  changed your hardware components like RAM or HARD drive? Before installing a new system they must be removed!

  I have an old protégé 3440CT but I don't have the external disk, I only have the external cd-rom drive.
  When I bought the computer second hand, it installed windows Millennium Edition and I decided to install windows 2000.

  Because I don't have an external floppy drive, I decided to go down the internal disk (hard drive), put in a usb adapter and connect it to my desktop pc. I formatted the drive and created a partition where I copy all installation windows 2000 cd.

  But when I put the hard drive again in the protégé and restart the computer, the disc starts, it was not allow to restart. And appeared an insert saying message the disk in the drive.

  I just want to know if its possible to install the win2000 in my portege make a copy of the installation cd on a partition on the hard drive, and if not, how can I install it in my protected?

  I think you need to start Notepad using the floppy drive and boot disk. When start I presume you can access second partition and run the installation procedure. I didn t try before but in my opinion, it should be possible. Some users on this forum have reported on this possibility.

  I think that there should be no problem to install Windows 2000 on the M1, because Toshiba is provide drivers for this laptop for XP and also for the year 2000. You can find them on the download page for the driver.

• How to install Win 2000 form a USB CD on a protected 3440CT

  I have a 3440CT protected and are in need of repair/install Windows 2000 on a CD. I have the 4 game Win2k boot disk and can boot from USB FDD. The CD player is also a USB port that is connected via the port replicator, but he never saw also available.

  What I need to do to be able to see the CD drive for installation of windows?

  I have never done this, but I assume that you need DOS driver for the external hard drive. You must start the unit by using the startup disk, install the correct driver, and after that, I think that you will be bale to use external player of ODD.

  I can't boot from the CD more? I tried following things:
  -J' used several CDs to boot from, such as Windows XP, other CD CD WinXP or UBCD (ultimate Boot CD) and others to boot from.
  -J' chose in the start menu and the Bios first, the CD player must be started from.
  -Disabled the HARD, the LAN and the FDD drive so that only the CD must be started from, nothing else.
  -Press F12 after start-up und selected CD to boot from.
  -removed the battery
  -removed the disk drive HARD that the CD is only peripheral to start.
  -No available recovery disk.
  * Result: Always at top left corner a cursor flashing on a black ecran.*

  My story to this problem/question.
  -J' reinstalled Windows XP after the system became slow, with SP2 and SP3.
  -During the installation of SP3 and at the same time other pilot the system crashed.
  -Pressing F8 after starting, I can choose the Options to win.
  -System running days, several days without any reaction.
  -Sometimes, it goes into "secure mode" and freezes, no entry or possible reaction.

  I want to install Windows XP again from the CD and a clean version to work on.
  That means no two were leaving to work on alone.

  Can someone tell me why the CD player is with any media ignored inside and no departure from them is possible?

  It is a very interesting question, but obviously there is no common modules for this machine tool. I can t really give you an answer, but try to reinstall the utility.

  This is the zip file, and there is also a text document that contains the BIOS update procedure. Follow this description, and you can do it with success.

  I found two display drivers for this device. The latest version is 05.12.01.7048 02/13/03.

  I stopped the media recovery for win xp

  The installation is correctly with xp and when I reboot, I see the logo win xp for 1 second and then screen (0x0000007B) Blue

  I try safemode... nothing works

  I have load mini windows xp from a cd and I see all the files on the hard disk from the cd of recovery if it s installed

  I try to put the bios sata to ahci or compatible with the same problem

  I try many times with the same problem on a different machine with the same problem

  The laptop is returned to Toshiba (they have installed win xp from an original cd of microsoft, so I need activation, and I have to do this on 20 computers laptops and good course that no, the toshiba cd creator app, win the dvd...)

  I contact toshiba, I'm not sure that they understand what I want, I got a new dvd of restoration with the same problem

  Anyone has a solution I would be very happy

  Maybe something to change in the bios but I don't know what?

  In General original Toshiba recovery image is tested and should work properly on certain model of laptop. If there is a problem with recovery original you should clarify this with Toshiba directly.
  As far as I know the BIOS should be set to default settings and nothing should be changed in the BIOS settings when you want to use the recovery image.

  All I can imagine is that there is something wrong in the image itself. In the past, I had a similar problem with old Portege 2000.

  Is done: If you want to use the original image you must clarify this with Toshiba. Toshiba must offer good job recovery image. If you want to use own WXP then you must purchase the license for this. Toshiba has nothing to do with the activation of the OS.
