Install Windows 7 on a laptop IdeaPad Y510p of Windows 8

My friend just got his new laptop IdeaPad Y510p today, but as he doesn't like Windows 8, I gave her a Windows 7 disc to put on instead (as I know the drive works, as I used it twice before on two different computers). Shut down the computer, put in the disc and went to the bios to change the boot order. Windows 7 download, but when it gets to the startup screen that says "Starting Windows" with three red, yellow and blue balls, he runs for a second, but then freezes and does nothing after that. He tried to restart the computer, but it still does the same thing. He also tried by pressing the button on the side of the computer recovery, but this does not, either. What should we do?

Hi cheyenne1433,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Based on what you have posted here, you must change the Startup Mode in the BIOS. I'm here for WOOD > "STARTUP" tab > and change the Startup Mode for Legacy Support. Then save the settings and try to reinstall the operating system again...

I hope this helps.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Clet,

Since the serial number on this picture, you have the 59375625 model. After digging further, this parts search page and this point merchant does not seem an SSD on the specifications list. If the reception / box indicates that you have a 1 TB + 24 GB SSD, you may need to check under the hood (see pages 38-39 of the hardware maintenance manual)

    Hello:

You should be able to use the W7 x 64 drivers and software of p000-15 t on your model, except the BIOS and firmware files.

    Hello:

On your mobile in particular, it is easy to install Windows XP, if you know what to do.

Read the section of the installation guide for the repair on the link below, Chapter 5, page 100.

Change the device SATA from AHCI to IDE mode. Save the setting here (F10 key), and again when you go out.

Start your XP disk and it should now install without problem.

The tricky part is to install the SATA AHCI driver after installing XP, so you can change the setting back to AHCI.

This will allow your drive HARD to use native command queuing, which is not available in IDE mode.

Install XP, post back when you're done, and I will give you the instructions step by step to install the AHCI driver so you can change the storage back from IDE to AHCI setting.

You cannot change the setting back until you load the AHCI driver, or the laptop does not start.

    Hello John

It is not easy to understand the whole situation, especially the part with the virus.
In my opinion, Windows XP Home edition installation should not be problematic.

What you need is Windows XP Home SP2 or SP3 and driver SATA edition disc. Without SATA driver disk HARD will be not visible to Windows XP Home edition.

  • Laptop using Windows key to install Windows on another CD of license

    Hi all.

I'm from Portugal, if my laptop came with a recovery dvd that installs Windows XP Home Edition in Portuguese language.
My question is: is it possible to install Windows XP Home English from a different CD (no not via the dvd recovery) and continue to use the license key of windows that comes with the laptop?

for example, is the license key for laptop for Windows XP Home Edition (any language) or specifically for Windows XP Home Portuguese?

    Thankx in advance!

    Hello

NO, it is not possible to s. The key that is located on the cover of the CD is not activation key for Windows OS. This key you use to activate the Microsoft OneNote, which is preinstalled on the image of Toshiba.

    More info. :
Usually, the image of Toshiba is already activated and you n t need to activate the image of Toshiba.

  • Does anyone has installed Windows 7 on a laptop Pavilion DV2175

If anyone has installed Windows 7 on a laptop Pavilion DV2175 and if so it is 32 or 64 bit

    Hello:

There is an unofficial update guide to windows 7 for the series dv2000.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/Windows-7-upgrade-guide-for-DV2000-models/m-p/186936#M28141

Given that the maximum amount of memory, that you can install on your laptop is only 2 GB, I'd go with W7 32 bit, as a 64 bit OS requires more memory and disk space to run a 32 bit OS only.

    Not double, but more.

Performed troubleshooting: because the error # 80071 A 90 type indicated by the system, I followed the instructions of Windows Help and Support, for example to run Microsoft Fix it which did not work; a more advanced method has also been used, who recommended to start Windows Update in Mode safe, then open Windows Update and install the updates and then restart normally. At this point, the problem was that any stage of Windows Update was available.

    Hello amib004,

As much as I know, only Windows Update cannot be run in safe mode. That being said, I saw where install several updates may conflict with each other. Try to disable all updates installation and install the updates failed one at a time.

    Hi @orangeg66,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook and P2PP Burnboot could not install. I have seen that date back to 2012 first of all, and then by a default BIOS withthis document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. In this way, it will look at the hardware installed on your laptop. Restore factory default BIOS works on it.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • Pavillion M4-1006tx: 10 Windows reset on a laptop pre-installed Windows 8

    Hello

M4-1006tx Pavilion my laptop came with pre-installed Windows 8. I have upgraded to Windows 10 last July and now I would like to reset this installation of WIndows 10. I discovered that there are 2 methods to do a reset:

    1. in the "settings" inside Windows 10 frame and choose the reset option

    2. thanks to the recovery of the system (F11).

If I choose to reset through F11, it will install Windows back 8 or 10 Windows instead? As it happens with Windows pre-installed 8.

And if I choose to reset settings of Windows 10, will it suffer no problem at reset?

    Thank you!

    Hello

To answer your questions in order:

    1. the option reset under will reinstall Windows 10 - it is impossible to say if you would run in any problems using this method, but it still does not work for everyone.

    2. the option to access the Recovery Manager via F11 at startup would normally be to reinstall the original operating system (Windows 8), but it will not work now as a upgrade to Windows 10 breaks this feature - if you want to reinstall Windows 8, you must use the recovery media (disk or flash drive) that you created when you bought first Notepad - a guide on the reinstallation of Windows 8 of the recovery media can be found on the following link.

Performing a HP System Recovery - Windows 8

    3. Fortunately, there is also an option at your disposal 3.  As long as the current installation of Windows 10 has activated Ok after upgrade from 8.1, you can simply perform a new installation of Windows 10 as stated in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

  • R050sa flow 11: Activation fails after a clean install on laptop pre-installed Windows 10

I just bought a HP notebook 11 r050sa stream with Windows preinstalled Home 10, but could not start when it opened its doors to the top (circle kept spinning turn for hours).

As I was intending to do a clean install anyway, to remove any HP bloatware, I decided to delete all partitions and perform a new installation from a USB key using the official Microsoft Media creation tool for Windows 10 Home https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10.

Installation went well but the activation failed indicating that I have "do not have a digital right.

How is this possible, since the PC came with Windows preinstalled 10? How can I get my license back?

There was a surprising new twist in this question, should I report it here in case someone else is in the same situation.

When I received the activation failed I reported to my original request, I had done the installation using the edition entitled 'Windows 10 unilingual homepage' (see figure below), which seemed to me the only option if I wanted to install "Windows 10 home" which is preinstalled on my laptop.

Yesterday I did a last attempt at creating USB installation after selecting 'Windows 10' (see figure below). Yet once, I removed all partitions on disk and performed a completely clean install on my HP notebook 11 r050sa flow.

The result is that, in the end installation smoothly, I found my computer with installed "Windows 10 Home" and fully active, without the need to insert an activation key of windows, with all the drivers installed automatically by Windows and without any HP bloatware!

I'm puzzled by the outcome, but happy...

    Hello:

You must integrate the drivers for XP sata controller to be installed.

I zipped and tied the drivers you need below.

Unpack the drivers that I have attached to their record.

Then, read the section Intel the link below and the downloadable document that explains how to integrate the drivers that I've fixed it so that XP will be installed.
