Install external DVD burner on NB200

Hello
It is a first post of time following the purchase of a NB200 using OS WinXP installed standard. With the NB200, I also bought a LG GP08LU10 "External Super Multi DVD Rewriter". When I plug the DVD climb in the NB200 it powers and the NB200 recognizes hardware such as a CD-ROM drive. However, it is disabled. The Assistant added of Harware WinXP running causes the message "this device is disabled (Code 22)".

A check of the CD that came with the DVD reveals that there are no drivers on the CD only DVD burning and playback software.

I plugged the DVD player on my laptop Lenovo that is also running Windows XP and unity "plugged and played" as you would expect.

A search on the web based on product LG GP08 ID creates very little success with one or two it seems to describe similar symptoms, but not solutions. More talk about the installation of a driver, but I was not able to locate a driver on the LG site (or as I said, on the product CD).

The DVD player comes with a 'standard' USB cable and a USB power cable. Each single cable and two cables with the NB200 plugged into the power supply and it still is not plug and play.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Kind regards
TESA

Hello

According to the Microsoft page, 22 error means that the device is either disabled or not started. Eventually he hasn t started in your case.

There are several proposals for solution.
One of them told you he must remove the Device Manager and reboot the laptop.
After that new reboot of the operating system should recognize the DVD drive connected again.

On the other hand, you could try to remove all USB hubs and controllers from the list of devices USB and should restart the laptop again.
This help to refresh the USB drivers.

I not quite sure if deleting upper and lower filters change anything but maybe what it s worth m to try.
Start the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After that, restart the laptop and check the functionality of DVD USB drive s.

Don't burn your DVDs from iDVD. Instead, use iDVD to create an image file and then burn the image file using the disc utilities. Utility disk will be out and find all your drives connected and it should see externally, (he does with us).

  • What external DVD burner would work with Toshiba LX830?

Try connecting an external DVD burner for Toshiba LX830 via USB.
Nothing won't work - I've tried 3 writers and different software.

Is it important that all writers are USB 2.0 and the 830 is USB 3.0?
The best I have is 3%, then it's just sitting there.

Can anyone recommend an external recorder that will work with the 830?

    Hello

Have you tried to connect this external hard drive to CD/DVD to all available USB ports?

As far as I know the Toshiba LX830 all in a computer supports 6 USB ports and two USB ports support high-speed USB 3.0 standard.

So, even if the external USB ODD (optical disc) would not support USB 3.0, it should work in 4 other ports USB 2.0

  • How to create a DVD with DVD Studio Pro and an external DVD burner?

    Hello

I am trying to create a DVD with DVD Studio Pro. My internal DVD drive no longer works. I have an external DVD burner - slim portable DVD writer. I create the project into DVD Studio Pro, and when in the program, it works fine when I "stimulate". Well, I can't burn it.  When I look for the external DVD writer in my finder, it is not and I don't know how or where to select the option so it is programmed to burn the external DVD writer. Any advice? Thank you have a great week.

I found a thread that has addressed this issue, but does not help me to solve my problem. Meg the dog was told this to her in question written by Scott Stark. I tried his solution of generation and format, but after pressing the burn a window appears saying "insert disc please insert acceptable DVD recordable media."  I tried to use another blank DVD, it did not help. I use Word for Word, I heard that those who are the best blank DVDs, you can buy. Thanks again for your time!

  • External DVD burner

It was after that I posted on Feb11.  I have a new Samsung slim DVD external writer that works perfectly in a computer on a desktop with Windows 7 and XP, Vista.  But it does not work on my X 200 tablet with Windows 7 or X 200 identical a friend of pellets.  Samsung says that their author is compatible Windows 7. Lenovo said their USB ports are fine, and I think that the two carmakers since my USB ports check out on Lenovo diagnostics and my tablet will run an external drive. I went into Device Manager. changed settings that allow the computer to disable the USB ports to save energy and have tested each USB hub - everything is fine, but the DVD recorder, although it will load the videos and photos, will run slowly and evil.  Any ideas?

    X 200 tablet with Windows7 professional 32-bit 7448CTO

I found the solution and I am convinced of this.  It is NOT a problem of Lenovo.

It turns out that consulting the Task Manager when the external DVD burner drive was plugged in and does not, there was also a .exe program to my external hard drive I plug for backup intermittently.  Close this program in repeatable tasks Manager allows my DVD burner work properly.

    Hope this helps others.

Try to remove the PXHelp20 entry which is probably invalid.

To remove the PXHelp20 entry double-click LowerFilters and, under value data, delete PXHelp20 > OK

Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

    Hello Dario

Well, first of all, you must check the BIOS settings. As far as I know the configuration of the device must be set to the OS installer.
Then it s advisable to reinstall the operating system. In this case, you must use the CD recovery or the original version of Microsoft Windows. All the necessary drivers, which you can download from the Toshiba site

  • How is iTunes on an X220i act with an external DVD burner

I have a Lenovo X220i and that you just bought a Lenovo Slim USB Portable DVD Burner, who has not yet arrived. Now I wonder how iTunes will react when I attach the external DVD writer. ITunes will be able to read CDs normally and to burn CDs as it would with a built-in DVD burner?

I also posted this question on Apple Support communities.

    Hello

I don't use Apple's iTunes software, but can not imagine there is no problem.  ITunes software connect to the drive somehow, as far as I know.

The power is fine the player works on the other PC. We tried other readers on this PC and still does not work.
I'm no expert, but my IT dept at work tried to explain that the driver is corrupted but part of the operating system. Not possible to update or reinstall.
I called John Lewis. Immediately, they says no problem. We will swap it for a new.

  • "Stop error" suspected to cause driver corrupted for user installed DVD burner.

I get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death) everytime I go out with my Philips DVD burner. Under XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400. Installed this writer a couple of years ago and have used it without any problems, however started getting this error about 6 months ago. MS produced a report when I rebooted after the last incident - "you received this message because a device installed on your Windows computer driver stop unexpectedly." This type of error is referred to as a "stop error" that requires you to restart your computer. "I followed all the steps described in this report to address the cause of the erroor. However, one of the steps refers to "Uninstalling the driver", but it is a step of manned by menu windows which seems to me that it's not really uninstall the driver - it's just a procedure they wrote such fact, it (start - control panel - display categories - Perf. & Maint - system - hardware - device Mgr - disabling/uninstalling). After you follow these steps, you get a message from re - install the device by clicking on a box. In my view, the same driver is used. It is corrupt nothing has changed and I will continue to get this error. I would like to know where the real driver is located so I can delete it and then go online to download a new driver. However, because my o/s came pre-installed by Dell, MS isn't going to help (unless I pay for the help) and Dell won't help because they didn't install the unit and the Philips site is useless in trying to get technical information as to where their driver is on my hard drive. I checked Event Viewer - System Log and found 'Source = system error category' and the real codes of 4 parameters (addresses memory I think) [that MS would only be able to interpret] for this date and time. I might have to go the route of 'pay' people with MS, but before doing that I would try to fix it myself. Dell site will not download the driver that already exists on my HD and is the latest version. Tools Dell system does not include this unit in its analysis of material either. So - I hope that someone will be quite kind to give me any suggestions where to find this particular driver - I can't find anything that looks like a pilot in the Philips records. Thanks for any help offered too!
