Installation of SSDS in Pavilion P7-1220

Hello

I have a Samsung 1 TB SSD w' win 8.1 and other data on it from my current HP Envy Phoenix 160-810 and its replacement by another reader.  My question is that I want to transfer the Samsung SSD 1 TB Win 8.1 for my older Pavilion P7-1220 that is running Windows 7.  I will take the current HHD out of the Pavilion and don't plan to use it...

I don't want to do a migration of data, or something like that, I want to just swap drives.  Is that all I need to know in order for the new SSD out of the desire to work in the Pavilion?  Update the BIOS?  Set up the SSD as boot drive in BIOS?

Your help / suggestions are greatlt appeciated.

Hello

Because it's Windows 8.1 (or 8), the main problem, no key of Windows in the BIOS on the other machine that is why it does not work. You must talk with Microsoft about this first and you can fix later drivers.

Kind regards.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp45001-45500/sp45073.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

    Kind regards

I followed the online instructions how to install the SSD for my MacBook Pro. I then rebooted by Mac in recovery mode and formatted the drive in Mac OS extended (journaled). It was a little bit tricky message sometimes giving such as erasure of disk failures, but eventually it worked. I selected to install the OS on this HD. The installation went well but then we he had finished wen timer back to 1 hour, 46 minutes. He made several times and after 6 hours, I decided to leave and start over. The second time after erasing HD and formatting again the OS that came was El Capitan for installation so I continued. On the third attempt has received a similar message from the failed to install ' year error occurred during extraction of the files in the package "Essentials.pkg." " »

About 2 months ago I reformatted my HD original as installed latest OS El Capitan as the mac has been slow. Does have a report with questions I get on doing the same thing with another HD?

    What model of MacBook Pro?

    Which SSD model?

    You have another Mac?

    Possible causes:

-Incompatibility of your Mac with this specific SSD. Recently, some users have reported what appears to be these incompatibilities

-You damaged the cable flex between the drive and the system board.  It is a common problem and causes intermittent problems initially and if it's even worse the Mac will see is even more disk

-You have an another hardware problem as RAM bad or other component.

    I'd do it

    -Run Apple Hardware Test

Using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support

-Connect an external drive and install OSX on this disc and boot from this facility and see if you have any problems

-If you have another Mac download a compatible OS x Installer for the Mac App Store and create a USB bootable using device

and install OSX on the SSD.

  • Pavilion 550-122nd: install an ssd in Pavilion 550-122nd

I am installing an ssd in my computer (Pavilion 550-122nd).

The chassis of the computer is not as I used to know, where you could fix with the screws on the side (HD) material.

The hard drive in the 550-12 Pavilion is set on the bottom of the hard drive.

The 2.5 "to 3.5" support for the ssd in the computer doesn't have the screw holes on the bottom of the support.

Are special types of media for this? Or, how to install an ssd in the 550-122nd Pavilion?

    Thank you.

    Meribel

Personally, I wouldn't worry on the screws.

With a hard drive, these are important because they stop the car while it is in use.  But in an SSD, you have no moving parts, so there is no reason to immobilize.

I have a tower PC running on an SSD and which is simply placed on top of a tray of disk - and works very well for months!

    Good luck

  • HP Envy m7-n011dx: HP Envy m7-n011dx, installation of SSD and drivers for windows 10

    Hello.

Just got on my mail today a HP ENVY m7-n011dx.

    HP ENVY notebook - m7-n011dx
    Product: M1W00UAR #ABA
    Warranty: 90d90d0d
    Model: m7-n011dx

I have an SSD and install Windows 10 company on that front. I can get some drivers from here:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-envy-M7-n000-notebook-PC/7771355/model/8381965?SK...

But this forum helped a lot with good advice on how to do, so if you have any recommendations on what I should install first, or the order of installation, please let me know.

Also, is there a quick way to completely disable the mouse pad?

    Thank you!

Intel Chipset utility must always be the first installed, then all the others in this category. Graphics would be my next choice mainly for aesthetics. Others can be installed in virtually any order.

I'm sorry that I don't know a quick way to disable the touchpad. I have no idea why HP has removed the button off / on for most of their laptops.

  • Upgrade SSD for Pavilion 15-n097 (F4T60EA #ABU)

I have a newly purchased 15-n097 Pavilion and an M500 Crucial 480 GB SSD, I would like to install.

Can someone direct me to the proper maintenance and manual advice on any bios updates that may be required please?

