Install Windows 7 on a new 3 TB hard drive
I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a new 3 TB hard drive. During the installation, I get a screen that says no hard drives have been found. Windows installs the boot files on the X startup disk but nothing else. The motherboard is an Intel DZ68BC and the Bios is set to boot from the UEFI. All of the suggestions.
Hello Keith,
Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.
Thank you for details on the issue.
This problem can occur if the storage controller and chipset drivers are not updated or due to incorrect BIOS settings.

When you try to re - install Windows XP, it does not detect the hard drive.
Hi all. I tired to do a reinstall of Windows XP today. It seems to take a lot of time, and then I did a very stupid thing. I turned off the laptop that I had to go. Now when I try to start the laptop on the cd, I get as far the screen where I have to press on enter to install Windows XP pro on the system or press R to repair. The problem is that there is now no facilities to choose from in the box below and the system is not recognizing the hard drive. I can't even as much as the screen to format the drive. When I press ENTER to install windows xp, then I get a blue screen telling me that the system shuts down to protect my pc. Is anyone able to tell me what to do to solve this problem please. Thank you very much in advance for your help. Noel
original title: I did a stupid thing... Windows XP ProSounds like a hard drive problem then. Your drive is maybe defective. First of all, you can use the partition of diagnostic Dell (F12) for its determination.
In case there is a SATA problem, press F2 to enter the BIOS and change the setting of hard disk SATA to legacy. (Might as well try this first.)

How to install Windows XP on Portege S100 home after HARD drive crash
In my laptop s100-s1133 of a HARD drive crash. I buy a new one. Now, I can not intall OS (Windows XP). Windows is not installed, because it does not find my HARD drive. I got downlad drivers for toshiba (Toshiba RAID driver for XP (v1.3.8.0, 10/04/2006; 465 K)). After the installation of win98, it cannot detect the CD-rom...
Y at - it a recovery for this model cd? or can say smb, how can I install WinXP on this modelHello
You are right that you must install the first RAID driver before installing the operating system.
If you have installed the RAID the installation Win driver will ask you to format the HARD drive.
In this case, do NOT format the HARD drive because the RAID driver will remove and it is not possible to install the Windows XP.Now your question Win98; is on the page of the Toshiba driver you will find not all drivers for Win98 for this device and I assume that you need a particular driver for the CD/DVD drive to activate this device.
I give you a warning regarding the use of the WinXP
PS: On the Toshiba driver page, you will find the installation instructions. Follow this guide!

Is it possible to install Windows XP Home Edition on my external hard drive?
I am currently using a computer with Windows 7 installed on the internal hard drive and want to install Windows XP on my external hard drive. However when I try to install Windows XP it says that my current version is newer than the one on the CD. I know that you can not install an old on top again, but what I want to do is install on my external not my intern.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.Unless your external hard drive is an eSATA drive (which for all purposes useful, behaves as if it IS an internal hard drive), then the answer is no.

Re-install Windows 7 after changing of notebook's hard drive
I bought my laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed a few years ago. Recently I started having a message that the hard disk failure is imminent. I bought a replacement hard drive, he cloned and installed in the laptop. All my programs and data is there, but now I get a message saying that Windows is not genuine. I tried in vain to backup the old hard drive and pass messages that suggest the hard or Windows is damaged.
I understand that the license for Windows, which came with the laptop, allows to change the hard drive, so if I can't restore it to the new hard drive, I can otherwise transfer? The common cause for these mismatches is a defective Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver
Download and install the latest version of...

Install Windows 7 in order to cover both hard drives?
I saw some laptops that come with two hard drives and Windows 7 seems to have been installed in order to cover the two hard drives. I'll buy a new laptop and replacing the average performance double hard drives with Western Digital Black Edition 750 GB disks hard performance; 5 year warranty compared to normal 3 year warranty.
I will also be upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 (the system comes with Home Premium x 64) and I want to do is to install the system by using any method is used to Pierce two readers and maybe same strip between readers for best performance. Laptops I've seen configuration as this does not have built in raid controllers so I think there must be some option in Windows 7 Setup / partition process to allow you to do this, but I could not find information on exactly how do you this. Can you point me to instructions or describe the process?
Thank you
-Chris
Most new laptops come with a single hard drive. It is often divided into two 2 partitions: the primary local drive (which has the Windows operating system installed) and a recovery partition (including the Windows system files necessary to perform a systrem recovery operation). For optimal performance, Windows 7 must be installed on only one hard drive. Laptops are not supported for RAID configuration.

minimum partition size for installing windows xp pro on a 80 GB hard drive
I need to reinstall windows xp pro on my computer that I had a virus that slowed down the entire system.
If I partition the hard drive to install the software for xp, what s the minimum space necessary to do incase I get a virus and have to reinstall windows without erasing all my data.Thank youWell, if you look at this thread, you will see that you "run" Windows XP in a 7 GB partition: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-performance/i-have-a-7gb-hdd-running-xp-it-has-very-few/13cf682f-9847-414a-9e9f-83c5c229d3cd but what computer "has very few applications and no photo or music.
A more realistic size would be 18-20 GB.
I suggest regular backups instead of make a partition of the "minimum size". If you follow your current plan, you will be before too long asked how to develop your system partition, because it is too small.

previously, I had windows 7 and I was testing bit locker on my external hard drive. now that I formatted my pc, my external hard drive requires password or the key, which do not have them with me I need to unlock this bad disc... Please help me...
You should have saves CERT, as you were warned to do when encrypting the drive. Creating a "password reset disk" would have done, too. (I hope you're not expecting to break bitlocker encriptación :)

How to install Windows 7 on the new hard drive?
I changed the old hard drive (500 GB) with a new hard dirve (1 Tera) and now I have two problems:-
1. how to install Windows 7 on a new hard drive?
2. my laptop came preinstalled Windows 7 Pro, but all the DVD kit (disk reclaimer Application & discs) + Revocer operating system, which has been provided (by Lenovo) for the laptop is in the Windows 8 Pro. So, how to install Windows 7 Pro, my laptop while all the DVD sets are in Windows 8 Pro?
either way, this is my laptop spec (for reference); -
* Note *.
I intend to install Windows 7 Pro on my new hard drive using another DVD of Windows 7 (not DVD provided by Lenovo), but how do all Leveno program located in the disk 'Application & recuperator readers' (by example; - Lenovo system health and Diagnostics, Lenovo Power Control, Lenovo Fingerprint Reader) to install this hard drive? (as I told you before, all the DVD kit is at or only for Windows 8 Pro)I hope someone will help me answer my question,
Thank youI found the solution.
Response to question 1; using a recovery & backup software to clone my current operating system, and then transfer them to my new hard drive.
Response to question 2; Download all drivers and software (all the application that located on the DVD of the kit I have) on the official website of Lenovo.
or another solution, send to a computer service shop and let the experts (workers) install it for me (the most simple and sure way).
