ink cartridge error (failed electric pen)

Deskjet D4360 printer; 32-bit Windows/vista; request entry/solution for/on "ink cartridge error (failed electric pen)."  new placement of ink cartridge were found. due research: have cleaned the contacts of cartridges (w / fluffy lin distilled water & reinstall cartridge. problem persists)

What cartridge has been replaced? Make sure the printer is connected directly to the wall jack to make sure that the printer gets enough energy to function properly. Remove the cartridge and inspect the chute. Do you see differences between the two falls as a missing metal PIN or debris in one that is not in the chute on the other? Given that you have cleaned and inspected the cartridges already, I would then try reset the printer the following. No user settings are lost with this reset and they're trying to put the printer back into a known working state and clear the error message.

To do this reset:
1. take the cartridges from the printer and close the access door.
2. If the printer is turned on, unplug the power cord at the back of the printer. Then disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet
3. wait at least 30 seconds
4. connect the power cord to the wall outlet, and then again in the printer
5 wait for the machine to start. Once he recognizes that the cartridges are missing, place them in a moment.

I hope this helps.

@ REBjr.  -I understand that you are getting the error message on the printer that is related to the print cartridges.  Are you using genuine HP unfilled ink in the printer? I would like to start by doing a hard reset of the product to try to put the printer back into a known working state and try to clear the error message before replacing parts.  Here is a document that provides the steps for the hard reset.  Also, is there residue on the black cartridge?  If so, I would look at this link here. • Ink cartridge error: refer to the Documentation of the printer

I've scoured the forums for a solution to my problem and come up with nothing. I have a HP Photosmart C5250 all in one connected via USB to a Dell Inspiron under Windows 7 64-bit. I tried the reset suggested several times with no ink cartridges does not. I use HP brand ink cartridges. In its current form, I have no need to print anything but I need to scan something into my computer and the error message prevents me from doing anything. I've lived the documentation several times and he told me something that I already have his not know or is not already done.

Hey SGibbons, lets try the following steps:

    1. without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable (if connected like that) from the back of the product

    2. remove the cartridges from the product. Wait that a message to insert the cartridges. If you don't see a message in a few minutes, go to the next Ste.

    3. disconnect the power cord from the back of the product. Wait 60 seconds

4 reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the power button

5 reinsert the cartridges and close the doors on the product. If you are prompted to print a calibration page, do it.  If you disconnected the USB cable, plug it back in the back of the product

    6. try to reprint

I would like to know if that helps at all. If it does not provide new details or error messages and we'll go from there.

    Thank you

  • New HP cartridges give "exhausted ink cartridges" error

I replaced the Starter cartridges in my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 with new HP cartridges, but the printer gives me an error "of ink cartridges run out" and won't let me print anything.  I tried one of the colors replacing with 2 different new cartridges and get the same error.

Thanks for the tips.  I tried the reset and button-pushing without result.  I had to order a new cartridge, even if mine was still full.  A new worked perfectly well.  Because I was using a genuine HP cartridge, I managed to return and it was replaced with a new one.  So, I'm back in business, even if I lost a few days of waiting for a new cartridge.

    Thank you.

I just installed a new black ink cartridge in my J4680.

I had not touched the Tricolor cartridge.

Now when I open the HP Solution Center software, I get an error message that

the Tricolor cartridge is not compatible.

However, the printer will print in color.

Also, I was able to print an alignment page, but does not have the automatic alignment feature

We will reset the printer.  Turn the printer off, press and hold # and 6 keys while turning on the printer.

  • Align the PSC 750 printer ink cartridge error message.

I just replaced only the black cartridge in my printer PSC 750.  (Will replace the color cartridge later as my money allows.) The printer is connected to my laptop, MacBookPro, under OS X, version 10.6 operating system.  After replacing the cartridge, I ran a self-evaluation report.  It seemed to run correctly.  No color cartridge only test model because there is no ink in the cartridge.  Then I ran the process to align the print cartridge which gives an error on the printer.  It displays "error: Align page not detected" when I clearly placed the page alignment on the scanner glass.  Tried this process several times and each time I get this error message.

Could it happen because I have not yet replaced the color cartridge?  If not, then what?

Alignment requires the black and cyan (or was it yellow on this model?) part of the color cartridge to print for correct alignment.  If you have an old copy of the alignment page you can use it, although the alignment would be suboptimal.

Soak the printhead of the cartridge 78 in 1 "hot water for ten minutes and then gently the printhead from drying and put it back in the printer may allow enough ink complete the alignment page.

  • Photosmart HP 5510 - ink cartridge error message

I replaced all four cartridges (used HP replacements) but for some reason any Cyan shows a problem.  I contacted the seller of the ink and returned the cartridge for a new thought, I had a faulty cartridge, today a new arrival and on install the same message appears.  I tried everything I can think of this problem. The really weird thing is that if you replace the complete new cartridge with the old, virtually empty, the message disappears, where the reason why I thought that the problem was a faulty cartridge.  I can't have two defective cartridges so what to do now?

    Help, please

  • HP C5280 has an ink cartridge error and says refer to printer documentation.

My HP C5280 printer just printing to quit smoking and the above error message.  I have always used HP cartridges.  Black is 74XL with expiration 2014-01-14, and the color is a 75XL expires 31/05/2012.

