install xp over vista preinstalled

Mr President

I brought a hp laptop dv4 series 1318tu with preinstalled vista home sp2 from base with CPU core2Duo, 4 GB ram, 298 GB Hdisk.

I installed xp sp3 using nlite with the help of the following forum

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/problem-in-Instlling-XP-in-HP-DV4-1318tu-series/m-p/126411

but my best efforts is not the card its installed. so, I got vista using the recovery disk (3DVD). Sir, I beg you to please post a step wise procedure to install xp in dual boot option. I don't want to format c and g drivde and will decrease the volume of these partition to create a new partition (minimium space required to install xp) f to install xp.

Sir, I have heard that if xp is installed on pre-installed vista as dual boot os vista will not start start opting is managed with third party software as I don't have vista disk.so installation please please post software third free link to download (if necessary).

I'll always be oblized for your kind reply...

Thanks for the reply of the year. I solved my last thread of prob. goto the following link

MS Vista was preinstalled on my computer. (I bought it new.) It did not come with a MS Vista program disc.) My hard drive has crashed and I need to replace it. What should I do to get the Vista OS on my new hard drive.

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Hello

Your Windows 7 disc question topic:

What is an OEM of Windows 7 license, or a license to retail that you have bought yourself?

If preinstalled license of Windows 7 OEM or system integrator, it is related that it is installed on the original computer.

If it is a retail license, you can transfer it to another computer.

BUT a retail sales license can be installed on a single computer at any time.

With the help of different methods to reinstall the hard drive for a clean reinstall Vista formats.

Here are the different methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Contact the correct computer manufacturer that made the correct recovery disks and then ask how to use them.

It is their software/recovery process, NOT from Microsoft.

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 1 9 b I bought 9 months ago. It has Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1. I have serious problems with the updates:

1 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 86 - I can't install this for the last two months. Whenever it appears that the installation has failed.

2 security Update for Windows Vista (KB961501) can be installed as well

    3. my Internet Explorer 8 does not work for the past two weeks. I tried to download it and when I did, then, my computer does not restart. I had to use sans-echec Mode, uninstall IE8 to return to Normal Mode

    4. I also tried to download and install SP2 for Vista, but it failed.

I am very worried. Please suggest me what I should do.

    Thanks for your help.

I think that the decision of the antivirus program is a personal opinion

I put t like McAfee and Norton because they need a lot of system resources and do a slower computer.
I prefer AntiVir and Kaspersky Security suite. The two programs have good scan engine and don t need a lot of system resources. They are easy to use to use it.
AntiVir is free but it s just an antivirus. Kaspersky Security suite also contains a firewall, antispam filter and more.

It s your choice what program you are using. ;)

I want to install XP with Vista - have created a separate disk/volume & must go into the BIOS to cd XP will boot from there it starts & begins to implement loading files & then comes up with the message that it does not recognize the hard drives.

Someone can advise please & is there a reason THAT XP & Vista should not be set on this laptop (Tecra A9).

    Best regards PM

    Hello

Please do not hesitate to use the two OS on this notebook ;)

I put t see difficulty do. You must first install the XP on the laptop.
Then create a second partition on the HARD drive. On this score, you will be able to install Vista.

The Vista Setup program will create a boot manager so that you can choose between the two OS (XP and Vista) at startup.

Just try this. If something does not work please post again ;)

    Matt,

Update Manager did not install the update because it must be downloaded again.
Suggest you download and Save the complete stand-alone package of Vista SP1.

Links to the standalone versions are on this page because you validate that the edition of Vista is x 86 (32-bit) or x 64 (64-bit). You can see the architecture of the system of opening in the Panel and next to the search System system type: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Before attempting to apply the SP1 please consider this information-

If you choose to install Windows Vista SP1 via the standalone installer available on the Microsoft Download Center, Microsoft recommends that you first check Windows Update and install all drivers in option. Read the Articles in the Knowledge Base 948187 and 948343 for more information.

Suggest you to create a folder on the root drive (the drive where Windows is installed, usually C:\) and name SP1.
Move the downloaded Service Pack in the newly created folder.
Disconnect all the devices, printer, external USB hard drive, etc.

Follow the info below to try a Startup Repair:

As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

If yours falls into the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

It's a very good Vista repair disc.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
There is not a disk of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

System will not install KB972036 - States does not apply.

Referring to 956702 KB notes that the http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=167357 link that needs 32-bit is 64-bit.  In addition, it specifies SP2 - which obviously I do not have.  But I manually downloaded the apparently correct tool and ran it - get does not apply.
