Installation of Firefox will not be finished, hangs at "a little household... "with the green bar 90% complete

I downloaded Firefox 11.0, saved on my desktop and double clicked on it to start the installation process. Everything seems to be working, however when the installation status bar reaches about 90% and displays 'a bit of household... "the installation froze. However, I was able to open and use Firefox, so that the installation has been frozen. But since I was swapping Chrome Firefox I thought that maybe there was a software conflict so I killed the uninstalled Firefox and Chrome installation process, ensured their program files have been deleted, ran a registry cleaner, deleted the windows prefetch and restarted the computer to a squeaky clean state. I then tried installing Firefox, but it's the same thing. My question is: is this installation of Firefox going to be stable in the long term since the installation never ends with success? Everything seems to work very well and I had no problem, but he has only a few hours.

Hi dazza555,

It is usually the only reason why it crashes like this that if there is a file that needs to be changed that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You can run the installer again just to be sure that everything has been installed correctly. You should try to run the program once Firefox as Administrator:

  • Right-click on the icon and choose run as administrator

If this does not help, then do a clean reinstall.

  1. Download a new copy of Firefox from the Mozilla download page and save the file to the desktop.
  2. Uninstall your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running Setup again.
  3. Run the Setup program

Remember that you do not want to delete personal data during the uninstallation. You should take a look at backup and restore Firefox profiles information before you begin. This way you will always have your personal information.

Hope this helps!

  • Firefox will not load Java on Linux - even after following all the instructions on the net I can find - what am I doing wrong?

The problem I have is that I am running Puppy Linux on my laptop.

Now, I have tried everything I can to get Java works under Firefox, chrome, or Seamonkey (I have all three browsers on my computer).

For firefox and seamonkey, I tried the following-

Downloaded the tar.gz for java file
    he unzipped in/opt/java
went to/user/lib/mozilla/plugins and run the command
    ln-s/opt/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
to create the symbolic link to the plugin
check that the plugin is executable (in fact even tried to give all full read/write permission and run it)

For chrome does the same thing but put the symbolic link in the/usr/lib/chromium-linux/plugins folder instead.

Restart the web browser, even tried to restart the X server where the browser runs somewhere in the background.

All three browsers can pick up all other .so plugins in this folder except Java.

When I click on check plugins on firefox I access the page on 'Missing Java? -For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please install the latest version.

However, the version I downloaded is Version 7 9 update that is exactly the same as that which is available under the latest version of Java is (it was only downloaded from this link a few minutes before, I even tried to re - download just in case there was an update in 5 minutes).

If I go to the Java folder and run the control panel of the Java Control Panel appears, and he knows where Java is installed and everything.

So what's happening? I have installed the plugin in the right directory? I guess then that is where all the other plugins are stored and Firefox, Chrome and Seamonkey are picking all others upward fine, or would there be an old version of Java lurking around somewhere on my system, Firefox, Seamonkey, and Chrome are trying all to use it?

I also tried to download the RPM and posing in the folder/usr/java and replacing the symlink/opt/java than in the folder/usr/java and still nothing.

I don't really understand it ' cos it's picking up all the other plugins like Gecko and even installed Flash in the same way and that works very well.

libjavaplugin_oji.so is the classic Java plugin.

You need the libnpjp2.so of next generation plugin (for examplejava/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so) for current browsers.

  • The computer date went before a day, switched back and now Firefox will not record history.

Hey guys! My brothers and sisters have decided to play a trick on me and changed my computer to the front of a week time (panic ensued). I changed it to the current date, 07/30/2104 21:18 (at time of writing), and now Firefox will not trace of my story. Just one day, I changed the time on the computer to the front and then Firefox will begin to record history. Changed, there again at the present time and also return one day and it will not save. Story work for Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

  • Firefox will not allow a site to work correctly, but IE only

I use www.teambeachbody.com for my training and my business. Firefox will not have menus to appear, and I can't click on the buttons for navigation; However, Internet Explorer * will *. I HATE the Explorer because it runs very slowly, but I don't have a choice at this point. No idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

    Start with some basic troubleshooting.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • Windows Firefox will not close.

    Hello
I am running windows 8.1 and Firefox 38.0.1. whenever I click on the Red 'x' to close Firefox, Firefox will not close. If I want to close all tabs, Firefox does not close the last tab. If I try to merge windows (by dragging the tab of a window in a different window) Firefox will create a blank tab on the window where I dragged the dragged tab. So far, the only way to close the Fire Fox is click on the close button or to stop by the Task Manager. When I re - open Firefox Windows and previous tabs are also there, and I'm still not able to close them. I restarted my PC and reinstalled Firefox (uninstalled and re-download). However, after downloading Firefox... the same windows will be opened, with the same tabs! It's horrible!

  • Firefox will not display on the screen even though with Process Explorer, I see active Firefox.exe but no CPU usage

I use Firefox as default browser v10.0.2 on Dell XPS8300 Intel Core i5 and Windows 7 Ultimate and Compaq Presario CQ57 IO IO Intel Core i3 and Windows 7 Home. More frequently on the (approximately 90% of attempts) that Dell (50% of attempts) Firefox will not display on the screen when I click the icon. Cannot display other programs when it happens. I expressly say display because I believe that Firefox has started. To work around the problem, I installed Process Explorer on both machines and launch this program first, then click on the Firefox icon. When the problem occurs I see process Firefox.exe in the list of processes; some CPU consumed but, then, no CPU activity. If I click on the Firefox icon, yet another process opens in the list of processes, but with the same answer - some consumed CPU and then no CPU activity. If I have 2 processes running and kill the process from the 1st, the 2nd poster and then everything is normal. If I do not open it treat a 2nd, but kill the 1st process then click the Firefox Firefox is displayed and all then is normal. This problem has occurred since the original on the two new machines installation. I have updated the video drivers on both computers.

OK, let's see if we can solve this problem and make it work for you!

First of all, if you start Firefox in safe mode (restart your computer first, then when you open Firefox, hold down the SHIFT key) it starts more reliable? This is usually caused by a defective module. If this does not help, then restart Firefox, go to the Firefox, then add-ons button and disable your extensions one by one until you find the troublemaker.

Also, try to update to Firefox 11, it has several bug fixes that might make life easier here.

Just as a few troubleshooting steps base to ensure that we have all the bases covered,
Run all Windows updates, install all required service packs, etc.

Update all of your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This check allows that there is no virus on your computer, causing problems. You can uninstall this program after having cleaned the infections.
