    Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite P300 - 18M. Now, I want to install Vista Ultimate on a totally clean system. The installation runs, but at the final stage (end), which takes about 2 hours, the screen becomes black with just the mouse showing pointer. I sometimes triep to leave from one day to the next day, she who does not help.
Anyone who has ever heard of this problem and knows how to solve? If all goes well...

    Greetings.

Never heard of this issue, but it would be interesting to know if you can restore the laptop using the recovery disk Toshiba of origin.
    It work?

By the way; Did you include the SATA drivers before starting the installation of Vista?

  • VAP 1.1.19 error installation on Vista Ultimate - GetProfString is broken

I have an A300-1i4 with Vista Ultimate 32 bit as OS.

And when trying to install the package of value-added 1.1.19 I get the following error message "GetProfString is down..."

Any idea or suggestion to this incident?

    Thank you.

    Hello

First, you must remove the older version of VAP.
Then you must clean the BONES and the register using the free also called CCleaner.
This could be important to ensure that Vista does not contain old files VAP.
After restarting again, you can try again to install the VAP.

By the way; I m not very good, but it might be possible that VAP does not support full version Vista Ultimate.

  • Installation of Vista Ultimate on Satellite L650 - 1 MM

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba laptop some time ago and it came with Win7 Home Premium.

Now I want to downgrade to Vista ultimate... I m not very good on the drivers because there is not under support drivers here... no info if it would work?

I checked Toshiba's support page and you are right. There is no support for the Vista operating system.
To be honest I m wondering really want to make this downgrade. It is well known that Win7 works better than older Vista, especially on Vista machines. I've updated several old laptops Satellite models originally come with Vista.

Maybe you can use some drivers Win7, tools and utilities. Test it.

By the way: what is the reason of such decommissioning? I mean, I can't imagine that you are not satisfied with Win7. Try to get Win7 ultimate version and install it. in my opinion this is the best solution for you.

I have removed the excess programs and am initialization with minimal configuration. I use IE8. Using Firefox is not better. Everything seems to work fine. Average download is now 9000-10000kbs. Time Warner Cable has checked evertyhing, street speed is 24000 kbs.

Somewhere, something must be running somwhere and eat my bandwidth. I can't find. Also, using Norton 360 v4. Can anyone offer ideas about what happened when I installed Vista?

So it comes to a computer you built yourself or built a generic, not a machine OEM brand? If it is an OEM brand machine you get the drivers from the website of the OEM, not directly from Intel. If it is a generic office, try to throw in a PCI network card and see if that helps. One you use is perhaps not all that compatible with Vista. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I have trouble getting Service Pack 1 installed on Windows Vista x 64 final.

Current issue: SP1 does not appear as an update, and I have not yet installed.  Windows Update tells me that I'm completely up to date.

History (memory, may be some errors):

    • Performed the new installation, including Vista Ultimate x 64 disk erasure (MSDN)
    • Updated to current with windows update
    • Installed Office 2007 Ultimate (MSDN) (don't know where update what happened)
    • Active Windows (could be a problem doing this after you install updates?)

  • Can I do a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on Vista Ultimate 32-bit upgrade. Installation file will not work. The error is described below.

The XPS 730 with Intel Q9450 computer yourself running Windows 7 64 bit? The details of performance show that it is capable of 64-bit. When I try to install Windows 7 pro 64-bit upgrade, the installer will not work. I get an error that reads:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows that you are running.

I'm currently running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Everything that I read on Microsoft and elsewhere says that you can go from Vista 32 bit to an operating system Windows 7 64-bit as long as you do the clean install. I'm that far away since I can't even run the installation.
Maybe nobody knows what could be the problem?

    Hi Hal K,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you run a 64-bit version of Windows, you can perform an upgrade to another 64-bit Windows version.

If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows, and vice versa, you will need to back up your files and then perform a custom of the version of Windows you want to install installation.

  • The original OEM product key allows you to move from a 32-bit Vista Ultimate installation to a Vista Ultimate 64-bit installation.

The product key OEM genuine original of my software to 32-bit with service pack 1 (that I bought and installed on my computer) allows to switch from a 32-bit Vista Ultimate installation to a 64-bit Vista Ultimate installation on the same computer without changing the motherboard?

I would use a replacement disc from Microsoft 64-bit including Service Pack 2 as complete a reinstall? Microsoft 64-bit replacement drive has been obtained from Microsoft with the 32-bit version (which is currently installed) after some intractable problems found by the Microsoft Tech support in my OEM 32-bit software with service pack 1.

I'll be able to do an online activation?

    Thank you.

