install SATA m.2 in W541

recently, I bought a sata SSD for laptop Lenovo W541 m.2. But I'm fighting to open the back panel of the laptop to install the sata SSD m.2. could someone please help me - are there any step by step the instructions available on how to opn W541, so that I can install m.2 SATA SSD?

In this regard, any help is highly appreciated.

The m2 slot is behind the small door next to the battery. There is a single screw and keep it closed... do not know what is so difficult about this

    Hello

I'm a little confused about your ad.
As far as I know the Satellite M70-340 has a SATA HDD and it should works with this mode. If you use the Toshiba Recovery CD so the AHCI (Intel SATA AHCI Controller) V5.1.0.1022 should pre-installed with the operating system.
You must also install the Chipset (Intel ICH6M) V7.1.0.1014 first.

  • problem installing sata 2 under Pavilion a6720f

I just bought the new a6720f with Windows Home Premium 64-bit.

I want to transfer a SATA Western Digital 250 GB that I used for the data on an old computer. When I install the drive, it causes the Western Digital sata boot original hard drive started clicking. The old data disc has a sata cable and its design forces me to use a legacy power connection, although there is no power anyway free sata cable.

This disc has data only, and I don't see what I need to change in the BIOS.

Unfortunately, you are right. I reinstalled the drive in the original machine and he died. I could not believe it, but the old drive never survived the transplantation procedure.

    Hello

I tried to follow the steps on the installation of the SATA driver on this link

«"Copy the files on a floppy disk, and then insert the disk on a floppy drive (attached to the laptop).»» »

G550 is not a floppy drive, then how do I install it

    Yours,

    Mohamed

I did not understand what you say, but the "install.cmd" is the thing that do the work which is exactly my point of view and why I said you need to follow the exact steps. Therefore change before BIOS run install.cmd will give you a blue screen and you will not be able to start until you change the BIOS setting in compatibility again mode.

    Download this one instead:

    http://consumersupport.Lenovo.com/OT/en/driversdownloads/drivers_show_1687.html

    1. extract and run "install.cmd".

    2. restart the computer and enter the BIOS before trying to restart Windows

    3. change in AHCI in the BIOS mode

4 Save and exit the BIOS, and then start Windows

    5. enter in Device Manager and choose the Intel SATA controller and select put to update driver. Point to the "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM" file for the driver.

    6. restart again and everything should work in AHCI mode

  • Install SATA hard drive in HP A720n

Hi, I use an old HP Pavilion A720n PC, has an ASUS motherboard. Computer is maybe 7-10 years. Don't ask me why, and I can't give an answer but love to tinker and learn to use older and newer computers. These days, the computer industry is, of course, will (or gone) to the SATA drives. I know little about them. But I see two ports or connectors on the motherboard, 1 is labeled 1 Sata and one is labeled SATA 2 - one is black, one is white. I bought a couple of adapters, but something does not appear here. Readers have 15-pin, then we're about 7 pins, and I see a 4 pin - (small rods, similar to the small connectors used to power of diskettes, etc.) on all of the power from the power supply connections.

I don't know if I need one or two red Connector cables, for SATA and power supply connector or just pin 15 or just pin 7. Can I put several (SATA) hard drive in the computer or limited to one? And the computer will have to change in the bios or any where when I switch to SATA, if I can go. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

  • How install sata ide converter adapter

I have a sata adapter converter ide but whence the son connnect and which wires go where?

    Hi Mr chano

You get the information required for the connection of the adapter in the user manual of the device or you can check out assistance from the manufacturer of the device.

    I hope this helps.

  • Installation of XP using F6 to install driver SATA controllers. which adapter?

This is my first experience with and try to install a fresh copy of XP to a SATA HDD (in a new ThinkPad T60). I got regarding locating and loading the Drivers Intel Matrix Storage Manager installation. But now has four adpaters SCSI to choose from:

How do I know that you choose (I've never started the ThinkPad) or is it important?

PS, I see only an adater (second) seems to be highlighted by default and is one of the two referred to in this description of the Lenovo driver. The other card mentioned does not appear on the list. What are the chances that by default, this is the right one and I could damage anything if I chose, but was not sure it was the right SCSI adapter?

Since my original post I took a chance and proceeded to load the preslected SCSI card, but still deadlocked when installing XP says: Setup did not find any hard drives installed in my computer.

