Installation of an HP Scanner accuracy, series 4200C

After several years of loyal service, my scanner CanoScan died peacefully in his sleep.  A friend gave me their old scanner and the installation disc.  When I try to install it, I get a message that it's for Windows in 1998 and I can't use it.  Is it possible to move to install the scanner securely?

No, unless HP support can help, which is unlikely.

  • Scanner HP Scanjet 4200C: cannot upgrade Windows XP to Vista

After the migration from Windows XP to Windows Vista I can no longer operate my scanner HP Scanjet 4200 C. I installed the original series of scanner HP 4200C software and plugged the scanner via the USB interface. The software starts up, but cannot find the scanner. After reviewing the HP web page I discovered that HP does not provide an upgrade to Vista; the last update they provide is for XP and not Vista-compatible. Everyone had the same problem and found a solution?

HP has written drivers for their products, not Microsoft.

If HP has said that there are no Vista drivers for your printer model, it has none.

If it will not work with XP drivers on the link above:

You will need to consider buying a Vista Compatible Scanner.

  • Error message: "could not cop files. Make sure that the target disk is not dead", during the installation of the drivers scanner Epson Perfection V500.

Original title: the scanner driver update problems.

Problem: I am trying to install a driver for an Epson scanner update.  I get the error message: could not copy files.  Make sure that the target disk is not read-only.

I'm running Windows XP Home edition.  Scanner is an Epson Perfection V500 Photo.

    What I did:

    • A release with the support of Epson.  They tell me that I have the admin rights.  However, I am the administrator and log on as administrator
    • I downloaded the epson driver update, which is an executable zip file.  I right-click on the file, select Run As..., opt to run it as an admin user, enter my password and select run.  The files are decompressed, but at some point in the installation, I get the message "couldn't cop files.  Make sure that the target disk is not read-only.  (Target is C:\)
    • Furthermore, I installed this driver successfully on my other computer that is running Windows XP Professional

Why not copy the driver files?

    Hi Passport35,

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can try running the fixit article and following cjheck, if it helps.

Diagnose and solve the program installation and uninstallation problems automatically

    Method 2:

If the previous step fails then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

    a. click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box and then click OK.

    b. at the command prompt, type sfc/scannow, and then press ENTER.

Note: the scan may take a while, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows XP installation CD.

Wait for the analysis of complete and then check if you can install the drivers.

  • Server 2008 R2 installation will not configure on DV7 series laptop

I installed the Server 2008 R2 on a laptop DV7-7012nr. I upgraded the memory up to 16 GB. I deleted all the partitions, and then divide the hard drive into 2 partitions. Partition 1 is 7 442 Go Windows, Partition 2 is 256 GB server.

When I install, windows server 2008, in dual boot, it will not complete the configuration for the material. This leaves me the choice either reinstall Windows server 2008 and to come back to the same error or return to windows 7.

How can I get a dual boot for a full installation of Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition or Standard on my DV7-7012nr laptop?

After spending 5 days with installing Server 2008 R2 64-bit on this laptop, I contacted the HP Support. Technical support HP and after 4 hours and 7 different technicians, I was informed that they can not help me with the installation of Server 2008 on this laptop. I know it's possible, and I installed Server 08 several times that I can remember. I'll have to this laptop with the conclusion that although HP says that it will work, it will not return.

Summary; Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Standard or enterprise will not be installed on the HP Pavilion dv7-7012nr laptop.

  • Remove the installation files unpacked after the C7200 series Software Installation?

After that my printer (Photosmart C7280) has disappeared from the list of printers, I was tryilng to reinstall the software. Whenever I try, however, the installation package décompacte files, but does not delete them after installation (or after the installation fails). I have now no more room on my hard drive.

How to remove unnecessary files from these 'unwrapped' after installation? Where they were unpacked.

Thanks for any help, it's terribly frustrating!

If you use Windows files will be generally placed in a folder directory in a subdirectory with 7z...

To find these click Start, my computer and in the address bar type "%temp%" without the quotes. Search the directories starting with 7z at this stage.  You can remove directories full 7z *.

Your CD will not work in Windows8. Try to go to: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html . Enter the full name of your printer and download and install the necessary drivers/software for windows 8. Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.

  • Installation: Cannot find code redemption or series

Just bought the Amazon box version and cannot go beyond the screen serial number. I have an adobe membership and have been throughout the help pages. They say that there should be a "redemption code" on the box or the album cover. The number on the handle is only 8 characters and will not work. Next to the bar code is only 18 numbers and will not work. Amazon did not send me a redemption code. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

They place the sticker of the unique serial number on the cover of the DVD of Windows that I threw in the first side. Thanks for your reply.

  • I lost the disc to restore my phone and it is no longer supported by the manufacturer. Can I use the installation disc for my desktop with my laptop serial number?

I lost my laptop computer restore disc and it is no longer supported by the manufacturer. Can I use the installation disc for my desktop with my laptop serial number?

My title says it all. I have an old HP laptop that they do not send to restore the disc more (I don't know yet I had one; his old laptop from my brother) and I have an installation disc for my new PC. I have a Windows XP Home edition SP2 installation disc. However, as the hard drive of my laptop broke down, I don't know what version of windows it was. I think it should have been an OEM version and the sticker says it was Windows XP Home Edition.

Now, anyway I tried to install my installation on laptop computer disc, offering series of laptop computer but now it asks me to activate. Will it work if I activate it?

    Thank you

Unless you are lucky enough to know someone who has a generic OEM drive, which you can borrow, I don't see a practical solution for you.  I advise you to spend the money to buy one, even if you could find one to buy from a reliable source (not eBay!).  Although a generic OEM disc should work with your product key, there is no guarantee that it will work with your product key.

If your laptop can be retrieved through a restore partition, and you can't borrow a disc that will work with your product key, then you have pretty much exhausted all reasonable or practical options.

I finally did! I borrowed a copy of a generic OEM drive, through activation and it is!

Thank you much for the help...

Now I've done could you help me more? Say now, I returned the drive OEM back (don't want to make an illegal copy) and want to be able to use my current system installed to generate a system disk that will allow me to avoid all the problems I've had up to now. What would you recommend? I've read a few articles on other forums (I did some research!) but is a little confusing. I hope you could help.

    Thank you

    Hello

If it does not install on Vista and then have you considered or tried "compatibility mode" and tried to use Windows XP? I do not work for Microsoft I, like many other MVPS on this forum, give our free time to answer the questions of the users. Because I do not work for Microsoft under any title that I'm unable to confirm whether your problem is a Windows problem or not.

As a suggestion I'd be inclined to uninstall the software and then reinstall it in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP to see if that does work. All you have to do is start Vista uninstall the printer/scanner software and then restart Vista again. Once you are at the level of the Vista desktop, insert the printer/Scanner Software CD/DVD into your DVD drive and hold down the 'Shift' key like CD/DVD towers (this will prevent the autorun from running). Once the CD/DVD stops turning, open Windows Explorer and click on your CD/DVD drive to view the files on the CD/DVD. Locate the file "setup" and click right on it. In the drop-down menu, select Properties. In the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab. Instead of the article of Compatibility Mode is activated (tick) the checkbox "run this program in compatibility mode for" then click on the arrow to the right of the box below this option and select Windows XP (service pack 2) from the drop-down. Finally click OK.

Now click (or double click depending on how your mouse is in place) on the Setup file to begin the installation of the printer/scanner and see if it will install in XP compatibility mode.
