Installation of Windows XP on Satellite L300 11G

Hello

I have a problem installing windows XP on my Toshiba Satellite L300 11 G.

It does not recognize the SATA HDD. SO I downloaded the files that were needed (Intel storage...) and then I get an error: iaStor is corrupt. I'm pretty new in computing, so I don't know if I downloaded the right thing. Please if someone could guide me trough and give me a link to download the correct file.

And this message comes only if I can't choose the right driver when asked? Or is there something else that I do wrong...?

Help, please. I am trying to solve this problem for several days and I bought my laptop a few days ago and I need it for business. I would appreciate your help.

Thank you.

Hello

Sorry, but this error is unknown to me, but you shouldn't t be worried.
I think I know how solve you the problem.

You used the external floppy drive to install and register the SATA driver in the installation of XP. Am I wrong?

There is another way to include the SATA drivers.
You must download the freeware app called nLite. Google simply.
This software allows you to create a new XP CD and include the SATA disk in XP operating system.
Then you could boot from the XP CD again created and should be able to reinstall the system.

I have tested this tool and it works very well.

By the way; the Intel Matrix Storage Manager is available for download also from Intel and the Toshiba driver page page.

Good bye

    Hello

I don t think you would lose the guarantee after upgrade memory.

The slot of memory must be placed at the bottom of the unit and it s fixed with one screw only.
You must remove the plastic cover to get access to the RAM slots.

I think that details and pictures about the upgrade of memory must be placed in the manual pre-installed you.

My user manual contains this statement to upgrade which is very useful.

So Don worry about you guarantee the validity. If you use the recommended Toshiba and modules compatible RAM then you guarantee will not be cancelled ;)

    Hello

Satellite L300 - 17L is equipped with INTEL graphics 965GM (CRESTLINE) controller! If your GPU driver works fine!

    With regard to the VAP:
First of all, you must update the BIOS to the latest State and then you should try to reinstall the VAP for Win 7.
Don t install Power Saver for Win XP because it won't work!

    Hello

You need the Configuration utility 32-bit Intel Matrix Storage Manager disk since this page from Intel:
    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

You must boot from the CD of Win XP. Then, you must include the SATA driver using the F6 key. Note: you will need an external USB FDD drive to include the SATA drivers.

If you t, to an external USB FDD drive to use nLite software to create a new XP CD and include the SATA drivers.

    Hello

The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
There are a lot of discussions on this subject.

I found these two Toshiba HowTo that describes step by step how to do:

+ How to integrate the AHCI driver during the installation of Windows XP.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

+ How to integrate a SATA AHCI driver into a Windows XP Setup CD.

Seems the Satellite A200/S01 PSAF6A-06S01N belongs to the Australian series of Toshiba.
Drivers of this laptop are on the Toshiba on THE page but you can also download the Storage Manager Intel from the page of the European driver Toshiba or Intel page because the hardware is the same.

  • Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro P200

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem installing Windows XP Home SP2 (listen Slip) edition in my new Satellite Pro P200 with 2-120 GB hard drives. The vehicle currently has windows vista professional. I followed this link to a similar question on this site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go % 21 and created disk Intel Matrix Storage manager so that I could use "F6" to install the RAID drivers during the installation of XP.

I got to the point where I was able to recognize the hard drive and I was able to select the partition where I wanted to install WXP. Once the NTFS partition has been selected and formatted, Windows XP Home edition Setup prompted me to insert "Intel Matrix Storage" diskette into the A: drive. I have this drive in my floppy USB drive.

However he didn't even read the disc. Hard drive never turned on when I pressed the enter"" key. It seemed as if the installer froze, however I was able to push "F3" to exit the installation program. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Is the USB problem?

    Help, please!

    Hi people,

I have Toshiba Satellite L500 model and you are currently running Windows 7. Now I want to install Windows XP on it, I checked that all the drivers are available on the Toshiba page.
So teach me how to install Xp successfully.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

If you want to install Xp on your computer, you must change the Sata controller in the Bios, Compatible, otherwise, you will encounter a blue screen during the installation. It is because of AHCI drivers after installation, you can download and install Storage Manager and return to AHCi mode in the Bios. You can also integrate them Windows disk.

    You can read here:

Error occurs and it went by restarting the cycle... so I installed VISTA de Deposito cd again.

