secondary terms listed as primary mandate.

This is actually more common that one might think. For example, I worked as a Web Developer for a division of the company that employed me. Part of my work has led to using RoboHelp to develop and maintain knowledge bases. One of the Bases of knowledge was widely used by the service area on the ground. They should be able to easily find the information on clients. They can locate using the name of the customer, Subscriber or customer number. So I had to a main Index reference to the numbers of subscribers. And all issues of customer listed as secondary terms. But customer numbers also exist as primary mandate where the rep began to enter a customer number in the field.

I hope I understood the problem accurately, and this better explains what is happening.