Is the problem because the color cartridge is expired or is there another question?

Yes, I would venture to say that it is the cause of the error message. However, to make sure try this:

Remove the expired cartridge. Now with the power still on, remove the power at the rear of the printer. Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug the power cord into the printer. Turn on the printer. Replace the cartridge and see if the message clears. If this isn't the case, then this is the cartridge.

  • I have an ink cartridge error with my HP PSC 1315 all in one.

Although the inklevel should suffice only the HP 57 watch color cartridge so, where as the HP 56 b & w only. I discovered that the date on both cartridges have already been exceeded. Read on the internet that in this case the printer will be automatically blocked. Replace both cartridges by news will not change the situation. So in fact, the printer is ready for the junkshop and buy a new printer, the only solution. Is it TRUE...! ??

    Hello

If expired cartridges are in the printer, the printer will not be blocked but error message\light will appear to replace the cartridge.

If the expired cartridges are replaced with new ones, the problem should be solved.

Hi @Furbio and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble for your C510 to print in black, but I will certainly do my best to give a helping hand

Because you mentioned that you have questions, open links of the forums, I'll have everything written here in my post, so I apologize in advance for how long this post can get!

First of all, I would like you to clean the contacts on each cartridge by following the steps below taken from the document a "incompatible cartridge" or "not compatible ink cartridges" Error Message on the computer or the all-in-onefor your printer. "

Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts of the cartridge.
    1. gather the following items:
    Clean cotton pads
Paper clean and lint to rest the cartridges on (coffee filters work well)
    2. press the power button to turn on the printer.
    3. open the cartridge access door. Lift the corner front right of the printer until it locks on the door in the full open position. Wait until the print carriage to move toward the center of the printer.
    4. press the tab on the front of the cartridge to release it, then pull it up and out to remove it from its housing.
5 hold the cartridge by its sides with the nozzle facing up.
6 locate the electrical contacts on the bottom of the cartridge. The electrical contacts are four small rectangles of copper metal.

7 wipe the electrical contacts with a q-tip clean and dry until no debris remains on them. Make sure that no ink or debris from the smear on the transparent window next to the electrical contacts.
    8. place the cartridge on the clean and lint paper with the nozzle upward.
9 locate the electrical contacts inside the carriage. Electrical contacts are similar to a set of four copper color placed pins to touch the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
    10. clean the electrical contacts inside the car with a clean, dry cotton swab, second.
    * Please do for each cartridge, just to be complete
11 drag each cartridge into the slot that is appropriate until it snaps. Make sure that you insert each cartridge into the slot with the corresponding color icon.
    12. close the cartridge access door.

After completing these steps cleaning cartridge, if the problem still persists, I would like to manually clean the electrical contacts on your print head (the part the cartridges sit in inside of). These measures were taken from the replacement print head for your printer paper (with a few changes to make things more clear ).

Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts on the print head and inside the printer.
    1. press the power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already selected.
    2. open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the center of the printer. Wait that the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.
    3. to remove the cartridges, press the tab on the front of the cartridge, and then pull it upwards to remove it from its housing. Do this for each cartridge.
    4. to remove the print head, lift the locking on the carriage to the stop handle.

    5. place the print head on its side on lint cloth or absorbent paper and use a fluffy and filtered/distilled water to clean the electrical contacts inside the printer as shown below.

6 proceed to clean the electrical contacts of the print head as well using the same materials. Just be careful not to touch the contacts with your fingers.

    7. once everything is dry (try not to let the printhead out for more than 10 minutes if possible) please proceed to reinsert the printhead to the printer and gently drop the locking handle to fix it up before you reinsert the cartridges and close the printer.

When the printer is finished it is maintenance, try to print a report to see if the black is printing printer or if something has changed with the next steps in the document printing to a printer status report for your printer.

    1. In the home screen on the product control panel, press Menu () in the upper left corner. A list of menu options screens.

  • Electric pen failed on the HP Deskjet F4210 AIO printer

    Hello world!

I'm new here; I come with the hope of finding help here, which is not possible to find on the official web page of HP.

A month ago I bought the original HP cartridges 300 XL Black and 300 Canadiens XL. After you install the printer HP Deskjet F4210 all in one started blinking light at tricolor cartridge and the printer does not work. HP Solution Center shows the message - electric pen failed print cartridge error. Depending on the reason for troubleshooting can be bad cartridge also.

Unfortunately I can not communicate with HP support by mail, there is no possibility to pass, even though I bought my printer last year, according to the rules of the EU it is guaranteed 2 years, it can also be fault on the origin, but HP print cartridge ignore all these fact and it is informative, that according to their data is my printer out of warranty and there is no possibility of mail to HP technical support , or contact HP support on any other way. I am therefore very disappointed with HP's attitude to their customers...

Then I would ask for help, if this is someone who can tell me, if this failure report " electric pen failed" means default on the printer or the print cartridge?

Thanks to all who have answers

You can contact HP as shown here. Generally, the failure you describe would be the cartridge, or the electrical connections between the contacts of the cartridge and printer.  You can check the warranty of the cartridge as shown here.  Try cleaning the contacts of the cartridge as shown here.
