Information required to activate XP on a replacement drive

I got a computer that has the original XP disc and the original XP registration code - straight. It was without a hard disk for safety reasons, I have to use a disc from another computer inside. I'll install XP on the drive by using the registration code, then turn it on. I think it should be OK because the motherboard CD and the registration code will be all the same. The only thing that concerns me is that during the activation process I will ask you questions to which I don't know the answer to-and personal data of the person who initially activated XP on this computer. I be asked everything?

No personal data will be asked. However if the product key code has been used previously to activate Windows XP then you may need to activate by phone.

  • Replaced drive now in lieu of a State, does that mean?

I had a drive fail in a PV hanging off a PERC 6, and it rebuilt to the hot spare fine. Now I'm put a new drive in the slot where the failed drive was, went into the RAID BIOS where I assumed it would be in a Ready state and waiting for me to mark it as the new hot spare, but it is in a Replacing state, not Ready, so I cant mark it as the new hot spare. Does this mean its rebuilding from the hot spare to that new drive and then the former hot spare now live drive will go back to being the hot spare again?

    Hello rjo80,

Yes the hot spare is to copy the data on the replacement drive & once it's over then it will go back to being a spare disk.  On the PERC card, there is a feature that recalled the copy that has been activated & with that enabled that is why u who sees in the PERC bios.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Loss of disk space available every day as System Volume Information folder is the largest on my hard drive

My PC is under Windows7 Home Premium... version 6.1... Build 7601... service pack 1.

I have a 1 TB hard drive... 3 weeks ago, I've had approximately 813 gb free space... now, I have only 603 gb of free space. I noticed that the folder System Volume Information is passed to 209,53 Go. Don't know why this issue became so great. I lost about 5 to 20 GB of free space on the hard disk every day.

The System Volume Information folder is the largest on my hard drive... Users folder is 43.38 GB... Windows folder is 31.89 GB... WinSxS folder is 15,18 GB.

I installed a couple of applications in the last 6 months... Driver booster... Download App... and size of file.

I didn't save my PC in the last 3 weeks because of this problem.

The only application that I use for backup is MotoCast USB... it creates a backup of the SD card in my smartphone to my PC.  I've been backup card SD in my phone every 3-4 weeks for the past 2 years but never lost so much hard drive space until the last 3 weeks.

    Any suggestions?

I suggest that you should the Zone Alarm Firewall and use Windows Firewall.

  • replaced drive perc5i

    Hello

I recently replaced a drive in a poweredge server 2950 with perc controller 5 / i running RAID-5. There are 4 disks on slot 0 and 2 drives on the connector 1.

Replaced drive is 0:0:1 and is stuck in the ready state.  I have tried to add as a hot spare but can't seem to get this drive to come online.  While checking this point, disc 1:0:5 is also stuck in a ready state, and not online. (I think that this was replaced by a former employee in the past)

    1. can you someone explain global hot spare vs dedicated emergency and if I want to drive one.  I find this very confused and do not understand the reading that I still find.  One even told me that the replacement drive would only pick up the slack for the connector, to which it was attached?

    2. how to make disk 0:0:1 online and 1:0:5 online?

    3. the disk 0:0:0 is also in a State of predicted failure and I have a disc for this but I would like to firstly with these other two.  I understand, that it is unlikely to have two failed disks at the same time, but we are dealing with 2006 readers

Any help would be appreciated.  I apologize in advance for any terminology that I hacked upward and also for my ignorance on this subject.

    v/r

    Blair

    1.

Dedicated hot spare: A disk that is ready to take the place of a disk that fails - any disk that is part of the table that is assigned the rescue. If you have a RAID 1 and RAID 5 3x1TB 2x1To, you can assign the emergency to protect ONLY the RAID 5, so if a RAID 1 drive fails, it will not rebuild, but if a disk in the RAID 5 fails, it will rebuild in who has no place to drive.

World Relief: A disk that is ready to take the place of any disk that fails - a disk that is part of a table. In the scenario above, you can assign the disk as a global hot, then regardless of what table failed disk belongs, the hot spare will rebuild in its place.

A hot spare must be at least as large as the disk, it must replace, and a hot spare must be the same type of disk (SATA/SAS) than the player he must replace.

One even told me that the replacement drive would only pick up the slack for the connector, to which it was attached

    This is not true.

    2.

It depends on your configuration. Obviously you are not running just a single RAID 5, or with two drives in the State LOAN, your data table / would be gone. So, we need to know exactly the configuration that you are running.

    3.

Yes, you should start with the other two, with fully redundant table and fail in good health before the disc pred. You will need to FORCE it offline before replacing... WHEN you are ready to do so.

I had one laptop I had for 5 years. It came with windows vista installed on it.  About 4 months ago, I bought windows 7 Home premium allowed for Latin America and the Caribbean. I installed it on the laptop and it worked fine. Then about 2 months ago the motherboard on laptop computer exploded and I bought a new laptop provided with windows 7 pre-installed.

I want to do a clean format of this new laptop with my windows 7 CD. I have a license key I had with the CD which, according to the trend above is not valid and I will not be able to activate windows (even though I own the copy) I have also another key, I had with the laptop.

My question is if I use the installation CD I bought and used the activation key, that I got with my laptop that I'd be able to activate it?

What if they are of the same edition would you be able to use the product at the bottom of the laptop key.

Before we do, have you tried to restart by phone.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    Dear Experts,

I need help on the following two queries,

    (1) is there a views or the name of the table to get information about the original Exp (I tried Google, but I can't find it)

    (2) last full dump of i took original Exp and I manually stop it so that it export.

Can I use this dump exp partially completed for future use (almost there fill 90%)

maximum of the required user/data was exported.

    Or

I can't use this partially completed exp complete discharge.

    Please share your idea

    (1) you shouldn't use exp and IMP. You must use the datapump: expdp and impdp.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e22490/dp_overview.htm#SUTIL100

    (2) the dumpfile is just SQL commands, then it might be useful even if she has not done.

  • Firefox requires to activate Acrobat Reader for each web site. How can I stop this behavior?

Whenever I opened a PDF Firefox makes me activate the plugin Acrobat reader. "Allow and remember ' recalls only on a site-by-site basis. How can I get Firefox to always allow Acrobat reader plugin?

This behavior is really boring and too controlling. Although years ago the Acrobat plugin was buggy, it has been stable for a long time. I don't like the Firefox builtin pdf viewer and I want to continue to use the Adobe viewer.

You can set the default behavior in Firefox/tools > Modules > Plugins.