I understand that the HARD drive on this machine is a bit of a pig to get to but as long as I have clone HARD drive (I have Acronis True Image) and are not reluctant to do open heart surgery on a new laptop (OB) then I'm good to go...?

Well, here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 65. Get the means of hard disk, remove the top cover. Yes use Acronis and disk clone with proportional resizing with an external SATA USB adapter then swap the SSD to the original hard disk, and you'll be good to go. You must not touch the BIOS or really to make changes to the operating system. Windows 8 is quite good at recognizing the SSD and established itself in order to optimize their. Don't resist it.

I just put a 840 EVO 250 GB Samsung in a HP Envy m6. Without checking, I am almost sure that your machine supports SATA III, no new laptops will not have that. Even if he has not a SATA SSD will work with SATA or SATA II even I have.

You reason that 2.5 "is what you need. One thing to check is if your machine is really thin it may need a smaller height z. Some readers are 9.5 mm high (especially mechanical) and some are 7 mm. I know that the Samsung drives are 7mm while a former 520 Intel, I bought was 9.5 mm.

As far as I know, there should be no maximum size that would support the laptop. Given that 1 TB is the maximum size of 2.5 "SSD and I don't think that 2 TB will soon happen, you can get any size. The only reason why it would be same as a limit would be something artificial that HP has added as blocks of material that they use.

For ability, it depends on your needs. I have several computers and keep most of my media on USB 3 external drives and the main server that has a lot of disk space. If you plan on using this system and you want to download music, movies and images, you may want to look at 500 GB being the minimum. Hell, if your budget allows, you can enter a 750 GB Samsung SSD EVO for less than $400. While this seems like a lot, keep in mind that you can pass on to your next laptop, a desktop computer, or purchase a chassis and use it as an external USB drive in the future.

  • Restore failed HP of Win8n after reboot when restoring to new SSD on Pavilion G6 2284 cell ca

System: HP Pavilion G6 2284 cell ca

    OS: Windows 8

Relevant additional material: OCZ 240GB SSD Vertex 3 Max IOPS Edition (firmware 2.25)

    Steps to reproduce:

    (1) HP Pavilion G6 2284 portable ca new unboxed

    (2) used HP backup/restore software to create a backup of the OS (22 GB) factory on USB. Commpleted without error

    (3) taken from default HDD and replaced by the new OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB SSD

Booted 4) of the USB in the restoration of HP.

    (5) restoration of HP software detected the SSD, formatted, copied the files of operating system to it, unpacked the OS files and said she needed to reboot in order to continue the restore process.

    (6) system restarts and displays the error message "Boot device not found - please install an operating system on your hard drive - (3FO)"

I repeated several times with different options of default BIOS (disable UEFI, check the boot order, forcing the boot hard drive, etc.), the process of restoring without effect.

If I leave the USB key in when it restores, it starts on the USB and load restore HP, stating that he found the USB as the first boot device (although it is listed after the hard drive in the order in BIOS).

My best guesses are 1) restoration of HP software is incorrectly written statement details starting sector/UEFI/OS boot during the restoration of the reader and so when the system boots it gets a corrupt boot sector/OS start the details of the statement and so cannot find the operating system.  2) there's a hardware incompatibility with the OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB (2.25 firmware) drive that allows it to be visible in the BIOS and visible to restore Manager HP to format/copy of files, but which prevents the direct start for some reason any.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you.

After several additional hours of troubleshooting (and 2 levels of support HP being completely clueless on the issue), I could solve the problem.  It is not related to the EHR.

The restoration of HP software, when it is started from USB, seems to alter the UEFI devices and incorrectly referred to the boot drive during the process.  The only way to fix the problem is to enable "legacy" mode in the BIOS (which is not the default), and lower the priority of UEFI boot devices are much lower in the list (the BIOS does not allow a complete deactivation of UEFI, much to my annoyance).  If you start the restore software of HP USB stick with legacy mode enabled, the boot device designation, he writes to the hard drive is correct, and at startup, the BIOS has no trouble finding.

This issue should occur exactly in the same way with the hard drive by default.  It is not related to the EHR.  This is a bug in the HP restore software that is not properly manage the UEFI boot, which is the default value on this laptop.

I'm not sure if this problem will be solved by the BIOS update you suggested.  For now, since the system is now works fine, I won't upgrade the BIOS.  I'll keep an eye on its stability, however.
