Installation of an earlier Version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005

I am getting SideBySide errors in the event log when you run an earlier version of Office. This is one of the errors:

Solves the that partial assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC. Reference error message: the referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

I studied the mistakes and I think that the solution is to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005. I'm afraid I already 2008 and 2010 is installed on my system and install the old version may conflict with these versions.

Is it safe to install the old version?

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Peter

Each software package requires C++ is designed for a particular version of this.  You can have several copies of C++ on your system because only this application that needs a version "will call" for her other applications using the other version can run at the same time

I have 6 versions of C++ on my system without conflicts, but my system is winning 8.

This can be long and winded, but I spent 5 hours trying to solve this problem.

It all started when I tried to uninstall a program, but I kept getting the message that wanted me vcredit.msi (or something like that) I downloaded a copy of it and pointed out the program of this file, but it has always found a problem and wouldn't uninstall. (Add/Remove programs won't uninstall it not more)

So, I moved to the installation of a new program. He repeats to me '\Temp\IXP1. TMP\ is not a valid package for the product Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005

I also have trouble downloading updates Microsoft for Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable & at the same time in updates it shows Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable.

I tried to uninstall Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable via Add/Remove Programs, but it won't let me say it does not find some programs.

This thing is annoys the heck out of me.

I need to set the Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable problem (looks like I need the new version 2008 or 2010?) and be able to install and uninstall programs. Which is somehow related.

Any ideas what to do. (Please speak as clearly as possible. I'm a fool when it comes to computers lol)

Original title: Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 disorders (installing and uninstalling of programs)

    Hello Angelz,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

The error you get can be caused by components from Visual C++ Runtime libraries that are missing or get conflicted, perhaps due to a third party software or badly configured registry settings.

So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists:

    Method 1:

    a. click Start, right-click computerand then click Properties.

    b. in the name computer, domain, and workgroup settings , click change settings.

(If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.)

    c. click change settings , and then select the Advanced tab click the environment variables button.

    d. the user variables area, click on TEMPand then click change.

    e. in the Variable value box, type C:\Temp, and then click OK twice.

    f. click applyand then click OK.

    g. follow steps 4 to 6 for the variable of environment TMP as well.

    h. confirm this folder C:\Temp exist, otherwise create a.

    i. restart the computer.

    j. attempt to install the application again.

If the steps do not help, try the next method.

    Method 2:

If you are comfortable in changing some registry settings, then follow the steps provided below.

    1. Click Start and type run in start search box, and then press enter.
    2. Type regedit and click OK.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to change the

Registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 KB
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
  • Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B
  • Right-click on this registry entry, and then click Rename.
  • Rename F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B to -F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B.
  • Close the registry editor.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Check if you are able to install the application.
  • If the method does not resolve the problem, continue to the next method.

    Method 3:

You can also reinstall Visual C++ Library Runtime components to solve the problem.

You can uninstall all existing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package and check if it helps.

Step 1: To uninstall the package:

    1. Open programs and features, click Start > Control Panel >programs and features.
    2. In the list, find the Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ and click on it.
    3. Right-click on it and select Uninstall.
    4. Restart the computer.

Step 2: Download and install the latest package and see if it helps.

Download the relevant package depending on your system's architecture.

For 32 bit: Download Details: Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x 86)

    For 64-bit: Download Details: Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x 64)

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

  • Do I need a bunch of different versions of microsoft visual c ++?

My computer has a bunch of different versions of Microsoft Visual C++

    I have 2 dated 2005, 2008 dated of 3, 1 dated 2010 and 2012 dated the 1.

My understanding is that I would need only the latest version (2012), but I want to make sure before I uninstall the other.

I know I could probably let them such that they cause any conflictions or anything, but I'm very short on space and would like to clear some. (I am running Windows 8 Pro on a Tablet Atom of power with 64 GB of storage, expansion is not an option without decreasing portability or an expensive solution).

I have most of my files on skydrive storage, most of my space is taken up with the programs I need.

If I uninstall 6 earlier versions of Microsoft Visual C++ without loss of functionality that would clear up some space.

    Thank you for your support.

    Hello

    Hello

Do not uninstall one of these different versions of Visual C++.

When a developer creates a software, they use the files from the current or a previous version of the Visual C++ runtime files. These versions are installed by the software program and must be present on the computer for this software to work correctly.

When Windows Update checks your system for available updates, it detects these older versions are present and if an update is available for these older versions, it will be installed.

Deleting one of these versions may cause some programs to stop working.

If you look at the size of these files, they are very small.

Ask yourself what MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430) and MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KD973688) I was able to delete them?

Do not delete one of them.  They are there for a reason.  The amount of space, you can free up is negligible anyway.  When you can buy a 1.5 TB for $90 hard drive, it's a waste of time and effort to worry about a few megabytes.  And if you delete something you need, the consequences can be disastrous.

    By the way 1 TB = 1 000 000 megabytes.

    Good luck.

When you get this message - do not respond.
Instead use explore and find the path where the Setup program has extracted from its files - may be that the file is there too - he would be appointed as vcredist - whatever.exe
Or just download and install it yourself.