    Any ideas? Thank you

I read and use a number forums regarding a certain number of topics or interests, especially to help myself and thus am especially able to solve the problem I encounter. I do not often post except to help others help me or offer help to others. I don't want to be selfish, but especially there are others out there much more competent than me who are willing to and troubleshoot.

In this case however, I thought and turned to this Lenovo community forum was the most appropriate for the first time and even contacted Lenovo telephone assistance for an answer to my problem.

I don't want to seem ungrateful, but Lenovo Technical Support, nor anyone navigating this forum offered no help in what I just accidentally discovered is a simple solution to a simple problem. And it's like desricbed, only four adapters are displayed when the method F6 during installation of XP to install SATA driver controllers, which none worked or put in correspondence adapter described in the support page this driver Lenovo or Lenovo support this page describes how to install Windows XP for T60 and T60p ThinkPads.

Unbelieveablely support Lenovo nor anyone browsing these forums has been able to tell me, it's that Microsoft in the XP installation does not indicate that additional adapters can be found (hidden) simply using up or down keys to scroll. Once I did that I saw the card that I had to choose, continue and have windows 'See' the SATA hard drive.

So there you have it for technical support from Lenovo or anyone who could not install XP on a ThinkPad T60 using and following the Instructions and Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver and instead, was first to enter the BIOS. CONFIG and change the value for SATA of DCIS of compatibility to install the drivers and then subsequently modify the BIOS again:

  • PE R510 of the SAS addition to the installed system with SATA drives

    Hello

We have a server PE510 that came with 2 drives 2 TB SATA 7.2 k and a Controller PERC SAS 6/iR.   The servers of the machine as a SQL server (its original purpose) and later on, a busy file server.  The file server role was not originally intended for this machine.  What we are seeing is very bad I/O bottleneck during daily use, although only about a dozen people access to this server.   (I got the system extracted by pressing more than once).

I wonder if replace drives with SAS will help solve this problem.  There are 6 empty bays on the system.

Would I be able to add 3-6 SAS disks to this system (in addition to the installed SATA disks), in order to create a new RAID volume and move the files to it on SATA volumes?   The existing SATA drives are in a RAID1 volume.

    Thank you

    Thank you

I wonder if replace drives with SAS will help solve this problem.  There are 6 empty bays on the system.

Replacement by SAS will probably help, but your bottleneck is your controller, not your type of disc.  There is no easy way to migrate a Windows installation of a SAS 6/iR to a PERC 6 / i, but if you were to move the PERC, you will see a substantial improvement.  The other problem is that, because you can not mix SAS and SATA disks in a virtual disk, you would have to do a backup/restore for the SAS VD (you would not be able to rebuild a SAS drive in the existing table to replace one at a time).

Yes, you can add the SAS drives for the system and more SATA drives.  Note, however, that 1) the SAS 6/iR controller only supports 2 virtual drives, while a VD can be added, and 2) the SAS 6/iR controller only supports RAID 0 and 1, would be so the only way to add disks "3-6" in a RAID 0, which leaves your data at extreme risk.

  • Impossible to install Win7 on ENVY 15 t-j000

    I recently bought a HP ENVY 15 t QUAD - E4T17AV

It comes with Win8 and I honestly can't stand it. Trying to reinstall with Win7, I am unable to find discs to install to. I searched the devmgr win8 to get information about the SATA controller and chipset. I downloaded the drivers and when you attempt to add during the Win7 it found the drivers that are compatible with my system, but when I try to install I get the error ' no new devices not could be found.

I enabled legacy startup options, disabled secure boot, changed the boot order, all that good stuff.

I tried to install SATA drives both mSATA connected, that only have one or the other and receive the same error each time. I used several different drivers of HP and Intel, and all receive the same error.

I read the other messages from people who say that they install Win7 on their 15 t, it must be possible.

    What Miss me?

    Thank you.

Had the same problem... figured it out... it was not a Sata Contorller driver problem at all.

    1. turn off Secure Boot, active herit.

    2. turn the USB 3.0 BIOS to act as AUTO setting so that the operating system facilities to qualify ports USB 2.0 compatible

3 HD partition scheme had to be reset... don't know what it was.  Hooked to my Mac and under parition, set it to 1 Partition and chose the MBR as the partition table layout scheme.

