  I don't know if it's a good idea to install Win2000 on Qosmio G10 Toshiba provides the drivers and other software only for XP. But perhaps XP drivers also work with 2000.

  Besides why do you think that Win2000 is better than XP? In my experience, XP has the same characteristics as 2000.

• Qosmio G10-137: blue screen after re-install using Recovery CD

  Hi all

  just got my qosmio G10-137 earlier this week after being under repair since the beginning of the month of January! Guys made the repair found no better then install the Dutch version of the operating system. I don't like this, then I took out my recovery CD and began the recovery. Everything works fine and I am asked to remove the media and reboot my PC.

  This beautiful laptop to start early and... Blue screen of death. Restarts, wonder how to restart... count up to normal reboot... BSOD... restarts, wonder how... I choose "Safe Mode"... BSOD... I choose the mode safe mode with prompt... the system.ini file is missing!

  It seems that the recovery CD is bogus.

  If someone has encountered this? Does anyone have any resolution?

  It s very strange because the recovery CD was tested and install several times. It should work without any problems.
  I put t know where you come from, but the service partner should install the Windows operating system in the same language. In this case, if you bought the device in Dutch the recovery CD and the OS are in the Dutch language.
  Please note that you must use the same recovery CD that came with the device. Another recovery CD will not work.
  What you can do is to test the unit with an original CD of Microsoft Windows. It would be very interesting to know if the blue screen appears with the original Windows.

  As far as I know the HARD disk (by Qosmio G10 first HARD drive) at least 100 MB of free space must be available. This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated. Can you please try again but this time on the first HARD disk?

  Partition magic is the ideal program to prepare the HARD disk for Qosmio player installation. Please let us know if there is some success.

  You have installed the Windows operating system on the new HARD drive by using the recovery disk. Right?
  Well, the recovery procedure has completed correctly? The operating system has been successfully installed?

  Did repeat the installation of the OS?
  If this is not the case, repeat!

  I have a Qosmio G10 a few years back, within the first year of its use the graphics seemed to go crazy after using it for games.
  Since then, I've left the but recently I dug to see if I can get it fixed it as my partner needs.

  1. whenever I start it I have a white screen with sound (I can get the screen each time by pressing F5 (current view).
  2. I tried the system restore cd, but when it finishes I wake a fragmented Windows screen with the beginning bar all over the place, and then it just freezes
  3. However, when I try a professional XP operating system to recover (I found somewhere), it starts up no probs apart from a few blue vertical lines on the screen, starting when I get on the desktop there is no probs although res is set to low and used to move (no graphics driver). Then I tried to load the Qosmio tools & utilities and can support all but the Chipset (that quite fragmented and I have to restart the whole process) and driver nvidia Gforce graphics that I assume will not charge because the chipset?

  I thought it might be a cd of defective recovery but when I changed during a hard drive of new fresh on the wrapper started everthing briefly as it should do this before, he crashed any temptation of power again.

  Pulling my hair out please help!

  Usually the laptop should start correctly after the installation of the recovery CD. If the laptop freezes then a hardware problem is possible.

  In my view, your graphics card could malfunction. I come to the conclusion because the laptop works ok until the graphics driver will be installed. Without graphic driver installed the laptop seems to run I think GPU dysfunction could also be the reason why the laptop does not start correctly after the installation of the recovery CD. The restore CD already contains the graphics driver that controls the graphics card chip

  So in my opinion, you should contact the ASP in your country for a control of the laptop.
  Maybe the technicians could find the fault.

  I am still trying but install and use WinDVD creator I can choose to capture of S-video, Composite video or TV tuner. Maybe it's just that we all waited. You can change the quality settings as well. I looked on the site of Toshiba international and can't find it. In any case I hope this works for you all.   In my opinion that you need not explanation because the update type is clearly indicated. It's just Wireless Lan Client Manager and if you know what that means avoid any problem.

• Qosmio G10: without infrared

  I recently got Qosmio G10. Although the manual says he has an infrared device (not the remote control sensor), I don't see the device in "Device Manager". Therefore, "Wireless link" icon is not available in Control Panel either. I checked the BIOS for an option infrared toggle but no luck there.   My Qosmio G10 have vertical lines on the screen even on monitor external it show the same problems, tried to reformat using the supplied media center disc have the same problem also, system hangs when installing the video driver, try Booting to CD bootable always vertical BACK appear, I hope that the guys at Toshiba can give us a good explanation for this really upset by this problem our company buy 3 this G10 and two of the three have this problem.

  I use a Qosmio G10 for 4 years now. I just got a new motherboard installed 2 months. This morning the display begins to act weird.
  When starting the laptop, windows, start symbol appears almost normal colors, but when the windows desktop is running for 2-3 seconds, the picture becomes bright. The text of the desktop icons is not sharp, and half lower of the screen there is a fine glitter mesh. Although the colors are abnormal on the entire screen: (to be determined with paint)
  -Black is black and white is always white
  -light gray (hue 120, saturation 0, RGB brightness each 192 181) seems normal but dark gray (hue 120, saturation 0, 120, RGB brightness every 128) is represented white.
  -brown (0, 240, 60 128 red brightness saturation hue) and the red light (0, 240, 120 red 255 brightness saturation hue) are represented as the same light red.
  -too dark and clear (yellow, green, turquoise, blue and magenta) are represented as the same color on the screen.
  I look at the picture you see immediately that the colors are not properly represented.
  When the screen is off, and then it shows colors initially normal, but then (after 2-3 seconds) everything becomes brighter and the colors become indistinguishable as described.

  If a 2nd screen is used each colors appear normal.
  I tried the new display driver: no improvement.

  Please give me a diagnosis which component is defect. Do I need a new display or is the new mainbord fault (guarantee).

  Well well, in my opinion it s not useless to anything if you n t have no trouble with you unit. But it s my own opinion and if you want to test some drivers, you can download it.
  As far as I know some older drivers had some differences with the SP2 of Microsoft.
