Install Windows 7 on the second hard drive

Hello

I'm new to this bear so please with me. I have a new machine that is running Windows 8.1 and I have 3 hard drives in the machine. What I'm trying to do is to install Windows 7 as a second OS on a disk that is not being used, but whenever I get to 'Install now' page of Windows 7 I have no mouse or keyboard control. Nada.Zip. What am I doing wrong please? Trying to find anything other than the partition online, I have that I can make head or tail nothing. I need not "Partition" anything. It's a car clean and new, and I know how to do it to point to the right of the road. This machine is a build (my first) and I use an i5 4690K on a card mother Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Please keep it simple I know very little of this Tech stuff. Just enough to get!

Thanks in advance,

First you need to remove the hard drive win - 8.1 so that other drive has it's own boot loader installed on his record rather than share with the victory-8 drive,

Then go into the bios of your motherboard and disable secure boot. Advanced / Start and scroll to the bottom for secure boot

If you see a list Type OS to other OS.

Usually access is typed on the delete key when switching voltage or F2 to enter setup.

Once the secure boot is disabled Insert win 7 dvd or flash drive.

Save the changes and then press the F8 key to start menu

Select the dvd or flash drive.

Try to install now.

Once installed win 7 you can stop and reinstall the hard drive win-8 and use F8 to select who has never install you want to start too.

  • Cannot install Windows 8 on the replacement hard drive

I got the replacement from Dell hard drive which he said would come with Windows 8 and pre-installed drivers. Well, I installed the hard drive and he said no. OS can be found. I didn't have a chance to make my own backup discs, but Dell sent a CD Windows 8 recovery media with the laptop and now with the replacement hard drive.

When you try to install Windows 8 on the new hard drive, I get to the part where it tells me to choose a partition to install Windows 8 on and none of them will not let me. There are 5 to choose from and I don't know what to do to get past this. The largest partition either 5A about 934 GB of space left out of 1 TB, but as I said I can't choose it or one of the other ones for the installation.

You just have to click on next, in any case, despite the message?  Otherwise:

Start on the DVD of Windows 8, instead of install now, click repair your computer, Advanced Options, invites ... when it opens, type the following:

    DiskPart
    Select disk 0
    clean

    Then, try to install.

The above will remove all the data partition and disk, allowing you to do a clean install on an empty drive (these scores are not required, and Windows will create its own partitions (two) he needs to install and run).

  • Need to install windows 7 Professional on second hard drive

Computer of my sister was in place and I began to suspect that the HDD went wrong.  I tried to do a reinstall on his computer and had no success.  I now took his hard drive of his computer and installed in mine as a second hard drive, like that I had a working computer and could be able to explore his.  I have been formatted for virgins out there and tries to use his professional disc of windows 7 to reinstall the operating system on the hard drive.  I have windows 7 home on my hard drive, when I insert the disc that I had heard that he was asking me what hard drive, I tried to install it to, and he has not tried to install it on my original hard drive and he said that I had to use a upgrade disk and not this one.

How to install on his hard drive, so I can then take up and put back in his computer and see if it works.  And also after that I get installed on the 2nd drive hard is there a way to try to boot from hard drive before that I have to remove to ensure it works well?
    Thanks for any help
    William

It's not going to work, but the startup information will be stored on your startup disk (one running Windows 7 Home Premium). If you did a dual boot on your system, then reinsert the disc in your computer of the sisters, she does not start. Now that you have properly formatted the drive, put it back into his computer and try the installation again.

  • How to install Windows 7 on the new hard drive?

I changed the old hard drive (500 GB) with a new hard dirve (1 Tera) and now I have two problems:-

    1. how to install Windows 7 on a new hard drive?

    2. my laptop came preinstalled Windows 7 Pro, but all the DVD kit (disk reclaimer Application & discs) + Revocer operating system, which has been provided (by Lenovo) for the laptop is in the Windows 8 Pro. So, how to install Windows 7 Pro, my laptop while all the DVD sets are in Windows 8 Pro?

either way, this is my laptop spec (for reference); -

    * Note *.
I intend to install Windows 7 Pro on my new hard drive using another DVD of Windows 7 (not DVD provided by Lenovo), but how do all Leveno program located in the disk 'Application & recuperator readers' (by example; - Lenovo system health and Diagnostics, Lenovo Power Control, Lenovo Fingerprint Reader) to install this hard drive? (as I told you before, all the DVD kit is at or only for Windows 8 Pro)

I hope someone will help me answer my question,
    Thank you

    I found the solution.

Response to question 1; using a recovery & backup software to clone my current operating system, and then transfer them to my new hard drive.

Response to question 2; Download all drivers and software (all the application that located on the DVD of the kit I have) on the official website of Lenovo.

or another solution, send to a computer service shop and let the experts (workers) install it for me (the most simple and sure way).

  • Install Windows 7 on the new hard drive with USB operating system recovery?

I have an Alienware 2015 15 which does not come with a CD player. I install a new hard drive (SSD 2280 m2), so the question is how to install WIndows 7.

While Microsoft offers an OS IOS for WIndows 8 download that you can put on a USB (with dell, I think that it automatically pulls the product key of BONE off the coast of the motherboard?) this IOS download is not available for Windows 7.