Hope this helps, but still the problem with the graphics drivers from Nvidia and Intel Chipset drivers

  • How to install Win XP on my laptop

I bought a satellite laptop that came with Vista installed and a few records to the 'dismantling' to XP I have if desired.

I find Vista to be an absolute dog of a product, so I inserted my XP disc and waited.
Finally, there's no autorun on the CD file and no obvious choice of a file to run at all.

Can someone explain how to return my laptop to the XP operating system?

First, it would really help to know what laptop you have.
Secondly I m wondering if you have read some threads here in the forum about the installation of Win XP before you packed this announcement

I'm not quite sure what the problem could be but I m have a hypothesis.

It possible s you didn t start from the Win XP disc. You said that you have some tiles it and WAITED
The disc must be inserted and the laptop must be OFF.
Then turn on the computer laptop and boot from the bootable disk

The other possibility would be that you didn't install SATA drivers (which are necessary for all cell phones recent) and therefore the Win XP does not recognize the HARD drive and cannot go through the complete installation program.

I recommend checking and reading some markets here in the forum about the SATA driver and Storage Manager Intel.

  • I want to install Win XP on Satellite A305-S6905

    Hello.

I want to downgrade my Vista to XP because of problems and slow down my PC...
For example I can't download updates antivirus, games etc...

I read in the forum that I need some kind of sata drivers and those I can do myself, but someone can help me with other drivers because I use this laptop for an hour and I know not what drivers there need.

If someone could give me links to the necessary software, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that you couldn't find the right drivers XP because you didn t find on the right-hand page.
Like you probably n t know that this series of laptop (Satellite A305) belongs to Toshiba from US and you have to find good drivers on Toshiba U.S. page!
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/TD/B2C/home.to

In addition, if you want to install Win XP on laptop thin, you will need to install the SATA drivers first.
The SATA drivers are on Intel Storage Manager part which can be downloaded from the Intel and Toshiba page page as well.

But if you don t want to install SATA drivers, there is another possibility to install the XP.
Just access the BIOS and set the compatible SATA to AHCI mode.

    That s it.

  • Re: Satellite L300 - how to reinstall the SATA drivers?

    Hi all

I have a L300 I downgraded to XP. It runs with the SATA controller in compatibility mode and are sent here a lot, it's slow.

I read you need drivers intel for her and so I downloaded the and down them and had an error "your computer does not minimum requirements.

Tried in both safe mode and got the same error.

Now I could try to use nlite and I've used it before, but the file I have is an executable and not an inf and files related to a driver, so I don't know how to add it to nlite. I'd rather do not re - load again if possible.

So the simple question is how I install the AHCI SATA drivers so I don't have to run in compatibility mode.

    Thank you

    Mick

    Hello

I think that you should use the forum search. You will find the sufficient number of threads how to install SATA drivers

  • Cannot install Windows XP as a second OS on the Satellite L305-S5926

Just got a Satellite L305-S5926 (a series SATA drive), I want to add a Windows XP partition (first choice) or convert them into a single Windows XP system (second choice).

First of all, I did shrink a partition using Disk Manager in Vista to release about 73 GB of disk space for use by the Win XP partition. Then with the BIOS setting for the Sata Interface AHCI (default) value, I rebooted for Win XP installation CD and had a blue screen of death (BSD) with a Stop error after you load all the drivers and tried to start XP.

I then created a floppy disk with the drivers of Toshiba Sata Raid/AHCI and restarted the installation of Win XP CD using F6 to install Sata drivers. Always had the BSD. Restarted and went into the BIOS and changed the setting of the Interface Sata to compatibility and then restarted in the Win XP installation CD.

Use both the F6 option or not the F6 option, the progresses installation more than before in the start-up phase to the place where you get to choose the partition where you want to install XP.

At this point the only partition is to see the partition C: Vista living in. It is not the 73 GB of free space I created by reducing the Vista partition at the beginning. The results are the same, they are, under Vista, I leave the space as free space or if I format it, it does not appear as a place to install XP

At this time I have not yet tried the cleaning disc entirely and install XP first then by installing Vista only because I'm still waiting for a Toshiba Recovery disk before proceeding with this approach.

Any idea what I can do to create the second partition with XP? Anyone tried install XP on this model as the primary OS and if so how did you do?

    Thank you
    Joe