Now when I try to install XP from other CD I have, it says hard drive not found press F3 to exit. s

Someone please enlighten me on this issue...
I need to install xp as my college progs and not compatible with vista.

    Hello

Your Windows installation does not see the HARD drive because the SATA drivers were not included in the XP installation CD.
The new generation of portable computers is equipped with a SATA HDD controller. But don t Win XP or Vista one pilot built-in SATA.

SO, you will need to download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. You will find the SATA drivers.
You can use nLite software. It of free and it will help you to create a new XP CD and include the SATA drivers. You can then use this new XP installation CD.

This Toshiba document could be useful.

  • Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro L300D-136

    Hello

I realize that this question is very similar to those posed elsewhere on these forums. I tried after the solutions proposed elsewhere but were unable to do anything at work.

I'm trying to install XP Pro on a Satellite Pro L300D 136, which is currently under Vista.

I tried to get into the BIOS and change SATA compatibility mode, but I still get a blue screen of death when booting from the installation disc. Reading elsewhere on the forums, that I understand that I have to use nlite to include drivers SATA on the installation CD, I'm not sure how to find out what drivers I need. Number of threads talking about MSM from Intel, but my machine has an AMD Athlon processor. Does make a difference? Where can I find the necessary drivers in the download section of Toshiba?

Thank you in advance for your help, this is the first time I tried to replace a windows with another OS...

    Yes, it makes a difference.

For laptops equipped with AMD processor (they don t have an Intel chipset) you need the display driver.
In the display driver package are the SATA drivers you need.
You can find it on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

  • Activation of the AHCI after installing Windows XP on Satellite L300-19Y

So, I picked up this laptop used which has Vista installed on it. I got rid of him, but being not able to install XP I put the laptop in compatibility mode and then installed without problem until I relealised I need to install the SATA drivers as performance was not that great. So I found a way that is similar to many others on the internet just slightly different.

It works for the controller intel which will have the model in the title. Its the controller ICH9M-E/M that I used this method with.

    # Go to the Intel website and the location of the chipset you have. With this model is the series 4 and select Windows XP as OS. (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Chipsets& ProductLine = cell + Chipsets & ProductProduct = Intel Mobile + % C2% AE + 4 + series + Express + Chipset + family & ProdId = 2991 & LineId = 1088 & FamilyId = 40)
    # Download the drivers from RapidStore F6. It will come in a ZIP file that you need to extract. There will be a series of files in this
    # Then open device under ATA/ATAPI IDE right-click controllers Manager > properties for your controller. She should have ICH9 in the title. And then click driver > update driver
    # The wizard opens, don't go on the internet, press Next, then select install from a specific location > don't search, I will choose the driver to install. Click Next, and then click Have Disk
    # And then navigate to the folder where you extract the files and select the file iaAHCI.inf. It will bring up a list of driver files, you should select one that suits. For the listed model, it will be pilot ICH9M-E/M that will work. Select it and it will install. If it's the wrong file, you will get the BSOD immediately.
    # Restart the computer, go into the BIOS change to AHCI. Then start Windows, it should start. If you have the BSOD, then return to testing and compatibility mode method, but select the iaStor.inf file again.
    # Once the computer has started, launch the Intel Matrix Storage software to make sure that the power is saved. We can say that you replace the file with an older, just replace it for now, so that the registry database is correctly updated. Then after rebooting, use the Update Driver Wizard using the new driver. This has worked well for that day and will result in that you don't have to reinstall the entire operating system to get the drivers
I found the computer started much faster. The process is similar for all Chipset Intel machines, you just need to make sure that you are able to choose the correct driver.

Thanks a lot for this interesting publication, naza911. Nice to hear that enabling AHCI works after XP installation.

This thread is useful for other users of L300 I think or let's say ;) for all computers with AHCI and Windows XP

I need for the program to install windows Millennium Edition on my new laptop, but when he starts (during the installation procedure) search for devices it crushes and just stop.
What can I do? I tried to update the BIOS but still the same after.

I really put t know what you can do, but I really don t understand why you buy the laptop latest designed to the latest operating system available on the market and then try to use the older operating system. I hope you know that there is no support for older OS.

In my opinion, much better and cheaper option is to buy second hand laptop and install the earlier operating system. With more Ram, the older unit will run fantastic.

The second problem are the drivers and Toshiba tools that work well with me. Where you find them? You won't find them on the official download page of Toshiba.

In any case, good luck and I hope that someone already try to install ME on the same unit.
