  • Best way to insert the degree symbol?

    Hello

I have a form of inspection put in place for the health/restaurant inspectors.    Often during an inspection, they need get food temperatures and want to use the degree symbol.    They run this form on a tablet pc convertible, so a normal keyboard is not available for them in tablet mode and in laptop mode using the combination ALT + 0176 is always a PITA bread, because the keyboard doesn't have a full numeric keypad and people using this form are not the most computer people there in order to activate the endable keys function keys , then enter an ASCII code several times during an inspection.

I was looking for a suggestion on how to inforporate something in the form in order to get the degree symbol into any text field, they run in the position of the cursor.

The idea, I look for are:

1.) command A button that inserts the symbol, but I'm afraid that by clicking on the button would lose focus of the destination field and it would be necessary to have a lot of scripts to remember which field was the last that they were to put it in the right pair.

2.) event button or on the charge that inserts somehow the degree symbol to the Clipboard in Windows, but during an inspection, they can copy and paste something else so it compensation to.

(3.) a kind of auto-remplacer text.  Not sure if this is possible in a form of adobe.  For example if they type 'deg' have the auto form replace it at "°".

(4.) a special key press.  Not sure if Adobe can tell a special sequence of keys not used by Adobe and Windows, CTRL + D, hurry once insert a degree symbol in the current location.

5.) kind of place a special icon on the toolbar of Adobe to insert the degree symbol in the place currently?

Those who have some ideas that I think.  Many are probably dead ends.   If you have had this problem, how will you address it?

    Thank you!

    -Mike

I ended up using a simple replacement that I was mentining in my previous post, as to the types of inspectors "blah blah blah at 51 deg blah blah blah" and then leaves the field, FormCalc will replace the "deg" with "° F" so that the text now reads "blah blah blah blah blah blag from 51 ° F".

I just need to train my inspectors to type "deg" exactly to have already it automatically.

Replace "deg" by "° F" when the user leaves the field.

    $.rawValue = replace ($.rawValue "deg", "° F")

  • Insert symbol 9 Captivate does not

I am trying to insert the copyright symbol into a line of text.  When I click on the button to insert symbol, the computer seems to freeze.  Nothing happens, the box will not open and I can't click on anything else.  When I click Esc I can't go to work in the course...

Any ideas?  I used captivate on and off the years and this is a first for me.

Did you upgrade from an earlier version or install the patch for version 9.0.2? In this case, could you clean up preferences and delete the Layouts folder in public documents while Captivate is closed, if you have not done before installing the patch/version?

I missed the part about ESC to your original question, sorry. Shank pointed out what could be another cause of your problems.

  • How to insert symbols in comp cc on iPad pro?

I'm playing with Adobe Comp CC, I'm trying to insert a copyright symbol, but it won't allow me. The symbol is there as an option on the keyboard, I just needed to add some text to activate the keyboard, then press the smiley in the lower-left, but there is no way to get the symbol to insert a help much appreciated.

I tried the experiment, but it is currently not possible in Comp CC.

It is not even allow the use of an Emoji keyboard characters. I found a useful free application called Unicode Pad free. It allows you to select Unicode characters groups. You can copy a character to the Clipboard as a trademark. Works in built-in as mail apps. Don't knit up in CC Comp.

I think that this should be allowed, but in the meantime, you will have to add that in InDesign or Illustrator.

  • Keyboard lost Sterling symbol! __

I recently had to reinstall Vista after a big problem.  Everything's fine now except that the keyboard is more a symbol of Sterling available and the @ and "have changed places.  I inserted the sterling symbol of symbols to work on the 'control' and '2', which is the right word, but it will not work on Excel or Hotmail.  Why the keys changed after reinstalling, and how can I fix this?

    Thank you very much

You are installing from another version or a version of Vista?  It is maybe you have the wrong keyboard. Go to start / Control Panel / regional and Language Options / keyboards and languages / keyboards change / make sure that the selection is correct for your location (and it includes the option of keyboard).  If this is not the case, check to see if your location is added.  If not, then add your location and do not forget to select the keyboard can change the default location to your location and click OK.  The keyboard should now work as expected (if I do not understand the @ and "switch in any language).  If this does not work, read on.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get the drivers (and you shouldget the drivers, firmware or software at the keyboard and everything you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows:http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.  Install the firmware and/or software by following the instructions.

