  I checked Win Update to see which updates 10/02/2016 (last updated) can reveal a clue. There was no list of updates from 10/02/2016 even if I remember to update and restarted successfully.

  I always, check after update of windows, "History of revision update" to make sure that the updates were successful.

  And today, there is no history of it.

  I did a system restore from 23/09/2016 (critical update restore point).

  The system successfully restored and the name of the icon "Computer" was back.

  Completing an update of window that shows successful.

  Seems to work OK.

  Does anyone know what has caused the change of name of icon to a number?

  Thanks ShlomiL!  I had already crossed the Printers & Scanners under system preferences.  This would appear to make the printer scanner but do not seem to move the scan anywhere on my computer.  I tried to use Image Capture and didn't get the error message 'no scanner or camera connected.  However, I installed the HP Easy Scan soft and that worked.  Thank you very much.

  Get ToolTips in your general preferences.  If this is not the case, delete your preferences. On mac, it's done now and hold command-option-shift as Illy starts.