So the question is the recovery USB OS offered by dell will allow me to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on a new hard drive in the laptop even USB from recovery of the BONES came with. My last resort is to buy a new copy of windows 7 and a USB external CD/DVD drive.

TLDR: OS Recovery USB offered by dell will install Windows 7 on a new hard drive.

The factory restore USB will work on another drive. I did this procedure with the media created from the latest version of Dell backup and restore on my Inspiron 13 7347 and demonstrated the creation of media and installation on a new SSD:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/Dell-backup-and-recovery/

Since you are using use Alienware Alienware Respawn. Alienware respawn is very similar to Dell backup and restore.

First chech that the BIOS is configured to use the CD/DVD drive as frist boot device.

Then remove the old drive and only connect the new drive.

Start the PC and insert the CD that you created and boot from the CD.  If there is a "Long full" test, which is that you need to perform. Also check the SMART data (look for bad sectors).

  • Dell Inspiron 3520 - hard drive failure - how to install Windows 8 on the new hard drive

I bought Dell Inspiron 3520. My hard drive has stopped working completely. It was stated as dead hard drive by diagonstic center.

The .iso image file official 10565 has only:

    • Overview of the House of insiders
    • Overview of the Insider Pro

Unfortunately, there are 5 editions of Windows 10 and so 3 are missing. If your key is not automatically entered and accepted, it's probably a simple language edition or edition N.

When Microsoft release 10586 - TH2 - 1511 Version they will probably have an .iso that contains all 5 editions in 1 .iso or alternatively 5 .isos distinct (I hope as the first case that it will make Windows installation much easier).

  • How to run windows 7 on the laptop already installed windows 8 from the same hard drive

    Hello

I use a computer dell laptop with windows 8 OS. I want to install Windows 7 as another operating system on the same laptop. I got the image file on the hard disk in a different partition. I have not found any flash drive or dvd close to home. So, is it possible to make from the same laptop?
    Thank you
    Teja

You will need to put the contents of the ISO image of Windows 7 on a DVD/Flash drive file and start, but after that you can install it on the same hard drive.  You could take little space and divide your hard drive into multiple partitions and install on one of them, or you can create a virtual hard disk (VHD) file and install on that.

I wrote about the VHD method on my site back when Windows 8 came out first, but it works backwards too.

Itrdidnt have a hard drive in it, so he put an in, he had then loaded the windows xp for the computer crashed, but after that, it could not authenticate the computer only it Noah has can you help me thank you so much Greg

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • Portege M400 - cannot install Windows XP on the new HARD drive

    Hello here is my problem,

I bought an older Portegre M400 E, without a HARD drive. So I buy a new Samsung 400 GB. I looked in the Bios (ACPI BIOS Version 3.40) and it is ok. He shows me the HARD drive with built in Assign LD - 0 status ONLINE, 400 GB size so it seems to be nice. Changed the matrix Raid, described in the manual, in condition to create 1Raid-0
So, I want to boot from the Windows XP CD, not recovering my own.

Windows open to the top and after a short period, the installation ends with the message that it is not any HARD drive. This I try sometimes :-( Hope someone can help me.
Do not forget that I didn't have any HARD disk with the dates of the laptop.

    Thank you Carsten

I don't know much about your model, but I think that something wrong with the raid in the Bios settings. What other options are available in the Bios for the State of the hard drive? I found the RAID driver on the Toshiba driver page. It is possible, that you can integrate in with a program called nlite Windows installation disc or install Windows as in compatibility mode, and install the Raid driver. then

    Hello

Do not forget to connect the keyboard and mouse USB 2 ports (not USB 3).

If you are using a non-US keyboard and/or a version non-English version of Windows, then press the ESC key at startup to the top and then select the appropriate language.

  • Can I install Windows XP on the same hard drive?

I had my office since 2008 and I decide to format the drive, now I need to know If I can install the same operating system (Windows XP) once formatted?

As long as you have the CD key and product instalation, Yes.

Do not forget to install the latest drivers from device XP (starting with the card mother/chipset driver) of the web site of the manufacturer of the computer support.

Because I assume that you use XP with the same product key until and up to now, you may have to activate by phone.

    Hello

You need two cables, one is a sata cable:

    http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/30305659/706331346/STARTech-com-6in-SATA-to-right-angle-SATA-serial-ATA-cable-female-SATA-female-SATA-6-inch-red/ListingDetails.html?_%24JA=TSID:13315% 7Ccat: 30305659% 7Cprd: 30305659 & kw = {keyword}

This cable is only for data and connect the hard drive to the SATA connector on the motherboard.

    The other cable is energy:

    http://www.itpartsdirect.com/STARTech-15-24cm-4-pin-Molex-to-SATA-power-cable-adaptor.html

It connects the hard drive to the PSU.

You can also buy a combo like this cable:

    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/DP/B00064GBT4/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550951989&ref=asc_df_B00064GBT4

All you have to do is to connect the hard drive and that's it. Make sure that the main drive with the operating system is connected to the primary SATA connector (I think there are the numbers 1, 2, 3...)