I hope this helps.  Keep me in the loop.

    Good luck!

In the 10 elements, if your on a windows machine and when you use the text tool, you can press the hotkey Alt + 0169 on the numeric keypad to insert a copyright symbol.

On a mac, I think that it would be Option + G

There is also a copyright symbol in custom forms > predefined symbols

AFAIK PES 11 is the same.

  • Inserting Image mystery using the attribute in the structured element

I work in FM10 on Windows XP Pro. However, the models at the company where I am currently Contracting have been developed over the years, since the FM 7 or 8, with different authors and developers to refine their. Which makes them difficult to decipher at times.

Currently, I'm trying to understand how elements of the notes works so I can fix it to work when you bind the FM source files to RoboHelp. When you click on the 'Note' parent element, you can choose from four different attributes (as shown below for ESD): note, tip, caution and warning.

When you choose one of these attributes, it automatically inserts a graphic symbol (exclamation point, star, pencil, etc.). You then choose the next child element that creates a paragraph directly to the right of the graphic symbol.

The problem is, I can't understand where this chart comes in the parent element and associated attributes. I thought it must be extracted from the style of paragraph, either as an image of the reference page and or symbols of the numbering of the paragraph Designer section. But I'm not either of those things anywhere. For what it's worth, the graphics look like they come from a police (see screenshot).

The word "note" comes to the next child element and the associated paragraph style, it is designated in the numbering/AutoNumber Format: box with an associated font. The lines above and below it are similarly advanced/Frame Above / Below the FMP: setting. All this is quite easy; the attribute image... not so much.

Can anyone tell me please where to hunt for the source of this image attribute insertion?

    Hi Douglas,.

I think I thought about it, although I can't prove it, but my inability to prove it is maybe the evidence itself. I know this is no logic, so please read on...

In summary, I think that the images are caused by prefixes text inserted by ESD for the element, using the Zapfdingbats font.

To review/summarize the structural architecture, your notes are made up of

    ... etc.

... Where he is the element which is containing the image and the , etc. items that contain the text of the note.

My first idea was that when I open your file, I do not see the images; However, instead of one of the pictures missing, I get a message of missing fonts (and I have no Zapfdingbats). Here are the rules of prefix for the element (rough paste):

There are a whole bunch of prefixes text in there, but most use the Zapfdingbats font. This font is just a bunch of small icons as pencil your screenshot shows the image. For example, the line:

    Prefix: \t/

.. .will be insert a tab, then a slash in Zapfdingbats. I bet that if you apply Zapfdingbats to one of you to the paragraphs, and then type a forward slash, you will get one of those pictures you've been see.

The evidence would be to change these characters in the prefix rules and see if the images change. Because I have not the police, I can't do it. But because I can't do, it proves to me that the source is indeed the police and the prefix characters. Make sense now?

  • How to add a symbol of TDM (from TDM fonts) to a textfield.

I have created a form for the Engineering Department. End users must be able to insert a TDM symbol in a sentence of textfield. The sentence uses a standard font (Myriad Pro), but the symbol of the TDM uses TDM police. Is there a script I could join a CheckBox which when checked, allow the user to enter a symbol of police TDM, but that would not change the font on the text that has been entered? Then after the symbol of the TDM has been entered, the user should return to the new standard font to continue the sentence.

Thanks for any help you can provide me.

    -Don

Make sure that the field in question is configured as a rich text field. Now, when the user fills out the field that they can hit the combination Ctrl-E and the text field properties toolbar will appear. This will allow the user to change the fonts or add styles to the text in the TextField. They can change after the fact if they wish.

I find it easier to put all text in (using a font). Then put the curosr where you want the GDT symbol appears, press Ctrl-E and change the font, then add the symbol you want. Do not do this so it's just the way I'd do it

    .

    Hope that helps
