Install Service Pack 3

When you install Service Pack 3, on one of our computers he hangs up trying to intall ' BEETHOV9. WMA "and the only option is to cancel the intall.

Doneast56,
In case you haven't looked through the PA bear search results, here is a summary.  It is clear from many of the children visited the normal solution is to change the permissions for the folder documents (you can see all of the Users\SharedDocuments).  Change permissions to full control for all the world, and then try to install SP3. • XP - cannot install Service Pack 2 and 3 in order to install anti-virus protection.

I need to install Service Pack 2 and 3, in order to install a virus program.  I currently do not have one, as my Norton Antivirus program should be uninstalled.  I can't get the Windows Update page to download.  Is there another way to get to this download?  I want to get do it as fast as possible, as I am currently without any virus/spyware protection.

    Thank you!!

If SP2 to SP3, is not installed, you could not possibly have a functional application of the antivirus installed and missing a value of more than four years of critical security updates! It is not a chance in h * that SP2 & SP3 will install with your computer in its current state, Erica.

  • 64-bit Vista will not install service pack 2

I'm running the 64 bit version of vista buisness. I tried to install service pack 2 using the automatic update, but it has not installed. I also tried the manual download. He gets to halfway done installing, then gives me an error 0x800f081f code. He told me to install the system update readiness tool. I tried to install it, but that no longer works. Not even done a selective sartup with everything disabled except for windows services works.

    Hi relik_66,

I suggest that you check your system for corrupted files.  You use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files.  To do this, follow these steps:

    1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, clickStart, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    2. type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • Windows install Service Pack 3

A long time ago when I received the automatic update to Service Pack 3 and tried to install it, the update failed (Error 1706: file PRORET.) MSI not found).  I do not have the disk that he wanted me to insert to find the file and my attempts to find help on the web has as well.  Since then, when I open Excel, Windows Installer gets up and tries to install Service Pack 3.  If I wait until it I fail can then try again and succeed to open my spreadsheets but I have to wait for the Setup program to do its thing.  Is there anyway to prevent that from happening in the first place?  Dare just uninstall Windows Installer?

Right click on desktop & select Properties: Windows version which is displayed on the general tab that results (for example, Windows Professional Service Pack 2)?

  • Cannot install Service Pack 3

I tried several times to install Service Pack 3.  I have XP Professional.  The error is "not enough disk space on C:\Windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$ etc etc and he wants an another 4 MB of space."  I have about 24Gig of space and deleted several times with disk cleanup.

    I also disabled Spy Sweeper.

    patwr,
Here are some things you can try to correct this issues.

    Run System File Checker

Then reset the Windows Update components and then test the update.

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?
