  • Lenovo Ideapad z565 - how to check and activate the virtual technology (VT) in BIOS

    I tried to use virtualization on my Lenovo Ideapad z565 laptop. The laptop is running only Windows 7 Home premium 64 OEM installed. It's an AMD processor dual core. I tried to get some VMWare images into VMWare workstation running on my laptop. Images VMWare has always seem to crash when you try to start them. I read on various forums that this is probably due to virtualization (VT) 'No' enabled in the BIOS. It's supposed to be set in the "Advanced" section of the BIOS. The problem is that when I check my BIOS (F2), the option of virtualization technology (VT) is not in my BIOS. I have a very limited set of BIOS options. I read that the manufacturers of these machines 'block' the user to access advanced options in the BIOS (for reasons unknown to me). In addition, there is a utility distributed by Microsoft, called the "Hardware Virtualization Detection Tool support" that you can download and run on your computer to check if the hardware support for virtualization (VT) is enabled on your computer. I ran this and it is said that VT 'is' activated on my machine. However, I have seen other users, this tool is known to report false positives... which means it reports that VT is enabled, even if it is not. I have also read that these laptops Lenovo, this hardware virtualization is "off"by default. So I think that's my problem. Material to virtualization is disabled in my BIOS, and I have no way to access to 'permit' or turn it on. Someone out there has any experience with this problem, and how did you work around it? Is there a utility that will allow me to enable hardware virtualization in my BIOS? If so, can you provide me with detailed steps to do this? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

First raid is two disk for the system, the second raid is configured with 6 other data in raid 0 disks.  I went through the raid configuration and the configuration of the life cycle.  They are configured to use the BIOS.

    Any configuration, I've set up install RH does not see disks at all.

    I can't understand why and how to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    cosky

    Cosky,

    With the R720, as well as all other 12th generation servers, the version of RedHat minimum supported is 5.7.

    So the problem is probably due to the pilot in this version is not compatible with the new controller.

  • How to install redhat enterprise 2 disk images 6

    The installation package for Red Hat Enterprise 6 64-bit is available in 2 iso images, one to boot from and the other and most importantly, has the rest of the installation of the files. Start with the boot image is fine, but then he called for the second disc and the question arises. How to direct the process of watching the second iso image to continue the installation?

    Just to be clear, it's an installation disc, that is to say, iso images are on the hard drive.

    Thanks for your help.

    The virtual machine has a CD-ROM drive.  That's what you use to connect the ISO image to the virtual machine to install the operating system.

    I do not know the exact clicks, menus, icons, etc. for the merger... I know that desktop and Player under Windows.  But the tasks remain the same.

  • the expected time to complete an ibwrite.

    I have a question about the "scheduled" to complete a call to ibwrite.

    Here is a code snippet... This code works well but the question I have is regarding the time required to complete the call.

    Synchronization of data below were collected with a HP XW8600-dual NI488.2 installed RedHat (RHEL) 5.1 running. with the NOR-488 driver. 2 2.5 - Linux - Beta 32 Bit with gcc 4.3.3.

    I would be very interested in someone elses performance on Win32/Linux platforms with OR and/or 3rd third-party drivers.

    Code snippet that produces this chronology...

    Note the mIEEE488SpirentGPS.dataToWriteOut variable is a string that is approximately 200 characters in length.

    case IEEE_488_IBWRT:

    Start the timer of Scripture
    StartTimer (2, writeCaseTimerName);   From a timer (0.6us to start/stop)

    write data to GPIB
    If (( State = ibwrt (mIEEE488SpirentGPS.unitDescriptor,
    (char *) mIEEE488SpirentGPS.dataToWriteOut;
    (mIEEE488SpirentGPS.writeCount)) & ERR)
    {
    Place the error message error parameter member & error report to user
    HandleIbwrtError (SPIRENT_GPS_BOARD_IDENTIFIER, status,

    (char *) mIEEE488SpirentGPS.dataToWriteOut;
    fileAndFunctionName,

    (char*) mIEEE488SpirentGPS.errorMessage);
    break;
    }

    stop the timer of Scripture
    StopTimer (2);  / / Stop timer (0.6us to start/stop)

    Here is the timer data reception after the race...

    Note an avg, min, max 38.9ms, 1.4ms and one time 67.6ms (respectively) to complete a call to ibwrite.

    See below for a histogram of time call...

    # data min/avg/max timer to timer (2) #.
    Name of the controller: IEEE_488_B_Local::RealTimeSpirentGPSTask - case of writing
    Average loop time (seconds): 0.038902582920
    Minimum a loop of time (seconds): 0.001380000000
    Maximum time (seconds) a loop: 0.067578000000

    Average rate for power supply of real-time loop: 25,705234 Hz
    Number of loops: 1007
    Error occurred in StartTimer: false
    Error occurred in StartTimer: false

    The histogram data indicate that 999 calls (excluding 1007) took between 10-50 ms and

    8 answered calls between 50-100 ms with the worst case being 67.6ms.

    All of this is consistent however, it is far too slow for the rate of update scheduled to this unit.

    Are these results compatible with other peoples experience/timing on other platforms?

    I need to have a time worse case of 3ms (with margin 1ms) in order to achieve a rate of 250 Hz message. Any comments or suggestions are welcome...

    I should move to scramnet?  This is my only other option for this device.

  • Impossible to install RHEL 6

    Hi all
    I have a Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Ultrabook. I have Windows 7 installed in it. I try to install RHEL 6 alongside windows.
    I've installed RHEL on most older PCs, but this one is new technology with 32 GB SSD + 500 GB HARD drive with the hybrid technology. I couldn't install RedHat.

    The SATA in the BIOS is set to Intel Smart Response Technology (aka RAID). I have about 80 GB unallocated space (as in the picture below: MB free, 82694) and when I try to create partitions (/ boot, / home, /...), then it displays the error message saying "not enough space" and the partition could not be created.

    Previously he also asked to reset the drive, but I clicked on ignore all because I have not saved anything.

    Please help me about the installation.

    Hi TusharKhatiwada,

    Linux does not support configuring mSATA. You will need to disable acceleration of the application of Smart Response technology since the office. Change the SATA operation setting in the BIOS to AHCI and install RHEL 6 on the 500 GB HARD drive.

    Please let me know if you need further information.

    I think there is a problem with your installation of linux, because these places of orders should be in the PATH of the root. Anyway, you can do this:

    1. open a session as root, run "/ usr/bin/updatedb '. It will take some time.
    2. When you want to find something, just type "find something", and the matches will be displayed:

    [oracle@ol6-112-rac1 ~] $ locate system-config-network
    /etc/pam.d/system-config-network

    No, the K1 is not running Windows 8 (in fact, it must be Windows RT, which is specially designed to run on ARM architecture processors).  The problem is that you must have a version of Win RT made just for the K1, with all the appropriate device drivers.  Those who are usually provided by the manufacturer of the device, and in the case of the K1, there is no such package.

    Linux may be more possible, especially since you actually use Linux on it right now (in fact, a Linux kernel, with the top Android ecosystem).  I don't know how well they work, but there are some sources out there for versions of Linux running on Android devices.  Of course, you're pretty much on your own.  For example, see http://linuxonandroid.org
