I tried installing using the administrator account with all services non - Microsoft Startup and antivirus disabled and received the same error message. I restored the system to a point before the initial setup attempt was made and tried to install it again and received the same error.

  According to the Adobe customer service, they do not provide installation files for all their old products (understandable).  Acrobat 9 Pro, only versions of Windows are available for download via Adobe.

  I am trying to install a trial version of Acrobat Reader DC.

  On installation the message "conflict of Application - Safari must be closed in order to proceed to the Installation of Acrobat. Please close and try again. "continues to appear.

  Safari is closed permanently and I followed the advice of support on the Adobe website but still no luck.

  You must use the exact installation file that corresponds to your serial number.  of course, the versions must match.