    Hello

You should check with Support to be sure. Normally the 32-bit and 64-bit key can
be used on the same system. Of course, you need to install the 64 who will wipe away
the installation of 32-bit. The key you should however work to check better
with that which supplied the disc. The manufacturer of your system can also provide input.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows Installer has stopped working on Vista Ultimate 64 - bit SP2

    Hello

My Windows Installer has stopped working all of a sudden (probably common last week).  I get no error message at all.  It simply doesn't get it.  The programs can be installed and uninstalled by there own systems updated, but the changes are not reflected in "programs and features".  When I ask Windows Installer to run under programs and features, I get the usual verification pop-ups, but once I click on the last approval, nothing happens.

I tried to install a new Windows Installer from the Microsoft Download site and each time, the program "check updates" and I get an error message that says "this update does not apply to your version," (to paraphrase).  I tried to install Windows 6.0, v-2, x 64, but when it does not work I tried all (LOL) with the same result.

At first I thought that my computer can was struck by a malicious code, so I ran MSE, remove malicious software (FULL) Windows for January and Advanced System Care 3.  All scans is come-up 100% clean!

I tried to restore my computer to a point 3 days does not.  As Murphy's law would have, I disabled the restore before January 12 points.

Windows Update online might work.  I get notifications for optional updates for MSE and AFAIK, they are applied.

Edit: One more important thing, the uninstall on Advanced System Care 3 feature does more either.  It's almost like the hooks to the installer of Windows have been removed to that also.

Installation service seems to be very well and the value 'manual '.

Any thoughts on the subject?  I can reload Windows from "day 1", but would rather not.  Laughing out loud.  I have my drive so.  :-)

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How can I do an update instead of a new installation if you are using Windows Anytime Upgrade from Vista Home Premium, Vista Ultimate?

I have a server at home, but one of my main computers cannot remotely access because it is running Vista Home Premium.  As a result, I bought a Pack anytime upgrade to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.
When I ran the installer, it downloaded updates to update and then opens a screen where the options are updated or install fresh.  However, the update option is grayed out and there is a message at the bottom of the screen saying that if I want I must must upgrade to a newer version of Windows.
A new facility is out of the question for me.  I'm almost 2 years of work on the machine and it is set as I want.  I have a few training licenses, I don't think I'd be able to reinstall it.  Besides, I don't want to spend days and days software and reconfigure my system.
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate machine, but I want to leave this machine as a Vista machine.  At I throw my money on the upgrade pack or is there someway around this problem?

Looking for a difference in numbers/Service Pack levels.

If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

I don't have that high O2 mobile broadband wireless so it won't work because you have to install the software for the dongle on intall. Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

A clean install with an upgrade/license disc cannot legally.

I don't know why you have 2 Systerm of operation on your computer, if you have used the process to upgrade properly.
    You must have one.

You can do the updates after.

You can, or perhaps no activation problem after reinstalling.

    If you do:

  • The computer hangs at "Shutting Down... "only after the installation of the updates for Vista Ultimate x 64 Windows

Hello.  Recently, I have reinstalled the 64 bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate on my computer.  I allow all automatic updates (worth about 450MO) and let it do its thing.  Afterwards, I had to reboot my computer.  He was going smooth until he hit the "Configuring updates... "or something like that.  The circle stopped going around smooth and pauses every second or two.  After about 30 minutes, he went to "Shutting down...". "and I let this go all night.  After 4 p.m., he was still at "Shutting down...". "therefore I kept the button and made a closed hard.  After that I started it up, it would get to the loading screen with the green bars that go everywhere.  It also was not smooth and stopping every second or two.

After about 10 minutes of this, I restarted my computer again, and it still wouldn't work.  I tried to start in safe mode, but it would also stop during the loading of some drivers and not continue.  So I reinstalled Vista again and, of course, was able to get without updates.  I thought it may have been a one time thing, so I did the windows updates again.  This problem repeated itself.  So I reinstalled Vista and am refraining from doing the updates of windows.

I restarted my computer without updates, and it goes well.  It is only after updates where it fails to turn it off and save.  No one knows what is the problem and if there is a solution to this?

    Hi JerryR9190

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers site

Are you Vista to get Service Pack 1 automatically as well?
If so, please try to download/install it yourself and see if that has any effect.

Amazing!  I have already mentioned that I lived the problem of the "feature Windows empty window.  Seeing that my initially reported problem and seemed to have similar signs and given that I had a clear explanation on how to solve this problem, I did it - and these two problems are now history.

In the two following links, you will find the description and method to solve the problem of the 'empty Windows feature window' and (b) a method for appropriating errant registry entries.

This * may * solve your problem too - it seems that there is a generic problem with determination rather poor problem feedback.
