the bios in this system is not fully ACPI-compatible. Contact your system provider for an updated bios.
Hello
Seems this version of BIOS does not support Vista and unfortunately, it seems that you must wait for the new version of BIOS that will support the Vista operating system.

Help to perform a new installation of Windows Vista 64-bit.
Original title: Clean Install.
I am wanting to perform a clean installation of Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I would like to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I was told, during the custom Setup, that I could choose which bit to install.
Hello
With Vista, you do not boot from an external drive to install it.
It is an option in Windows 7.
And they told you to contact Microsoft for support.
Microsoft does not provide support for OEM installations.
In Vista, 32 bit and 64 bit come on different DVDs.
See you soon.

Second installation was successful, but the installation failed initial always appears at startup upward. At a complete loss to know where to find entries that say my system there are 2 installs of Windows Vista. When launched the CD to 'view' where this "alternate" install is shows unknown HDD to address 0 w a lack of disk space. Of course, it is more than likely that only some files in the registry or the system "ask" that there is a current installation. Where can I find these to remove them? Have not found anything on any forum re: this issue. TYVM<3!>3!>
I see that a "MVP" edited the title of the question, but it did NOT reflect what the question. Please leave the full question in the title of the post. My problem is not a simple installation of 'failure '. I just want to find out where the entries are which are originally to show 2 Windows Vista o/s when I 'start' my computer when there are 'only' real installation. Note: I have two we HARD a WinXP Pro, the other Vista disks. At the start, it shows "Versions of Windows" and then Windows Vista and finally Windows Vista again. The non-existing o/s installation failed is the 3rd entry.
Modify the boot.ini file to remove the installation failed (make sure that you remove the right pair) or in msconfig, check the boot paths

trying to do a clean installation of windows vista by using the dvd
I am trying to simply destroy my computer and start clean using the reinstall DVD supplied with my dell PC. It has windows Vista Home Basic on it. When I put the DVD in its loading and a window pops up asking if I want to install and I press Yes. After a while a box appears that says I don't have enough storage for temporary files. He needs so many megabytes of free space on a partition to be able to load the disc. the problem is that I have NOTHING on the computer, there should be more sufficient storage space! How can I get the DVD to run?
Hello
If there is no data on the computer, then you can try to format the hard drive and then install vista on it.

Keyboard output incorrect characters after the re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530
Original title: some of the keys on the keyboard messed up after re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530
Hey guys,.
I have recently reinstalled windows because last year I picked up a few errors that I couldn't fix it easily and I wanted a clean slate.
I have install all the drivers etc, but I noticed on my keyboard, if I try and make a "sign it comes up with a sign @ and vice versa." There are also others like that, so I guess that my keyboard readers need to update? Although I have no idea why they would need updating as they were before.
Anyway, I went here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_M1530&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= and I tried to find the driver I need, but could not find them.
So, overall, my question is should I update the drivers? If so, how?
And if not, how can I fix?
Thank you. :)
Hi cripple.
Thank you for your message.
Was is happening until you have reinstalled Windows?
How do you reinstall Vista, what steps did you take?
What is a wireless keyboard?
If this is the case, check the batteries and make sure that the keyboard is very close to the receiver (a few inches) to see if the problem resolves.
I suggest updating your anti-virus definitions and run a fun system scan.
You can connect another keyboard to your computer to see if it might be the fault of the keyboard?

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

The upgrade from Vista to Windows 7
I just bought Windows 7 upgrade Windows Vista. I get the error message: operation is not supported on this platform. What should I do to get this latest version in my computer?Have you tried to do an upgrade installation or a custom installation? A custom installation requires you to back up your files and settings with Windows Easy Transfer and then reinstall everything after installing the new. If an update install does not install work, you need to do a custom.
In addition, a Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade will not work and you get a message from a platform if you have bought a UA and tried to use it with Vista. Vista upgrade requires a detail, a copy in the Windows 7 box.

Method 1:
In the following article from Microsoft Fixit to reset Windows Update components and check if the problem persists, run the fixit.
How to reset the Windows Update components?
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
Warning: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and then try to install the updates and check if it works.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

Satellite L300D - 21 p - failed Installation of Windows Vista 32 bit
Hello!
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L300D - 21 p, and now I wanted to install Windows Vista Business 32-bit.
But still, the installation stops at where the screen says "how to complete the installation..." ".Do you have any idea what I need to do to fix this?
Thank you very much for your answers!

If you use the Toshiba recovery disc then you have no need to reinstall the SATA drivers.
If you use Microsoft disc, you need the SATA drivers. But if the error message indicates that the installation is complete, then the HARD drive is recognized correctly and you should not have the SATA drivers in such a case.
> Where can I get the SATA drivers?
It seems that your laptop computer supports the processor AMD and ATI chipset.
Driver graphics card contains the driver for chipset and SATA drivers needed.
The different folder for the graphics driver and the drivers are placed in the folder:
Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\Filter\NB
