Installation of Windows 7 on SSD HP drive

We have three HP 8300 Elite SFF machines in our headquarters. All came with Windows 7 pre-installed on the hard drives of 500 GB.

I bought two genuine HP SSD drives (with 120 GB Intel), but cannot install Windows 7 on them because the provided installation HP discs report that the new disks are too small!

I contacted HP about this and told me that the recovery disks only supports hard drives, initially installed on the machine, (i.e. 500 GB) or a larger size. I'd like a 960 GB SSD, but I'm not too keen on the cost!

The obvious solution would be to buy packs of sale at retail of Windows 7, but I hesitate to buy expensive software when I already have a license.

I had thought to resize the partition of HARD drive, less than 120 GB and copy of data across using a disk image but the facility could be optimized for a hard drive instead of the SSD, and it would probably go to default defragmentation!

There is no work around that I could use to install Windows 7 from the restore disks original, I want to get these new discs work?

Any advice welcome.

Nigel.

Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" for instructions how to install a new copy of Windows 7 on your computer by using the key of HP OEM Windows 7 SLP/SLIC of factory (not the 25-digit number on the COA), the activation OEM HP certificate factory and BIOS of the computer. Please see below for step by step instructions;

(1) download and unzip ABR Beta with Windows 7 Support. This is the homepage of ABR for Windows Vista. Please follow the section "How to use" for information and instructions on how to use it. These steps also apply to Windows 7. Perform the 'activation' backup and save the certificates and keys retrieved in several external locations. The key and the certificate for each computer should be the same. (He gets the certificate of your factory installed OS and HP preinstalled OEM factory original key)

(2) install Windows 7, after all the guests as needed. Don't let not Windows try to scoped. Run ABR 'restoration of activation' to 'install' the previously saved until the product key and the certificate. Make sure that Windows is activated, repeat "restoration of activation" until Windows 7 is activated. (It "installs" pre-installed HP OEM factory original key and certificate from your factory installed OS to your new installation of Windows. This HP OEM key and certificate are what allows your computer to HP be factory preactivated.)

(3) install all drivers from the computer. These can be found on the support page HP for your computer, or you can find newer drivers on the various websites of the manufacturers of component... Intel, NVidia, AMD/ATI, Ralink, Realtek, etc..

  • LY580 - installation of windows 8 on SSD

I would like to install windows 8 on my SSD instead of upgrading my copy of windows at the standard C disk. However, during the installation of windows 8, I says that it cannot install on this disk because it has a MBR partition table and EFI systems require GPT disks. When I try to change that in disk management, I note that the SSD is not configured as a full disc, but is rather a volume of disk 0 with the HARD drive. How would I change this so that I can install windows 8 on this drive?

    Hello Ford,

Thank you very much for the detailed help. I've fiddled around with the BIOS, some settings and whoops IMO all of sudden the drive was recognized. I think that, if I remember correctly, that change has been after I disabled the quick start option.

Eventually I could reset the compatibility mode and take advantage of the full speed. I am really impressed by the speed improvement.

    Kind regards

  • Installation of Windows on a new hard drive

I have a computer I want to get a new, more large hard drive. The vehicle currently has Windows Vista installed on it and the hard drive still works, I just need more space. What should I do to install Windows on the new drive? I will use the installation disc that came with the computer. If I get out the old hard drive, install a new one, put Windows on the new, then format the old one? Basically, I want to avoid having Windows installed on two hard drives to work.

    Hello

the steps you have mentioned are correct:

take out the old hard disk - the new drive hard install - reinstall vista - old erase hard drive

You can then use a the old hard drive to backup your data

and read too much about the displacement of the full to avoid you operating system having to load data and programs again. but then you still wipe the old disk

It might make you save time and effort:

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

  • Installation of Windows 8 with SSD

My computer crashed and I reinstalled Windows 8, but the disk partition that is created is then very unhappy: Windows and all other programs are installed on my SSD, it is completely filled. Can I fix this without having to re - reinstall Windows? Can I move windows normal hard disk parts? Or if I have to reinstall Windows, what should I do what disc use optimal?

    Hello

To start... what type of installation media that you are using?

Is this a real Win 8 installation DVD, or is it a disc that you created to restore the factory machine, or even a drive you've purchased from the manufacturer of the computer?

It makes a difference as to how the process works...

If you use a disc of 8 Win, you should be able to do a CUSTOM INSTALLATION, and then choose the location.

If you use the manufacturers pre-install discs, you probably have the opportunity to...

Whatever it is, you should probably hook an SSD... Also delete EVERYTHING on the HARD drive...

