I am interested to install Linux on my PC HP H8 - 1414.  I am able to complete the installation, but after the reboot, no operating system is found.

I support start-up inherited and have tried the HDD in RAID and IDE.

Any suggestions?

You can miss a grub or bootloader.  See it here on the Linux installation

Of course, you can install Linux on the Toshiba laptop.
BUT you won't find any driver Toshiba or tools for the Linux operating system.

Toshiba does not support official Linux and that's why the pilots are not released.
You will need to use the Linux drivers from chipmaker like Intel IE

A hint; I use the Knoppix Live CD I n t need to install anything. I boot from this CD and the functional complete using Linux ca ;)

  • x 360: delete the recovery partition after installing Linux

    Hello

My x 360 laptop with 10 Windows works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The scores are as below. E, F, G partitions are Linux.

    I have these questions please:

    1. is the recovery partition (D) no longer, now that I have partitioned the disk? (I did a recovery USB flash drive when I bought the computer)

    2. is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?

    3. There is also a small partition of 980 MB. What is c? Is it safe to remove?

    Thank you

    YCC

Sorry, no.  You can not recover by using the HP Recovery partition after you change the partitioning scheme.

As it is now, you might as well delete it.

It will not hurt to remove it now because the HP Recovery works doesn'y work in any case.

I know Macrium Reflect can backup and restore Windows and Linux distros because I have tried it, myself.

    Good luck

  • Cannot start with the CD after trying to install Linux

    Hello!

There is a very bad problem with my satellite 2450 s203 :( I have windows xp and then I decided to install Linux. I formatted all hard, but there were some problems with installing Linux (defective disc) and I had to reboot laptop. But then I have the Toshiba logo, there are the following: F1 Linux

But after pressing F1, nothing happens! :( Also I can not boot from my cd, even after changing the boot options in the BIOS! I can boot from the diskette. I tried discs from Microsoft for win98 startup disk, back 6.22, win xp sp1 & sp2 - but there were errors in these diskettes. (E.g. *.exe not found, but there is an archive *.) Ex_ and there is in this archive file capable of need. "But he does not see System!).

So, how can I now install an operating system on my laptop? If I have managed to install the cd drivers I think that the problem will be offered...
I am waiting for your reply, yours sincerely, X-Fau1t.

    Hello

It's very strange that you can not use the bootable CD. Please try to use recovery media delivered. When you turn on the device, please press the C button and keep it down for a few seconds. Normally on this way the device CD/DVD should be the first to start the procedure.

  • How can I install Linux (Ubuntu or Kubuntu) and Windows on the same HARD drive?

    Hello world

I have Toshiba L20-148 and I have the Toshiba product recovery DVD and I have the DVD Ubuntu

I'm only able to install Linux or Windows XP Pro I have with the recovery DVD

and the only way I know to install both together by installing linux and windows... but every time I try to install windows, then factory data recovery, it is just the whole HARD disk and install windows only...

    any help?

    Hello

As mentioned that the Toshiba Recovery CD contains image and files during the installation of the OS on the HARD drive or the partition will be formatted. In this case all data will be deleted.
Therefore, you must create a second partition for the use of Linux. But be careful. Linux uses the special file format. Partition Magic 8 contains and supported the creation of the Linux partitions.

So if the new partition has been created, you can install the Linux

    Hello

You can install Linux without losing the warranty. Toshiba doesn't support Linux on this laptop, but you can install it of course.

If you want to do a dual boot with Vista and that you are interested in a version of Ubuntu, you should take a look at the Wubi:
    http://wubi-Installer.org/
It is a sure way to install Ubuntu on laptop with Vista installed.

    Check it!

  • Can I install Ubuntu in the U940-sp4103gl Satellite SSD?

Please help me as soon as possible.
    Here are my questions:
Can I install ubuntu in the ssd from Toshiba u940-sp4103gl?

    How to do this?

It's urgent, I will appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I put t see no reason why you shouldn't be able to install Linux.
You would need to make some change in the BIOS of the U940 satellite.
    (1) disable secure boot
    (2) pass the CSM UEFI

Now all that, you should be able to boot from the disk or USB memory stick.

To be honest I didn't install Linux on my laptop with Vista and XP.
Sometimes, I use Linux Live distribution called Koppix, and I m satisfied!

The devices have been recognized, and most of the drivers were included.

Maybe it s an option for you too

But Ubuntu might also be interesting for you.
