Indices from scratch whenever I connect to Windows Desktop Search.

Hello
I was frustrated for a while because my PC seems to work for centuries after the start to the top.  Now, I realized that this is because Windows Desktop Search indexes from scratch every time.  It takes more than an hour for about 65 000 items in the index and then works fine.  But when I switch the computer the next time I log on the number of indexed items is zero and it starts indexing all over again.
I deleted Windows Search and re-installed the latest version, but it's still the case.  Surely, it should contain the elements previously indexed.
Any ideas on what I should do?

Hi, John Robert E.

· Do you remember recent changes made to your computer before the show?

· What is the service pack installed on the computer?

Rebuild indexing on your computer and check the results:

a. click on start

b. click Control Panel

c. Select indexing options

d. Select the Advanced tab

e. Select rebuild.

This error indicates that the Windows Installer Service is being used for another installation or update at this time. Alongside the installation of another program, updates Windows can also occupy the Windows Installer service and must therefore fill before you run another installation.

However, if a previous installation failed and no not close properly, you can complete the Windows Installer process manually:

    1. Open the Task Manager and go to the tab "processes".
    2. Select "Show processes from all users" if it isn't already.
    3. Locate and put an end to any "MSIExec.exe" with adobe entries that see you.

  • Windows Desktop Search gaps in the entire office vs specific folder search

I am running Windows XP Pro on a laptop, and have installed WDS. If I search for a file from the Windows taskbar, it shows a file in my folder. If I click find on the file menu bar, (which opens from WDS, but specifies to search only in this case), it says that the file is not there. I tripled checked, closed the windows and searched again, with the same results. The 'version' of WDS that appears when looking for a specific folder, do not use the same index using the search bar? • Windows Desktop Search is not working properly

For some time after 4 days my computer will be slow and does not respond well. If I stop and start again, a box appears saying that desktop search is not working properly and options to stop the computer, reboot and rebuild the index.  After that performance improves for a few days.  What is the problem? Your help is appreciated.

    slberry50,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

Looks like the indexing service is not running, or stops for some reason any.  We will check the indexing service to see if it is set to automatically run first.
    Restart the Windows Search service
Click Start, type services in the start search box and press ENTER.
    List programs, click Services.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.
Scroll down and locate the service which is the Windows Search label.
Right-click the service and then click Properties.
Set the startup type: automatic (delayed start).
Click Start to start the service, and then click OK.

Rebuild the database that is used by the search indexer
Click Start, the index in the search box and press ENTER.
List programs, click on Indexing Options.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.
    Click Advanced.
Click on rebuild and then click OK to the warning that appears.
Click OK to close the Indexing Options.
Note: From now on, the system must re - index documents and electronic mail. However, when indexing is complete, it is likely that the performance of the system will return to acceptable levels.

Run a file system check to ensure that no file system is damaged:
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

  • Windows Desktop Search showing no results found in Windows 8.

Original title: Windows 8 & Office 2013 will not get!

    Hello

I booted up my PC in Windows 8, one day, and in Windows Explorer when I go looking for something in the Windows Explorer search bar does nothing. And when I use the charm of Windows 8 search it doesn't do anything either, I can search for Apps, but not the files. In OneNote when I go on my research notes it says "No. Results" even if there is a page called what I was looking for. Even when I am looking for emails in Outlook. I use Google Desktop right now, but it's hard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Continuous availability increasing, starts from scratch whenever I start

I have a laptop of HP Envy 15 TS. It is new and works quite well. Recently, I opened the Task Manager to view availability. And I couldn't believe my eyes when he said he worked for the last 1:19:49:44. I stopped him. Again, it works for an hour. When I open the task--> 1:20:54:53 Manager. I am new to windows 8 (and HP) but I am familiar with windows 7 and all of the operating system. Is this normal? Cause when I use my other laptop it always starts from 0:0. Is my laptop not close properly?

The problem is solved thanks to the great people at HP support.

  • Windows Desktop Search is slow on Windows 8.1

    Hello

I have tried everything I can find on these forums, but my research is still slow!  The problem I see is that I press the Windows key on my keyboard, then start typing a search term.  He never finds anything, it gives me just the points 'wait' at the top of the screen.  I curse then give up seconds after 25 or more.  I know this used to work because despite the slowness, I always usually do this.

Are there measures that actually work? Things I remember trying:

    -reset the cache

-Defragment the hard drive (default response product support for everything but I tried anyway)

-move some temporary files as found in this form

-Everything that I could find get this forum about 10 times... don't really remember.

What has worked for you?  Everything really works?  I'm about to pay the $149 to get it spots, bothers.

HA!  I thought about it.  It is not at all what you expect.

My original ASUS had some hardware problems if I swapped out in the Microsoft store because of your great guarantee cool.

The new computer all my profile and files copied from OneDrive.  The upgrade was much better than I had hoped because of the functionality Windows 8.0 cool.

HOWEVER, the new computer had a different name from the original computer.  Something in the transfer of profile do not update things to the new computer name.

For example when I tried to insert an image in an e-mail message, he is looking, say, 30 seconds, and then produces an error when looking OldComputerName.  It took a while for this register - me was familiar with the name of the computer.   I looked in the registry for any sort of MRU entries.  None.  I looked around all the list of default file locations Options.  None.

Once I had this big light bulb moment sure I pressed more to change my name from the computer to the original one and all is going well.

You should forward this on people who have coded the backup profile stuff on OneDrive - it causes problems if you have changed the name of your computer!

  • Limitations of Windows Desktop Search?

I have Windows Search 4.0 installed on my work computer, (XP Professional). I get unreliable results when I do my research. The program sometimes fails to find the words that I know are there, it is sometimes part of my research, for example 'stegmotor' gave a list of all the files where 'steg' could be found. If I'm looking without "" before and after the keyword sometimes get no results. When I include them I have too many files.  Is there a size limit?  Indexed total size is 13 GB.

    With regard to Mr Schweppes

I have no real answer for you, but are you sure you want to work with WDS? Because I work with Lookeen and never had problems like that, he always find what I was looking for...

Sorry I don't have any better solution for you, but maybe you try this tool and it works then!