If you are not using a Flash drive install, I think you need to upgrade the BIOS to the legacy...

There seems to be a way to use THE installation DVD, but I do not think that a standard, it will work...

This link can be useful... It also contains a link to the instructions to create a disk for Installation of Flash...

  • Installation of Windows no longer recognizes HARD drive

    I use a Toshiba M400 Tablet laptop.

It came with windows vista business 32 bit.
Shortly after I bought it (about two years ago) I installed buisness 64bits withuot a problem.
I tried to install windows 7 RC on it, but does not recognize my hard drive install windows (it gives readers No problem Found).
I (Hitachi HTS721080G9SA00) hard drive is SATA, and as I've already mentioned it worked perfectly on a previous instillation of windows - no drivers is through their website - they say that the drivers are included on the installation discs.
I plugged the HARD drive on my desk and that you have installed 7 without problem, but as you can imagine when I put the HARD drive in my laptop it does not (blue screen on startup - modified hardware problem).
Now, I have tried everything I have - business 32 bit, 64 bit, windows7 32 bit, 64 bit, none can find my HARD drive.
My bios DOES not recognize my HARD drive and during mode diagnosis finds no errors.
    Can anyone help?

    Hello vurk,.

Provide us with the exact error message and the error code (if any) and let us know the operating system currently installed on the laptop.

The best measures possible I can think of without having the error message is:

    1) Perform Startup Repair

    To perform the Startup Repair:

If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.
If you have a Windows Vista installation disc:

    1.

    Insert the installation disc.

    2.

Restart your computer. Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.

    3.

If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings

    4.

Choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    5.

    Click repair your computer.

    6.

Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    7.

In the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.

    1. In WinRE, open a command prompt. To do this, follow these steps:
      1. On the Install Windows screen, select the language to install, time and currency formatand keyboard or input method options and then click Next.
      2. Click repair your computer.
      3. Click the Vista installation you want to repair, and then click Next.

Note Click load drivers only if you need to load a driver to access a hard drive.

My hard drive is failng in my computer I get the message that "the failure of hard drive" is imminent for several months now.  I did just recovery disks after I bought my computer and that you have ordered a new hard drive.

I thought that the part of the setup of windows on a portion of the current hard disk that I need to replace.

I want to just make sure that if I can restore the windows completely and that all programmes provided with the computer are on the recovery discs I want to do it myself - so I need to know I'm doing it correctly!

    Thank you very much.

PS I found this web page below and I want to just make sure that it applies to me:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-TouchSmart-420-1000-desktop-PC-series/5146292/model/5155758/d...

This link in the post seems to apply to the situation.  If you have already completed the defined recovery disc then it should just be a matter of running the recovery disc after the new hard drive is installed.  The recovery disk set will be "restoring windows completely and all programs included with the computer".  Be aware that all other items that were installed or personal data will not be restored.  When replacing the hard drive, do not buy a disc exceeds the limit of 2 TB, such as published in the SPECS for TouchSmart 420-1000 t CTO.

I had a virus on my pc which has deleted everything and now the pc does not start. im going to buy a new hard drive but I need to know if I can install windows 7 on the new? or do intall recovery disks all hard drive is empty?

If you have recovery discs you can do. Put in disc one and pull upwards.

the old drive should still be physically ok. So you can just try pick up on this disc. When you run the recovery DVD, it erases the disk and should be fine. May be worth a try before you go out and buy a new hard drive.

  • Installation of Windows 2003: cannot find hard drive during the installation units

    Hello

I found a strange question here...

ESXi 4.0 installed on DELL R710 with 2 processors E55xx.

Then we try to install a virtual machine with Windows 2003.

The installation cannot continue because the virtual machine cannot detect the disk (virtual disk).

Are we have to use specific drivers (as the old way install Windows Server 2003 on the physical, press F6, and then insert the drivers for drivers, etc2)

    Please advice...

I have attached the error and the configuration of the VM

For Windows 2003, the default controller is the parallel of LSI Logic. For this one, the drivers are already included in Windows 2003.

  • Need to create a back-up of installer of windows 7 on my drive flash, but because the site does not accept my product key

Original title: product key error Windows 7

    Hello!

I need to clean my office completely. However, I had installed on this PC by a company, with that I can't connect, and the windows Web site does not accept my product key. I create a back-up of installer of windows 7 on my flash drive, but because the site will not accept my product key, I can't do it.

    Any help?

Step 1: Download a copy of Windows 7:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

Step 2: Perform a custom installation, see Windows 7 section of the following article how to perform a custom installation:

How to: perform a customized Windows installation

    Step 3:
